  9. Hi Guys thanks for all your input I was measuring the battery in situ and I didnt realise the battery is a little deeper than it it appears by looking at the bottom of the battery tray and thats why i was getting 170mm. Any way battery was ordered monday and is expected to turn up today Went to start the car yesterday and it wouldnt start so that was good timing. The current battery is atleast 4 years old because it was the one the car came with when I bought it. hopefully should be up and running later on today. Boot is now stocked with de-icer, towels and ice scraper.

  13. My Car has been sluggish to start in the mornings last couple of days so looks like a new battery is in order - the current one is an Exide EB705 - Dimensions 270 x 180 x 170 High - 70A 540CCA Problem is i have tried looking online and all the batteries that are recommended for my car are 220mm high??? - I dont think they will fit My car is Facelift 04 LS430 What should I do - any facelift owners out there who could confirm wether the 220mm one will fit?
  14. some good advise there from brendan I just wanted to add the under normal operation the ignition knob is smooth to operate with minimal resistance - if the actual problem exists within the mechaincs of the ignition switch then graphite powder has been mentioned on here hope you get it sorted soon
  15. Hi Alex The screen in the LS400s is know to be quite reliable and I have not some across any commn problems with them I would start with simple battery test - Get it tested to make sure all the cells are holding charge I would also recommend removing the negative terminal for 10 minutes to reset all electrics - but before you do so familiarise yourself with the reconnect/restart procedure becuase i think yours being a 2000 the immobilisor will probably kick in. hope this helps
  16. same here with the LS430 - the windows do not clear - need to remember to buy some de-icer and scraper for myself
  17. I think LS430 values are getting stronger aswell - good looked after examples with sensible mileages dont come up very often especially facelift ones
  18. please read my update today on the tyres thread - for me the dunlops did not suite my LS430
  19. Ok guys - as you know I have a facelift LS430 and have always had this niggling problem - there was too much road feel through the steering - the steering would jolt when i went over a bump and it had a tendency to pull to the left - in my quest to find perfection i have had the track rod ends replaced and had it on the ramp through 2 different mechanics but could not get to the bottom of it - over the years I have just had to live with thinking it must be wear and tear in the suspension............................untill now !!! I have just replaced the tyres with Avon ZZ5 and my god what a difference it has made. The ride is quite and smooth - the steering road feel/jolt over bumps has gone and the steering feels smooth and supple to turn. The pulling to the left has gone - its totally perfect again. The avon tyres are smooth. supple and forgiving over road bumps and imperfections - I am so happy. - i highly recommend the Avon tyres and SO NOT reccommend the dunlop sport maxx for the LS430 I am happy and content and cant see what I would gain by changing car (which i was thinking of doing GS450H) Now i need to give it good well deserved polish and get the exhaust tips chromed Hope this is of some help to others when changing tyres. It can be so confusing when you start reading the ratings and reviews. I decided to go for a mid range tyre and i think i made the write choice
  20. Don't worry allan - i know how it feels As you know i was looking recently aswell and the more i looked the more confusing it was - there was cheap tyres around £45 - £65 with very good fuel, grip and noise ratings - in the end i decided to go sort of mid range and bought a set of 4 Avon tyres- they have a very similar tread pattern to dunlop and some of the quiter tyres and they have been mentioned by some of the LOC owners. I also read they are quite supple and absorb road bumps well. Have not fitted them yet as im going to get my alloys refurbed aswell. Once i fit them i will post back.
