  1. I think the problem happens more often on the GS450H possibly because of the hybrid system i.e reduced use of the breaking system I agree with your approach reference new parts.
  2. I was going to say what John has said above - Calipers from Lexus are not a bad price It might be an idea to remove, clean and regrease the pins every year - this will proling their life
  3. Thats a conincidence - My regular R3 has started to have so much interference that I have been forced to switch it off - it used to be fine??
  4. It’s still being advertised as Full Lexu Service History - which if it’s the same car it doesn’t have !
  5. I have this on my 430 too but I have'nt managed to get rid of it - might try gummy pledge
  6. So this GS460 has now been reduced 3 times currently sitting on an asking price of £5750
  7. Car looks lovely now however I'm a big fan of originality and the the paint on the chrome strips does not look good - just comes acorss as a bad paint job i.e as if some did'nt bother to mask up.
  8. The BMW spec will be better because it is 8 years younger than the Lexus. Lexus were ahead of their game in 2004 when they had touch screen controls, reverse cameras and keyless entry and start in their vehicles as standard. These features are mainly found in Luxury vehicles of today and even then it is an extra.
  9. Hi Den We have a 520d m sport in the family and it has about 12k of extras - for me its just nice to look at lol - It doesnt sound nice, ride is too firm and I get a numb bum everytime I go in for more than 30 mins. Prefer my LS430 everytime. We have a 335d also - its nice than the 520d - very quick - but couldnt have at as an everyday car and I cant give it the same respect as my 430
  10. Hi John - the picture of is of the OP Lexus which they used to own as mentioned in the first line of the second paragraph
  11. Hi Den the GS450H is a brilliant piece of engineering. However it does have a few weak spots. When buying check the following: Seized calipers - expecially rear ones. Rusted exhaust back boxes. Leaking Shock Absorbers - Lexus is the only supplier for replacements. Creaking dash. Alloys needing a refubish - this can be slightly tricky as you have to remove the chrome plastic inserts which can break and newones are only available from Lexus. Headlight bulb flickering or going out after a while - Remedy is to swap the bulbs over or replace them. Rust on the leading edge of the bonnet. Faulty TPMS Valves At higher mileages there is a risk of Gearbox oil pump packing - this can be a cheap fix if you follow the advice on this forum - Lexus will sell you a new gearbox HYBRID BATTERY: A health check is available from Lexus for vehicles under 10 years and 140k miles - this guarantees the Hybrid Battery for 12 Months. If you can't get the health check and have battery problems: it is normally 1 or 2 cells which are low - these can be replaced and the battery reconditioned for around £800. A member on here Richard is recommended. Hope this helps
  12. yours is facelift - the giveaway is the face lol (headlights, bumper , grill)
  13. I agree with phil above - my 430 is 14 years old and I leave the aircon all year round - never had any smell problems.
  14. I had boot struts fitted to my 430 (purchased from a UK supplier not SGS) after about 2 years the ball cups on the struts were completely rusted - the small retaining springs which prevent the struts from coming off were totally seized and broke off when removing. I have fitted another pair of struts to my car but I give them a clean more often since that area of the boot is where rain water flows down. The SGS rod looks identical and im wondering if it will last long given its location?
  15. Im looking for a small slim drill attachment to clean my tips - all the ones I have seen are cone shaped and will hit the bumper - any ideas?
  16. Hi The LS430 has stainless steel tips - Pete cleaned his up - have a read here:
  17. Hi Phil Perhaps this post might anwser some questions: https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/112992-rx300400h-daytime-running-lights-sorted/
  18. I think you got a bargain. I was looking on Ebay and genuine New Shock Absorber for the LS430 is £899.99 lol Back to your question - if the current ones are fine and you dont have any complaints then I would leave them just yet. It would shame just to change them and wasting a perfectly good working part. You have spares now just incase a problem arises. My air shocks are 14 years old and still fine
