  1. Thanks everybody for your replies - it makes interesting reading. I'm not overly fussed as to what mpg it gives - It will be cheaper than the 430 to run in terms of fuel/road tax and insurance. I have never driven a modern Lexus or a hybrid so that will be a new experience. I like the size and love the styling of the 300h. The cockpit design is one of the best unlike BMW 3 series where it just drops down rather than slope around. I like the f sport front a bit more - is the ride very hard in them - we have a BMW 335D m sport in the family - how does the ride compare? I know it may not be on par with the LS - I just hope the ride is not too crashy
  2. Phil you are right and I know that after driving the LS for so many years - I even had problems adjusting from LS400 to 430 - that's how picky I am (or was) but I just want to try something different and bit modern.
  3. On my mark 4 the culprit was the phone - it doesn’t switch off with the ignition- check yours if you have one
  4. Thanks for the reply guys - really looking forward to buying one - never had a hybrid before.
  5. Hi Guys I have been and LS driver for about 11 years - I now fancy a change and want something a bit more modern and slightly more economical overall. I was looking at the is300h range and noticed that the MPG figures shown for urban, extra urban and combined are very close together. I would of thought urban and extra urban would have a bigger difference between them. Can someone please elaborate and if possible let me know what real life figures to expect if im doing 80% town driving. Also if anyone has any buying advise please feel free to comment - gold with cream leather is appealing at the moment
  6. HI Pete Glad to have you back - your posts are always informative and interesting
  7. if this is true and covers all hybrid vehicle then it great news especially for the GS450h guys and I'm sure they will get a few of them in why low battery cells
  8. It can be a big move going from one vehicle to another and immediately you start seeing difference and analysing these difference because you are not used to them. I myself don't like change and when I changed from an LS400 to an LS430 I found it very difficult to adjust and as I found it noisier and the ride harsher. I even bought another LS400 to go back to - I then spent about £1500 on servicing and other parts to bring it to my standard however just before selling my 430 I was persuaded by family to keep it and since then it has been happy motoring for 7 years - I currently don't know what I would buy if I was to change. I agree with your last line about test drive - I'm like that aswell!
  9. you are right - "what the hell"? curious to see more pics though especially the interior
  10. On the 430s The steering starts feeling loose and crashy over bumps when mileage hits 120k+ miles The bushes are a straight forward swap with no major dismantling required - takes barely 30 mins with a lift. Just remove one bolt at a time hope this helps
  11. Might be an idea just to get the health check done before it is 10 years old - that way you are covered for another 12 months. Then going forward just do regular servicing via your independent. RX battery problems are limited - the worse are the GS450Hs
  12. Its amazing how simple and cheap this technology actually is - however car manufacturers charge 100s of pounds at the dealership.
  13. A far cry from "modern security" systems where Brand new cars are being stolen in a matter of minutes with minimum fuss.
  14. I’m no expert on lpg however I’ve seen it mentioned here more than once that the ls430 has hardened valves therefore does not require flash lube- might be a idea to ring around a few installers and get their perspective hope this helps
  15. Sorry I assumed you guys could find it since we know its a gold mark 3 and John mentioned the reg in one of the posts here is the link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-ls400-Auto-Petrol-Lpg-gas/223341047978?hash=item340029f0aa:g:GRQAAOSwAP9cSMJi:rk:3:pf:0
  16. Johns car is now on ebay I must say john it does look very good in the pics - maybe you were a bit too hasty getting rid at that price?
  17. On the LS430this could one of many things including: Oxygen sensor leak in exhaust dirty maf sensor loose or faulty petrol cap best thing to do is get it code read. Once code read clear the codes and drive it - if the fault come back then investigate and fix as necessary. Hope this helps
  18. Welcome back - I must say I don’t recognise ur name so you must have been away 5 years or more sounds like you’ve bought a mark 4 - would love to see some pictures
  19. I bought mine from car parts for less. It is an Exide battery which comes with 4 years guarantee. I think the key is buy from a reputable retailer who will give a guarantee.
  20. mmm a bit confused now Georges comment is inline with what the manual states however my key also looks like the second key and the smart function works on it including the boot
  21. HI Anthony I hope you get yours sorted and if you do please post on here what was the cause - I have had the same problem on my 430 and despite code reading and replacing bank 1 sensor 1 the lights still return with the same error code. So far I have done the following: Replace Bank 1 Sensor 1 Replace fuel filler cap Clean maf sensor Tried a zero point calibration using the paper clip method with no success - Apparently if you used Non -Toyota code reading equipment it causes the lights to come back on therefore a zero point calibration is required. I must add the car drives absolutely fine - as a last resort I am going to replace the sensor again in the hope that may solve the problem even though the sensor was checked and readings taken and apparently its working fine.
