    Hi Paul only downside of gold is it fades and most of the 400s would suffer from this. Silver on the other hand looks great, easy to keep clean and is a colour which does not age

    The broken window is the key factor which makes this car probably good for parts - we have already seen some damage done by moisture to internal hidden parts in a recent thread. If the window was not broken and it had circa 100k mileage and paintwork did not have major damage then it would have been an ideal restore vehicle

    The telescopic steering function has not been working on my 430 for a few months - today it suddenly starting working just by itself - It must of been the weather - car was showing 26 degrees. The motor was working but it appeared to be somewhat struggling - so what could the fault - it clearly has'nt packed up totally or has the warm weather expanded things inside remaking a broken electrical connection?

    Do you know if your car has a separate amp? The amps is quite a common problem on the 430s and causes symptoms like you describe so my be worth checking

    So guys am I right in saying that with the Ctek I connect it upto the battery via the eyelet connectors and then it just sits next to the battery in the engine bay? And there is no harm in leaving it connected permanantly

    I have pagid front discs with Ferrodo pads on my 430 - had them abut 3 years and the hats are just showing signs of rust now - braking is smooth and quite Blue Print also have very reviews

    Hi anthony Why not warm them with a hairdryer and try to push them back into position and see if it makes a difference?

    thanks for the replies guy Les: Just done a brief search on Ctek and although more expensive compared to trickle chargers, it does sound like a decent bit of kit. Simon: Mine is also used locally and i've never had battery problems before when its used daily - I will hold out for a few days and see how things pan out

    I have an 04 plate LS430 and due to the lockdown I only use my car 2/3 times a week - even that is for short journeys. I have already noticed the sluggish starter motor on start up Is there any recommendations for a decent solar trickle charger? I could remove and charge the battery but given that we are in this situation for a long term I might aswell invest in one of these and hopefully fit and forget. My battery is about 3 years old (Exide)

    Well judging by how clean the scuttle looks now I think we are going to end up with a showroom worthy car in the end

    My brother went through this scenario couple of months ago albeit with his BMW 335D Total cost was about £600 and he had to pay over half from his own pocket

    Hi phil I believe you get this warning when the cabin filter needs changing To reset press and hold the off button for the climate controls whilst the engine is running hope this helps

    I'm optimistic that this virus will be gone in a few weeks and we'll be able to pick up where we left off with hopefully minimal impact. what do you guys this think? will there be long term effects?

    I bought mine from ebay at that time and they came with speaker glue - they still work fine

    Very doable project - and I look forward to future progess reports. The only the thing I would say which is not fixable is the heated seats unless you buy a new set of seats or strip the originals and replace the heating elements. This is was a common problem on the Mark 3 LS and I couldn't get mine to work even after buying a set of used seats from a 50k mile car. all the best

    Its happened to me aswell - was loading something in the boot and had keys in my hand which I accidently left in the boot - the car beeped and I was able to open the boot

    They could of done a better job! The glass breaking - not required The actor was not a good choice Generally not well put together and doesn't quite bring across the finesse of the Car/Brand. Like the tagline though "stirs nothing but the soul"
