  1. Hi This was mentioned here before - you can read the thread here: LS430 ULEZ Exempt - LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club - Lexus Owners Club
  2. I have also agree - i have read more than once that this issue is resolved by plugging in techstream and updating - I think you need to find a Lexus dealer who have done this before lexus ls460 2006 vgrs ligth on - LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club - Lexus Owners Club
  3. I would email your insurance and get a reply from them and keep the reply as a record. I have Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RT2 (245/45/18) on my 430 - they are roughly half warn - grip is excellent but the front ones drag badly when turning in the cold weather - it is such a nuisance - I cannot take a left/right turn without them dragging and making terrible knocking noise - I would not expect this from a premium tyre.
  4. Also the steering does not move because the previous memory set has been lost - you need to reset the position and save it in the memory. You might also notice you have lost your saved radio stations.
  5. I use Gliptone leather cleaner and feed The Cleaner: cleans the leather and leaves the dirt on the cloth - it is also quick drying therefore does not block the perforated seats The feed: softens the leather, makes it nicely soft and supple, reduces wrinkles and smells nice
  6. Great looking LS400 - a rare car You forgot the interior pictures. The rear sits high? are you happy with that?
  7. Mind does wonder sometimes - how a small animal like that with small head and teeth has so much power. We have a rat chew threw our plastic cold water pipe
  8. Well the replacement is already here albeit another Chinese version (sorry if you are disappointed lol) can't bring myself to throw the old one away though - its very nice quality and the clamp was stronger on this one than the new one
  9. mmm I think the dunlops were purchased by previous owner because they were a quite tyre ( I have also considered them in the past) But I am disappointed that a leading brand tyre does this in cold weather
  10. HI Guys I understand this a problem to some extent on some models and I have experienced it on my 430 in the past on occasions. However recently my car has started doing it alot (since the cold spell) - I now get it whenever I take a left or right turn Before I used to get it on a full lock The tyres are dunlop sp sport maxx with plenty of tread Is there any other explanation for this ?
  11. thanks phil - I was a bit naive and did not think it through properly. Looks like I will have to buy another lamp
  12. I have a mains led lamp which was too bright I bought a plug in dimmer switch hoping this would solve my problem The lamp came on for a few seconds - it would flicker on lowest setting - then it went dead - any ideas what happened? I have opened it to have a look - there is small circuit with one black round capacitor, one small glass fuse which appears ok, and 2 flatish capacitors? Is it repairable guys? - its such a nice lamp and it would be shame to throw it away
  13. Maybe take out the audio unit - apply some sort of electrical conductive paste and see if it makes any difference. I think steve might be right
  14. I would check the battery - sometimes a failing battery produces numerous unexplained faults
  15. Just done a quick search and a new motor is £190 Fitting is a bit awkward as the motor is right near the pedals and securing nuts are facing upwards You have to decide if the money and effort is worth it
  16. I had exactly the same problem with my 430 - I spent alot of time resetting electrics by removing battery, setting memory many times and programming key to the memory settings. It went on for so long that in the end I was so used to pressing the memory button each time I entered the car that it was no longer any hassle for me I never did find an answer so I came to the conclusion that it behaved like this because the telescopic motor had packed up - this conclusion became even more true when on hot summer days the telescopic motor temporarily fixed itself meaning the problem went away and the steering would come down to my setting automatically. Luckily my current LS430 has had the motors replaced by lexus and they both work perfectly. IIRC lexussparesdirect were selling refurbished motors at one time - and replacing these motors is an achievable task. hope this helps
  17. Hi Phil I know it has a key type battery isolator fitted - I wonder if thats playing up I just went out in it again after 5 hours standing and started fine Also I was looking on Rockauto for starter motors and all of them have an extra charge added which is refunded once the old unit is returned to them - do you know if they sell without that added charge as I wont be returning mine?
  18. Thanks for the replies guys I only get one click on the first turn - then the car starts as normal - no sluggishness in the starter motor so that probably does mean the contacts. However the car has been driven less recently and we have had a drop in temperature so I'm going to check the battery. Google tells me I must have between 12.4 and 12.6V
  19. HI My LS430 for the past week has failed to start on the first turn - mostly it takes 2 turns of the ignition knob - on the first turn I hear a click This happens on the first start of the day I suspect this is the typical starter motor contacts wearing out - does anybody know how long I have before it doesn't engage at all - that's if it gets to that point. I know this is a very involved job with manifold off etc and also requires manifold gasket aswell - my dilemma is finding a time served mechanic who will do a decent job and not end up with dozen spare nuts and bolts afterwards. Can anybody recommend a decent mechanic around MK postcode area? Also is there anything else I should change whilst at it - I vaguely remember PCV valve on the LS430 which can also be troublesome at high mileages thank you
