I would get a Lexus dealer to carry out a Hybrid Health Check and give it a once over and then take it from there?

I am leaning towards the Rock Auto replacement

So I do have a leak - the whine returned yesterday - the return pipe infront of the radiator is leaking A brief search reveals Rock Auto to be the cheapest - anyone know any other suppliers I can check? RockAuto Does anyone know how involved the job is?

On a side note does anyone know if Lexus will do a Hybrid Health Check and warranty the battery on an import?

K525 UPV - 12k miles sold for £10k yesterday

Mine was a MK4 with 5 soke wheels

This brings back memories - I had them fitted once to my 400 and they fouled the caliper - they wore a nice silver ring on to the calipers - had to have them removed and they refitted with different weights

So after topping up the fluid I can confirm the noise has gone away and he steering is all smooth. The inlet and outlet on the reservoir is dry and I have'nt noticed any patches below to indicate a leak so will be keeping an eye on the fluid. Weather permitting I do still need to clean the reservoir as at the moment I canot see the level

I have had a look and realised what I thought was fluid level was in fact old staining on the reservoir - I have added a little bit of dexron but cannot really tell the level. I am going to drain the reservoir, remove and attempt to clean it - this will also allow me to inspect for debris or blockage. Its reassuring to know the pumps are robust. Will keep you posted

Hi Guys I panicked a bit and was thinking of worst case scenarios (above) and did'nt think of simpler checks. So today I have check the fluid and it is at max - it does appear black though and could do with a change - I check the outlets underneath and could'nt see any leaks So next step is to check the belts, remove the reservoir and check for blockage. I also intend to change the fluid Pump is last resert Drove her today and still noisy

So my LS430 with 167k miles has started to make a whining noise. The noise is present on cold started and gets better as the engine warms - and almost goes away eventually. The noise pitch increases with engine revs. It also gets louder when turning the steering when driving and stationary. The steering also feels slightly heavier. So with a bit of googling I am led to believe its the power steering pump failing? or it could be the reservoir at fault - a partially blocked filter on the flow pipe? Do you guys agree? There power steering pumps are not known for failing . . . . So I guess I'm asking is should I buy a fit a pump or start with the reservoir many thanks in advance

The time will come when one day I will move on from my LS - but I know, no other car will give the same true satisfaction that these cars have given.

Just for reference a member on here fixed his by sourcing the faulty part from abroad and replacing it themselves so as mentioned above if you have the dedication and skills it can be done cheaper: If the findings above are anything to go by there is a good chance of this fault developing as these cars age (given the climate here in the UK)

Hi If the car has not been started at all then it will need proper recommissioning most likely by a Lexus Dealer (due to hybrid battery) the following things will probably need attention: 1) 12V battery 2) Hybrid Battery - most likely will need recharging 3) Tyres may have flat spots - may need replacing 4) Air suspension will need looking at for cracks and leaks - followed by test drive to assess how well it performs 5) Will need a major engine service. hope this helps

GS450Hs with 4 wheel steering suffer from a rear wheel steering fault - Lexus will quote you 10K to replace the whole axle - the older these cars get the higher the chance of this fault occuring. have a read here:
