  1. hi brian im local to you aswell - must admit never seen you around (im near the town centre) Mine is also blue with grey leather - always fancied an LPG converted one but dont do the mileage to warrent having a conversion done Maybe will see you around one day
  2. I can relate to that i had a camry before i bought my first LS400. On the camry you had to just touch the throttle and it would - on the LS though initially it did feel as if your flooring the gas with not much response (partly because the LS engine does make much noise) Howver after driving it you do get used to it and now into my 5th year as an LS driver and very happy all around I dont think you can blame the car - The LS and GS are 2 different cars expecially handleing wise If you want a car which handles better then go for the GS other wise LS
  3. not good news here but your experience is consistent with another chaps who sold his LS400 Mark 3 for a 460. I wonder if the 430 is any better over the 400?
  4. i bought mintex but had noise problems when coming to a stop - a member on here recommended ferrodo premier - fitted these are all is silent again - very good smooth quite braking power - highly recommended,
  5. i used that famous company which sends wheels out to you - you get them fitted and then return yours to them. Initially they looked good but after 18 months the laquar has started to left around the edges.
  6. Hi Question is are you likely to get any engine problems with this car due to the high mileage - the answer is no - very little chance as the engines are bullet proof. - Suspension parts may need replacing if they already havent been done so. So if you were to LPG it and run it for a while you will be OK. Then there is the risk of having an accident and the car written off. However purely from a cost perspective you are spending 3K on a 1996 Mark 3 - that doesnt make sense. There is lower mileage ones out there for the 1.5K There is 03 plate LS430 LPG on auto Trader for 3750 (similar mileage) which has been standing for atleast 3 months. Personally I would just run it as it is
  7. Another vote for the cassette adaptor - mine also acts as a handsfree kit as i use my phone for music - so when call comes in it automatically mutes HTH
  8. confusing? - "LS" and "SPORT" dont go together Too sporty for me Looks just like the new GS
  9. Personally i cant tell the difference between these audi/bmw/vw - just cheap plasticy tac put together and covered with shiney paintwork sold with a load of carp on how effecient the engine is - fair play if your on the motorway all the time but why people will buy a brand new "economical" car on finance is beyond me off for a drive now
  10. i think you have 3 options - cheapest first 1) Buy a second hand from the breakers which is in better nick 2) Get it re-upholestered - i saw edd china from wheeler dealers have it done on TV OR maybe consider upgrading to one of these http://www.jzsinternational.com/servlet/the-1171/1995-1996-1997-LEXUS/Detail or these http://www.apsisusa.com/Steering%20Wheels/Lexus/Lexus%20all%20Model%20Application/LS400/LS400%20SW%20Application.htm HTH
  11. When i had my Mark 3 i bought a battery from the local motorfactors and it fitted without any problems - was still fine after i sold it 3 years later. I have did the same with my Mark 4 - bought it from Unipart - slotted straight in HTH
  12. Thats where the oboard toolkit comes handy - i used mine for the first time ever when i changed mine over
  13. the car is probably a japanese import the satnav will not work here unless you replaced the whole system HTH
  14. the centre consoles are pretty robust and trouble free - it might be worth taking out and checking the connections at the back - failing that i would just replace it with a second hand unit - one should be easily available as these rarely give trouble therfore the breakers struggle to sell them. The chimes might be the sunroof not shut properly - open and close it fully bothe ways and see if that makes a difference HTH
  15. I wonder why it went off and turned up again - has somebody bought it and then decided to sell it for whatever reason (fuel costs or insurance) or maybe an employee of the original firm selling it bought it at a discounted price and is now selling it for profit.
  16. hi this has been tried already by another member - if i remember correctly he enquired about 3 conversions all together but they said they couldnt do anything - the post is on here somewhere
  17. I used 0w-30 Castrol Edge in my Mark 3 for 3 Years and continue to do so in my current Mark 4 HTH
  18. hi will - i like the shape of the late LS430s too - here what to look out for 1) Make sure no Suspension noises as its air susoension - and if theres a fault it could be very expensive to fix 2) Check all electrics especially parking sensors 3) Steering motors are know to fail 4) Check rear aircon works - if it doesnt it could mean coroded pipes which is alot to fix - An owner posted recently about this 5) Boot struts failure are a very common fault - so check them hope this helps
  19. thanks for reporting back - have been driving LS400 for 5 years now and every so often just feel like a change and have often wondered what the GS and IS are like to drive. See us guys have got ourselves into a dilemma - we cant upgrade - theres nothing better than the lexus!! - what do you buy thats just as smooth, quiet, luxurious, reliable, over-engineered as the LS ?
  20. Another vote for Continental Premium Contact 225/60/R16- happy allround
  21. UPDATE - ok guys ferrodo premium pads arrived and fitted them this evening Took the LS for a test drive - done lots of stops and go's, lots of creeps, basically i tried hard to get a sound out of them but i couldnt - the groan has truly gone - the braking is sharp, smooth and quite these pads are very good alternative to genuine ones for reference part number is FDB 1554 and the sticker on the box says they are suitable for LS from 1994-2000 Total cost £30.35 or there about - i havent checked but i have a funny feeling the mintex ones i took out cost me Hope this helps others
  22. well i actually rang them and spoke to somebody - gave them my reg and thats what he quoted me.
  23. ok Well me being perfectionist have gone and ordered some of these - they arrive friday - will fit them sat and see
