  1. hi i recently had a dead amplifier which resulted in no sound the tape/cd all functioned as normal but i had no sound at all - no hissing - nothing - before it went i heard a loud crackle and it was gone mine was repaired by svt services in edinburgh - £285 inc delivery back - quick turnaround here is a link to my topic - the last post details the amp removal - its located behind the boot padding on the drivers side. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/94146-uh-oh-looks-like-my-amp-is-gone/ my car is also a 04 plate with 120K hope this helps
  2. here it is: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/91245-brake-judder-totally-gone-and-this-is-how/
  3. there is a post here from adam evans regarding cleaning the discs - look for that - that might be useful to you
  4. you dont need to remove the seat - just push the side isto create some some space between car body and seat and you will see a plastic plug at shoulder height - just drill hole in there and feed the wire through
  5. hi the button is well hidden away - best way i can tell you without a picture is its above the last letter of the numberplate - you might have to sit down and look under the lip (above the numberplate) to see it
  6. Nach i can only suggest double checking the barrel between the fuel cap release and boot release is fully disengaged i.e out. Also the boot also has a button to open it providing you have the key in your pocket hope this helps
  7. hi i think this was done by that chap who had the grey coloured mark 3 but fitted larger alloys to it and lowered it slightly - he then sold it to a member here - does that help? - try to find his posts
  8. looks like another 400 suffered the same fate? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS400-1999-AUTOMATIC-PETROL-GAS-FOR-SPARES-OR-REPAIRS-NON-STARTING-/151484392698?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item23452c64fa
  9. Here is a picture of the faulty switch What happens is over time for some reason the back becomes loose as shown by the arrow - inside the switch is a series of spring loaded copper discs which rotate to make or break an electrical connection and i think whats happening is when the back becomes loose it creates enough Loosiness between the discs to break the electrical connection which causes the blackout. wiggling the key corrects hope this helps
  10. looking good - that more or less how ive done in the past. - the scariest part is the first hole! - but once fitted they do look very neat - well done!
  11. i havent driven a 460 but all i can say you cannot go wrong with those tyres - i have them on my 430 and they are alot quiter than the bridgstones and continental. I also agree that the even the 430 is not as smooth and quite as the 400 - you do feel the road bumps more than the 400.
  12. this points a faulty ignition switch - i had this problem on my mark 4 3 years ago - after replacing the switch never had the problem. next time the problem happens try wiggling the key in the barrel to see if it makes a difference - i will try to find my old barrel and post up a picture hope this helps
  13. eerm understood come parts of that LOL - although some words looked familar to what we learned is science class many years ago. seriously you guys know alot better than i do - me having never attempted anything like - recently my amplifier packed up and i did look into replacing it with a standard unit but that is impossible with all the lexus wiring and connectors so in the end paid £285 to get it repaired.
  14. with only 62K miles on the clock and looks as good as new then lexus cheltenham have one for sale for £7,500.00. http://listers.co.uk/Used/Cars/Lexus
