  1. yes im talking about item 3 which has a hook at the base - hooking that is the key - hope this helps thanks for the diagram colin - a picture speaks a thousand words
  2. hi i believe it has a hook on one side - this hooks onto a hole in the chassis near the base of the battery - have a look and you should see a hole - hope this helps
  3. hi i have done this - it took me about 45 mins - you will need a drill/driver with one of those flexible bendu connectors to undoe the screws on the back of the ignition switch have a read here also: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/95281-electrical-fault/
  4. I might be wrong here but i think malc meant that; they are not traders in the sense that someone is trading from home or without a forecourt where they may not have the best interests of the customer at heart and would only be interested in taking your money and you wont have any comeback or any sort of customer service. He meant that these guys are well established, have a forecourt and you can expect them to still be there 6 months down the line.
  5. well we used to do it aswell but since the insurance companies have started asking " does your car have any modifications" its not that popular anymore. We are no so used to seeing standard factory vehicles on the road nowadays that when you see a modified one it sticks out - the european lads like to supe up their cars and bring them over.
  6. this is a personalized option which only the dealer can change - i only found out after doing a bit of googling: google "lexus ls460 dealer personalized settings" and open and read the 3rd entry which shows all the personalized options on the 460 which the dealer can set hope this helps
  7. i agree about the colour - my 430 is silver and hides dirt and swirl marks which would normally show up on a dark coloured car
  8. thats the first LS i have seen with a tear in the seat - even then the passenger side???
  9. this merc has done well http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331404184756?clk_rvr_id=744263909623&afsrc=1&clk_rvr_id=744856370556&afsrc=1
  10. very nice - very rare seeing an ls where i live let alone knowing a club member. mine used to be blue with grey leather
  11. harry i think you are worrying needlessly - these cars are pretty reliable and faults like this are rare and easily sorted - as the guys above have pointed out it could be a battery - get that checked out - and then get your starter fixed - but dont make any hasty decisions - im sure it will get sorted in the end and the car will look after you
  12. mine was done about 2 months ago - second time in 7 year lexus ownership - going to leave it as it is
  13. hi if you can locate the plastic plug - it takes just takes a minute to hold the cushion back and drill a hole - then feed a wire through which comes out near the boot gas spring in the back - attach the sensor wire and pull it through - just tuck the wire on the wide of the seat - pop off sill plates - feed the wire and your done.
  14. yes i agree with nach - we know these cars can do galactic mileages - a prime example is that white LS in USA being discussed in another thread - the miles on this green one might be a bit high but aslong as the service history and miles are verifiable and as nach says the gizmos work then why not - what could possibly go wrong? - alot of car for the money
  15. wow - incredible looking car given the miles. i dont think the drivers seats is original - either its got a cover on it (these leather ones are very popular in the US) or it has been re-upholstered.
  16. i would be happy to go with those price purely for piece of mind that its done right and everything is put back properly with no nuts and bolts left over.- this is a very involved job and i would not want it going wrong therfore wouldnt risk it with an independant garage unless the mechanic had done it before.
