  1. That's an interesting observation, where does information such as this originate. I find it difficult to believe that the colour of the car would have any impact on the interior temperature! P.S. This response refers to post #38 by Wass. I pressed the 'quote' button but it doesn't seem to have worked, For some reason this site does not seem to work that well for me in recent times. It always used to work perfectly but now as mentioned, the quote button doesn't work and neither can I 'copy and paste' any links.
  2. yes the problem is very annoying. I will give Firefox a try and see what happens.
  3. For some reason I am having considerable difficulty with copying a subject from anywhere (outside of the LOC) and then pasting it into a thread on here. Does anyone else have the problem and is there a way to overcome it please.
  4. Nice one Chris, everything the same as mine 'cept the colour! I too intend to change the internal lighting to LED's, let us know how you get on. ENJOY.......................ENJOY.....................ENJOY
  5. Brilliant!...............That's a really clever idea, well done.
  6. My car was first registered on the 5th May 2006 and I paid £280.00 for my road tax.
  7. Ha Ha having looked at my post at #15 I think that I was close to falling asleep when I did it, most of the content was correct but I got a bit mixed up with the contributors! Sorry.
  8. If you don't want to go down the Lexus integrated ipod route, then the link given by Pete-r above is probably your best bet. However, from memory I seem to recall that this unit is not available to purchase here in the UK and has to be imported from the USA and I'm sure that VAT and import duty made it an uneconomical route to go. Have a look at this link, it was what I did with my car - http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic70947-diy-bluetooth-music-streaming-using-a2dp/ Hope the link works as I had to type it in as, for some reason I can't seem to copy and paste on this forum anymore. As a matter of interest does anyone else reading this have a problem with copying and pasting within the forum?
  9. I purchased a SatNav update for my car just over 12 months ago and, the Part Number is PZ445-X03EU-OC as distributed by Toyota. This disk is shown as 2012/2013. The booklet that came with it says that it has been produced using data collected up until April 2011. I can also confirm that when we are out and about, my wife is able to input destination information whilst I am driving. I find that the only disappointing thing about the system is the inability to input the full postcode. This has caused me a few problems in the past as can be seen at this link :- http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/83212-yhink-i-will-be-getting-my-garmin-out-of-storage/ Hope the link works, I had to type it in as I can't seem to copy and paste at the moment.
  10. I'm usually not on my own when I go anywhere that is new to me and so I am able to get my wife to type in the necessary info. I suppose if you are on your own, the safest bet is to stop. Not sure that you can operate the SatNav by voice, don't even know that it's an option. Having said that, I do know that you can tell the system to take you 'Home' but not too sure if you could give it a postcode verbally! I will have a look at the handbook and check this because if you can tell it to take you home, it would seem logical that you would be able to tell it to take you to a destination that is lodged in the memory but not to a new destination that is yet to be registered.
  11. I have the current version for my 2006 IS250, this was purchased from Lexus and still gives the 'agree' message at start-up
  12. Thank you for the answers to the CANBUS question, very informative and helpful.
  13. Hello is200 Newbie, please could I ask you to expand on your comment of 'results are noticeable' having fitted a K & N Filter Many thanks
  14. Sorry about this but can you explain 'CANBUS' please. Just out of curiosity, but it might be useful to me, who knows!
  15. Yes I'm sure that you're pleased with the outcome. When I fitted mine it was the very first one that was fitted to a 220d (they were originally made for the 250) and so there were modifications necessary and I dealt with the manufacturer and Mike via a 3 way Skype connection. The manufacturer was called Mr P and his English was quite basic, he was telling me which wires to connect to my multimeter and then was asking me for all of the readings so that he could decide which wires needed cutting etc. it was all very interesting and was done quite early in the morning to fall in as a good time period for us all. Now that you've done it, when you walk away from the car and look back, you will know that it's locked because the mirrors will be folded in, if they are not, you'll know you aint locked it! Well done matey, I will probably do my 250 shortly. By the way, where did you place the control box? I put mine just below the switch panel on the drivers door so that If I needed to get at it for any reason, I wouldn't need to disturb the door panel.
  16. Agree entirely with Creo. I had the 220d and it really was a lovely car but I moved to the IS250 because I didn't do enough mileage to warrant the diesel. I didn't do enough research at the outset. There is loads and loads of info on here about the 220d, please be sure to read as much as you can. There is always lots of valuable help from members too. You may still decide to go for the 220d after lots of reading but at least you will be much better informed. Good luck
  17. When I purchased my kit I ended up paying quite a bit more in import duty but I understand from Michael that he now distributes it via his daughter who lives in London. This is a great benefit when buying and is also undoubtedly much speedier. I think that Michaels email address is michael@ashpoint.com.au Michael's full name is Michael Rychter and he is great chap, extremely helpful
  18. Hiya PilgrimIS, there used to be loads of stuff on this but some of it seems to have disappeared. I think that it might have been something to do with when they updated the site. I posted loads of info at one time because I did the mod myself but when I look in 'My Content' now it has gone. However, I have found one lot of info. I tried to copy and paste the link to it this morning but I can't seem to get that procedure to work at the moment. The link that you want is as follows:- http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic75371-folding-mirrors/ I notice that it hasn't turned blue at the moment so you may have to type the address yourself. Hope this helps. P.S. I have just tried clicking on my link and it doesn't seem to work. I tried typing in the address into my browser and that does work and so you will have to go down the same route I think.
  19. I'm not 100% certain but if memory does serve me right I think that the update came in 2009.
  20. I reckon Dave250's car looks a very good bet, definitely worth a visit for a looksee if it's not too far away from you.. It's got full Lexus service history and so you will have no problems getting a Lexus extended warranty for another couple of years if you wanted (I've just done one for my 06 250) You get in-built roadside recovery too, something well worth considering. If the dealer takes it off his hands before you even consider it, they will add a fair few pennies before moving it on. Go and have a look, you can always say no if you want! By the way, I don't know Dave250 from Adam, it just looks a good possibility that's worth a look.
  21. Yes this is indeed the 'Windshield de-icer switch' and if used, it automatically switches off after 15 minutes. Page 190 of the owners manual refers.
  22. You'll be more than pleased that you made the change. I went from a 57 220d SE-L to an 06 250 SE-L and paid a lot more than you did to effect the change but, it was certainly well worth it. It's a pre-approved jobby, one previous owner with FSH and I keep it under extended warranty and will probably do so until I decide to change it. I loved the 220d, it was the best car I had ever owned up to that point but, as I do very little mileage now, I was somewhat concerned about any problems that I might run into with the diesel by doing such low mileage. The best car I have ever owned is the 250 that I now have. It is a dream to drive in every respect, long or short journey's, I just love getting in it. The acceleration is superb and I get good mpg returns too. Whether or not it makes a difference I don't know but, I never use supermarket petrol and I always add a touch of AR6200 at every fill-up. Enjoy your car.........................I'm sure you will
  23. Yes I was caught speeding, doing about 35mph in a 30 zone, twenty past midnight going through Northfield in Brum. I still have the licence and it shows that I was fined £5 in 1967! Fortunately I haven't fallen foul of the law since then. Hope I haven't tempted fate in posting this!
  24. Blimey that was a very good buy. Can't find any on eBay at the mo but the cost of the unit via the link you gave is £149.00!!
