  1. Interesting KDS, thank you. I will investigate further.
  2. Some really interesting observations here, thank you. I spoke to my cousin yesterday and he was telling me that whilst he liked the car from the off, it took him almost a year to fall in love with it and, he would definitely buy another when change time comes around. Did any of you take a time to 'fall in love'? He also told me that he never uses the EV mode, always normal or sport for him. From what I am reading on here it would seem that a 2014 model is the one to go for but, as I couldn't afford to go that route at the moment I may have to wait until next year and get myself a one year old jobby.
  3. Hiya Wass, thank you for your input, some interesting points. I've not driven one yet but, looking at one in the showroom about 12 months ago whilst waiting for my 250 to come out of the service bay, the only thing that disappointed me at that time was the lack of a spare wheel which can be remedied anyway. I didn't go into it in too much detail as at that time I wasn't looking to change. Interesting point about the Auris, I was wondering how many CT owners looked at the Auris and the Prius whilst they were considering the CT and if they did, what was it that made them choose the Lexus, was it because they had owned a Lexus previously. With regards to supermarket problems, I am one of those people who park as far away as possible from the entrance and the trolley bays to hopefully avoid such incidents, better still, go in the wife's Fiesta!
  4. Thanks for the input thus far, interesting comments. Disappointing re the tilting mirrors, they are a real asset I've always thought. I would have thought that it would be quite easy to include them in all models. I'm quite concerned about how much I will miss the extra oomph of the 250. I will be arranging a lengthy test drive, hopefully to keep the car for a couple of days or so. What is the response like when you put your foot down? I've never driven a hybrid, do you have total control as to when the petrol cuts in/out. When you are using cruise control on a lengthy motorway run is it running on battery and if you then need some extra oomph to get round something do you get that from the petrol bit? Thanks again for the comments so far.
  5. My wife won't drive my IS250 but she has fallen in love with the CT200h, and, when we go down to one car (which isn't too far off), this is the sort of car that she would be happy with. I will continue to try to get her to have a go in my 250 first. We used to have a VW Passat and she always drove that without problems and I don't think that there is much difference sizewise. My cousin has one (a CT) and his wife really enjoys driving it and she has convinced my wife that she will love driving one. I have a couple of questions............... Firstly, I will be keen to buy something with similar spec to my current SE-L, i.e it should have all the bells and whistles, including tilting wing mirrors when engaging reverse gear etc. etc. Is the CT SE-L the same as my SE-L? Do they come with Mark Levinson sound systems? My cousin had to buy a conversion in order to get a spare wheel, I would probably want to do the same. Anyone else done this? I wouldn't want to be driving with a can of gunge in the boot! Is there anything particular that I should be aware of or should look out for when buying? Thanks for looking.
  6. I think that I may have posted this thread in the wrong section originally as it had 121 views but no comments, I would have thought that someone might have had a comment to make and so I thought I would give it a try here. Hi folks, I am thinking about fitting a Dash-Cam in my car and have just had a thought. It struck me that the interior mirror must have some sort of power going to it as the windscreen wipers automatically work when it starts to rain. Knowing very little about car electrics I was wondering if this power can be linked into to avoid feeding cables all over the place to get to the cigar lighter. I might be way off track here but initially it did seem logical to me. Any thoughts anyone?

  8. I agree, it should be free. I am a member of numerous forums, in particular a photography forum where I have bought and sold numerous items over the years. I have also done a lot of selling and buying on a woodwork forum, all free of charge. I currently have my caravan for sale (on a caravan forum!) again no charge. I always look in the classifieds and cars for sale as part of my visit to the site. I don't only look at the sections applicable to my own car. I look at the other sections because I might be tempted to get a different model of Lexus at some point.
  9. Welcome Richard, I often walk along the seafront in my hometown of Exmouth and try to count how many Lexii I can spot, it's usually a big ZERO. Having said that, I have seen a new (to me) driver of a largish Lexus and have spotted him 3 times in the last two days. There is a jeweller down in town who drives the LS600 I think it is, wonderful motor.
  10. toffie_pie, I was the first to fit this mod to an IS220d, a number of people had done it on their 250's but not on the 220d, the wiring was a little different and had to be sussed out. Whilst I was doing the job, early in the morning, I was in contact with Michael via Messenger on my pc, we also had a connection at the same time with Mr P who I think is in Thailand and is the electronics expert. Because of the difference in the wiring, it was necessary for me to have a voltmeter on the go so that I could give all of the various readings to Mr P after he had told me which wires to check. The three way conversation worked perfectly and the job was a huge success. You are doing a 250 and so it will be straightforward for you and you will not have the initial problems that I encountered. I can tell you that I was 72 when I did my 220d a couple of years ago and if I can do it with the problems we had, you will find doing yours will be an absolute breeze. If you should encounter a problem, which I doubt very much, Michael and Mr P are amazing and will get it sorted, no problem. I can also tell you that you will be really pleased with the modification. One of the real benefits that I found was when walking away from the car and you think to yourself "Did I lock the car", just look back and if the mirrors are folded in, then yes you did! Good luck matey.
  11. Yes they are still available and the added good news is that they are available from London as opposed to being shipped from Australia as was the case when I purchased mine. Send a message to Michael............michaelr@ashpoint.com.au
  12. I purchased a Service Plan with my IS250 which gave me a service at 70K miles, Sept 2013, 80K miles, Sept 2014 and 90K miles, Sept 2014 and the total cost was £801.71
  13. Thanks normski. I'm not too sure is200 Newbie, I just have a sneaky suspicion that mine may possibly be blowing ever so slightly. I need to get it checked out but, the thought crossed my mind that if it is going, then it would be a good idea to find the post that I mentioned earlier. I have it in mind that the person who started the thread got his for around £500.00 but I may be wrong.
  14. I seem to recall spotting in a thread some time ago, someone mentioning that a complete exhaust system for the IS250 was available at a good price somewhere in the Taunton area. Does this jog anyone's memory? Many thanks.
  15. Contact Normski, he has just done all of his lights including the interior. I have done mine too and now just have the puddle and reversing lights to do.
  16. Thanks for the info Steve, very helpful. That phone holder is a bit on the expensive side isn't it!!!!!!!!!!! :) lol and all that!
  17. Yes, Gino is the main man, extremely helpful chap.
  18. Although I live in 'sunny' Devon, after shopping around a bit, I renewed my warranty for a further 12months with Lexus Stockport. It covers cars with less than 100k on the clock and less than 10years old. It cost me £414.00 and also gives Roadside Assistance cover for me and her indoors, whatever car we are in. I have used it recently for replacement of front calipers. Might be worth a call.
  19. Been and had a look at this, it does seem very good. Obviously will need something to hold the phone up on the top of the dash. Would you need to keep the phone plugged into the power supply to avoid the battery running down very quickly?
  20. Hi Folks, Anyone of you used this in-car camera at all? Does it come recommended or otherwise. http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=89bb2309b36b9c97eb159e69b&id=71b7dbb59a&e=0ae209f5c3 Many thanks.
  21. Lovely looking cars. Similar colours to my IS250 SE-L As a matter of interest what detailing products do you use?
  22. I have owned both models and the 220d was a truly lovely car. I only got rid of it because of the low annual mileage that I now do and low mileage and diesel apparently don't go together well. The IS250 is in my opinion a far better car but of course it will not give you the mpg returns of the diesel.
  23. Hi Carl, I've found a chap here in Exmouth who does some quality work and so I'm going to see him in the next day or so. I'll do this before I decide to buy a polisher. Even if I decide not to buy a polisher, I'm still going to kit myself out with some decent products, Paul has made some good recommendations for me and so I am currently having a look to see the best place to buy from. I'll keep the forum informed as to what comes of my visit to the chap here in Exmouth.
