  1. Thanks for that. I bought the Transcend DrivePro 200 at £75. It's rated highly by many motoring organisations and comes with a 16gb sd card. It also has wifi for connecting to an iphone or Android device and has brilliant picture quality. Early days yet but so far so good! Have a look at this, you might find it very interesting http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/95452-diy-fitting-auto-dimming-rear-view-mirror/ Be sure to read the thread through, it covers what you are looking for later. Hope this helps.
  2. Be sure to read the small print on the Service Plan because I think that you will find that there is an administration fee taken at whatever point you choose to cancel the plan. The only time they don't take one is if you change your car and move the old plan to the new car. My D/D is also payable to EMAC, I think that they are merely the adminstrators of the plan. With regard to getting info from Lexus, I have asked three times for the Terms and Conditions applicable to a PCP Plan and as of this moment I still haven't got them. If I don't get the info soon, I will either go to another dealer, although this will entail a bit of a trip as my 3 nearest are all part of the same group or, I will go and have another look at a 'C' class.
  3. Hiya David, your first service seems incredibly cheap. Paying £160.00 for it leaves £747 to be split between two more services. If you have one more at the £160.00 during the three years would mean one of the services costing £587.00. Was the first one slightly different to what is normally classed as a 'minor' service?
  4. The Inchcape Service Plan seems very cost effective but, surely it's insufficient cover to meet the Lexus costings.
  5. Yes indeed, thanks for the reminder, I got involved in that thread but had forgotten about it.
  6. Very helpful once again, thank you. Do you happen to have any iknowledge on purchasing a spacesaver wheel to chuck in the boot? Thanks again.
  7. Thanks for this, have you spotted anything specific and if so where,
  8. Thanks you, pleased to hear you say that, right on the money!
  9. what would be a realistic price to pay for a 63 plate (December 2013) IS300h Premier I have one in mind at the moment, one owner, immaculate, less than 5000 miles, but I am wondering what you folks might reckon would be a fair price to pay for it. There doesn't seem to be a lot of Premier editions about and, apart from Autotrader and the local Lexus Dealership sites, I am wondering if there are other useful sources to look at. The other route that I could go would be for a used Luxury where the previous owner had many of the extra options fitted but, even then there would be things that only the Premier would give. As usual, your thoughts and input is always most gratefully received. Thank you. Edit I think that i may have answered my own question by going here :- http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-is/is-300h/2.5-premier.aspx
  10. Thanks for this info Colin, very useful. Having sold my IS250 (I am currently Lexusless (the pain is quite chronic!) I am getting closer to getting me an IS300h and, I am thinking that I might get the dealer to include the fitting of a dashcam as part of the deal, I will be buying the dashcam of course. Did you buy yours via PoliceWitness http://policewitness.com/ or did you get it from somewhere else?
  11. I was speaking to a salesperson yesterday in regard to the IS300h that I am thinking of buying and he has quoted me £35 per month for 3 years for the service plan which I am thinking seems rather expensive. I will need to investigate this further. Also, he said that I could buy the extended warranty that is currently on offer at £795 for two years and that this would kick-in when the manufacturers warranty ends in two years time. In effect I will then have a car that has 4 years warranty on it. Having said that I'm not sure that it will all fall into place as easily as that bearing in mind what Colin has said about buying it this far in advance. It will be interesting to see what Lexus come back with on this point. Colin, I see that you have fitted a dashcam, is it just a front one or front and rear? I will be really interested in your comments regarding this as it is something that I have been considering for a few weeks now but have yet to make a final decision as to which one to get.
  12. "These selfish drivers seemingly have it mind that they can see OK, but they give no thought whatsoever to the fact that there are many people about whose eyesight is deteriorating and they can't see some approaching vehicles, particularly if the vehicle is dark coloured." Dave, I think that I should have made it more clear in my original post, in the above I was particularly referring to elderly pedestrians (although they don't necessarily have to be elderly of course to have problems with their sight) rather than drivers.
  13. Yes DJP, you've got it, the 1940 is a big clue, I'm 75 next birthday and looking forward to the 'FREE' TV licence in 2015, if they haven't scrapped it by then lol Some very interesting responses to this thread, which are much appreciated. I've been having a few more thoughts in the last few hours snd, it is possible that this will/could be my last car purchase. If I keep it for 5 years say, I will be 80 (my dad was 86 when he stopped driving) and who knows what my abilities will be at that point. My wife is 10 years younger than me and so I may possibly be driven around by her at that time or, it may be me who will be driving her everywhere still, who knows. I don't have to break my neck to make a decision, i'll give it plenty of thought. I have spotted the new bonds that are being made available and will give them due consideration.
  14. My early morning smile has been generated, thank you. Just keep it civil folks.............have a nice day!!!!
  15. For some reason I thought that the use of foglights in anything but poor visibility was illegal, must check it out!
  16. I'm looking at it like this, (not accurate figures by the way) I give them say £13K deposit and then give them £350 per month for 36 months equals £25600.00, that comes out at around £700 per month over the three years and I don't have a car anymore.
  17. What made you go for the IS300h in the end then? I must admit that the 'C Class' is the only car outside of Lexus that is catching my eye at the moment. (wifey likes it too!) I will have me a bit of a drive next week and will explore their terms re the PCP, although I don't much like what DJP had to say about Mercedes.
  18. Thanks for your input David, once again, some useful information. "The alloy wheel cover on an F Sport, fantastic VFM." I've not heard of that one, how does that work then? If you hand the car back at the end of the term, you still have your £14K in the bank but you don't have a car, doesn't that equate to expensive motoring over the three years or am I looking at it all wrong.
  19. I seem to recall that during the initial converstaion over the phone, the were talking around £350.00 per month with a final payment of £13000.00. As you say, I will get all of the information and study it carefully at home before making any decision. In fact, out of interest (no pun intended!) I am going to call in on the Mercedes dealer first and have a look at their 'C Class' jobby and get their PCP details, I will then be able to do a bit of a comparison. Thanks a million for your input, it's very helpful to me.
  20. Many thanks for your very interesting contribution Gang, much appreciated. Can you tell me, is it possible to stipulate your own level of deposit on a PCP, i.e. can you opt to put a larger amount down if you wish, thereby reducing the level of 'borrowing' and subsequently the amount of monthly repayment or, does the dealer insist on a certain deposit which gives him more profit at the end of the day. They have mentioned the fact that they will be chucking in £1000.00 if I utilise the PCP. How do they make their profit from someone who chooses to pay off the loan as soon as it has started?
  21. (Quote)"Funny thing this morning, I walked into a shop and tripped up a step as I didn't notice the 'MIND THE STEP' notice as I was looking at the chap who was holding the door open for me. We exchanged pleasantries and each went about our business. Fifteen minutes later I was walking back to my car and there was the same chap sitting in a beautiful red IS300h Premier and so I tapped the window and got chatting to him again. he has had the car for 12 months and he is part exchanging it at the end of December as he is getting an NX300h as it will be easier to get into and out of. The car has only got 4000miles on the clock. Lucky chappie eh!" (unquote) The above quote is taken from post #57 in my thread 'Your thoughts/comments will be appreciated' Many of you are aware that I was planning on getting a CT200h to replace my current IS250 but then I had my head turned by the IS300h (see my thread 'Oh Blimey') Well yesterday, a bit of a situation arose. I telephoned Lexus and they have told me that the car mentioned above is coming in within the next week and, if I'm interested I can have the first option on it. During our conversation the salesperson mentioned PCP as a finance option. I had not come across this previously and am wondering if any of you kind fellow members that have used the system could highlight any potential pitfalls that I may come across. The thought has crossed my mind that by using this method of finance, I could keep my capital within my own control and, could always pay it off at any time if I wanted to. I am going to the dealership mid-week next week to see what sort of deal I can get on that beautiful Mesa Red Premier IS300h, with Ivory Leather (just what I am looking for!). If I can go armed with a bit of 'inside info' from you chaps, this would be helpful. And so once again I say 'Your thoughts/comments will be appreciated. Thank you.
  22. that as an absolute minimum, if a vehicle is being driven, it should have its sidelights on. Over the past few weeks I have come across so many vehicles without any lights on at all and in the most appalling conditions, very dull/dark, and sometimes teeming with rain. These selfish drivers seemingly have it mind that they can see OK, but they give no thought whatsoever to the fact that there are many people about whose eyesight is deteriorating and they can't see some approaching vehicles, particularly if the vehicle is dark coloured. Am I being unreasonable with my thoughts. I don't have DRL's on my current car but always drive with sidelights on in normal daylight, and with dipped headlights on during less bright days.
  23. Beautiful colour, I'd love one like that myself, The interior looks fab too, the only thing that I don't like is the dark wheels, but hey that's just my opinion, each to their own eh! Is that colour available across the range or just for the F-Sport?
  24. Thanks for the responses folks, my main thoughts at the moment are whether or not now is a good time to sell my 250. I won't really be in a position to get the new one until early in the new year but, I would be quite happy to be without wheels until then if I thought that it would be worth trying to sell it now. If I don't manage to sell it privately then obviously I will do a P/X with a dealer but, the general indications seem to be that I could get about £1K more by selling it myself. As the saying goes, every little helps!
