  1. I'm thinking of using Adrian Flux Insurance Services, do they come recommended by any of you fellow members? Their quotation is pretty good, just wondering about customer service and the like. Many thanks.
  2. Just wondering........if I decide to go the PCP route and finance the car, albeit for a very short time, I am thinking that until I pay the final payment, I won't be the legal owner of the car will I. If I do go down this route, does it make much difference to insurance premiums and, knowing what insurance companies pay out in the event of a total write-off, do I need to do something different to cover the difference. I have never financed a car before and so have never come across the problem. When getting insurance quotes I have, probably mistakenly, been telling the insurers that I will be the legal owner. I will probably have to get requoted. Is this where GAP insurance comes in, I have heard the term but have never investigated it. I know that insurers usually pay out for a replacement in the event of total loss within the first 12months. I will probably only finance the car for two or three months at most but, I am thinking that I need to ensure that I am fully covered. Any thoughts from anyone who has gone this route please.
  3. Thank you Bob, your info gives me a bit of extra ammo to go back to the dealer with.
  4. Great! Thank you folks for your prompt and helpful replies. Michael, I have never ever garaged any car that I have owned throughout my life. I'm a non-believer in that regard I'm afraid.
  5. My garage is a woodworking workshop and therefore it is impossible to get the car in there. With every car that I have owned, on frosty mornings I start the car up and let it warm up on the driveway, this clears all of the frost/ice from the windows and gets the car comfortably warm ready to set off on my journey. I don't think that I can do that with the 300h can I. Also, I am wondering how the heating sytem actually works. With a 'normal' car, you set off on your journey and after a while the engine gets warm and starts to distribute heat into the cabin and you get nice and cozy. If I had a 300h and decided to pop into town, which is less than 3 miles away, I would set off and, on the way I will be going through some 20mph areas and mostly 30mph areas but, the opportunities to get up to 30mph will be few and far between because of traffic, meaning I think, that the petrol engine will not cut in at any point on the journey and so, if the engine doesn't get chance to heat up, how does the heating/air conditioning work? Sorry to keep coming up with these questions but if I don't ask I wont know.............will I !
  6. Does the IS300h have a cambelt or is it a chain, same as the 250?
  7. Welcome Andy. You've got yourself a cracking car there. I started off with a 220d and then moved on to the 250SE-L, both of them were super cars but the 250 comes out as top-dog. I have sold my 250 and so am Lexusless at the moment but I'm hoping to have my next one before the end of the month. There are lots of great people on this forum and so you will get all of the help/guidance that you will ever need. Just post your question and the advice will start to fly at you. Enjoy your car.
  8. Is there any way of obtaining the back issues of this article. Don't suppose it will be on iPlayer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
  9. Well, it turns out not to have been such a stupid question after all eh! Thank you all for your input, with special thanks to ColinBarber for the usual comprehensive input. I have my fingers crossed that I will be doing my own IS300h in-car investigations before January is out! Keep your eyes peeled!!
  10. I fitted the Po-40 kit to my IS220d but I think that it is highly unlikely that anyone has done the mod to a 300h yet. You may need to get hold of a wiring diagram to forward on to Michael.
  11. Does the IS300h have a 12v battery under the bonnet the same as an ordinary car? Or, is all of the cars electrics dealt with by the battery/ies in the boot. If you find yourself in a 'Flat battery' situation, is it dealt with by way of a 'normal' battery charger and, if there is a battery under the bonnet where you would normally connect said charger, does this charge get fed through to the battery/ies in the boot or, are they two entirely seperate entities? Wipe that grin off your face!!! I know it may sound stupid but I really don't know the answer!
  12. Simple quick question please. When you engage reverse on the IS300h Premier version, do the mirrors dip the same as they did on my IS250 SE-L? Thank you.
  13. Apologies if I'm wrong but I thought that I had read somewhere that he was no longer available. Again, my sincere apologies if I am wrong.
  14. These illuminated door cills aren't even standard on the IS300h Premier. You can buy them apparently. Agree they should be standard across the range
  15. Many thanks Bob and David for your replies. I will definitely be getting a spacesaver and its good to know that the jacking points are still there. It didn't cross my mind about jacking it up to inflate with the gunge.
  16. Knowing that the IS30h has no spare wheel, it was/is my intention to get me a spacesaver, for more peace of mind. I think that I have read somewhere on the forum that a couple of members have already purchased one and so I have a couple of questions please for those of you who have made such a purchase. Did you buy it from a dealer, and what do they cost. I seem to remember that someone got one and it came with a nice outer cover. Secondly, as there is no spare wheel with the car, there will obviously not be a jack either and so this too will be an additional purchase. Thirdly, and more importantly I think, as it was the manufacturers intention not to provide a spare wheel, do they still provide the normal owner/user jacking points on the car, because if not, jacking up the car without them could be decidedly dodgy. I wonder if anyone has actually checked this out before buying the spacesaver and jack. Once again, comments will be gratefully received. Thank you.
  17. Where do you look to see what firmware is on the car, I may need to be looking quite soon!
  18. Following the mention on this forum of new car deals via 'Drive the Deal' I have been scrutinising what is available and some of the prices are amazing. I am wondering though, is it worth asking my local dealership if they can 'price match' anything that I might decide to pursue? Looking through the site gets a little confusing inasmuch that the listings show :- 300h Luxury Auto Business Navigation Navigation Navigation Leather Leather The above in some instances are shown more than once but, if you click on them one at a time you will see that although the heading is the same, the listing price is different, anyone know why this is? As an example, the 300h Business Navigation is listed twice but, if you click on the first one it shows a starting price of £31990.00 and, when you click on the second entry, it shows a price of £30490.00.........confusing. Also, having made a choice, is it then possible to see the complete specification listing for the chosen car?
  19. Yes, I think that Michael is nearer the mark with his thoughts.
  20. A guess from a grey haired old codger would be "Don't wash your car in the area of the repair for at least 48 hours" Might be wrong but that would be my thought.
  21. Good morning folks, I would just like to wish all of the members of the LOC a Very Happy Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2015 too. With massive thanks to everyone who has helped me with my various little queries etc. Have a great time folks.
  22. "I am still waiting on receiving information on whether I can take out the extended warranty even though the car is only 6 months old. Bahh Humbug !!!!" I spoke to my local dealer today and he has assured me that I can take the 'Two for One' at £795.00 and have it kick-in when the manufacturers warranty runs out in two years time. It will be interesting to see whether or not you get the same reply from your dealer. Keep us informed.
