Servicing And Extended Warranty
bluenose1940 replied to C Mclean's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I have been quoted £38.84 per month for 30months for a service plan for my 300h, which equates to a total outlay of £1165.20. It seems that the replacement company for EMAC will only do 30 months as opposed to EMAC's 36months. The cost for 3 services, 2 full plus 1 intermediate comes to £1135.00 and so I am wondering why the £30.00 difference. I am booked in at the dealer on Friday to have the non-dipping door mirror fixed and an update of the software and so I will ask the question then. Anyone have any further thoughts on this? -
Dash Cam
bluenose1940 replied to McHaggis69's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Yes I have one. I purchased a Panorama X2 which is a front and back jobby but, I was lucky because I was just purchasing my IS300h and got the dealer to include the fitting as part of the deal. All of the wires/cables both front and rear are hidden from view. If you dont already know about it, go and have a look at this forum, I found it very helpful https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/forums/general-dash-cam-discussion.9/ -

How lovely to hear from you again Michael, I'm glad that you took the time to come in oon this, I would have hated to set lebon on the road to disaster!! Hope you are keeping well Michael, it must be Autumn time for you now whilst we are looking forward to Spring and hopefully an Ozzy type summer. Best wishes my friend. -

lebon, this is a pretty straightforward DIY job. I did my 220d when I was 71 and so if I can do it, anyone can. It comes with very explanatory notes/guidance and Michael and Mr P are on the other end of 'Messenger' if you need them. -
Is There A Doctor In The House?
bluenose1940 replied to bluenose1940's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
You are absolutely right Edward, I've just been out and switched my lights on and the one on the rear drivers side is in fact the rear fog light, even though it looks like a reversing light when not in use. Well spotted, I boobed there didn't I. Yes I have electric seats on both sides but only the drivers seat is memory but yes, they are both heated and cooled too. . My 250 had memory on both sides though. -

My personal view is that the cut-backs are a pretty poor show really. Although the IS300h is indeed avery very nice car, the amount of cutting back done by Lexus leads to a slight feeling of disappointment. Another couple of things spring to mind too, in my previous 250SE-L I had electric memory seats for drivers and passengers, also, the pockets in the doors were levered on the 250 and could be opened up a little, not so in the 300h, they are now an up-market version of the door pockets that were in a 1960's mini. Overall I am thrilled with my car, it is without doubt the best car that I have ever, or will ever, own. Interestingly I could have purchased 10 of my first ever home with what I have paid for it!!! Getting back to the matter of the lights, I am wondering if the same electrical loom is used for both left-hand and right-hand drive vehicles with the light fittings only fitted as appropriate for the country being exported to. If this is the case, then all that will be needed will be bulbs and bulb holders as the lenses are already there. -

"Perhaps 'handed' for RHD and LHD markets?" My thoughts exactly, and thats why I think that it might be possible to get hold of the 'bits' (bulbs and bulb holders) and do a bit of DIY. Not sure if it might affect the warranty situation though. -
Is There A Doctor In The House?
bluenose1940 posted a topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Sorry, I meant to say is there an auto-electrician in the house! lol I have a question for him/her. Although the 300h's only have one reversing light and I think, only one rear fog light, there are two lenses for each but only one of each working. My question is therefore, is it possible to link the non-operational one/s to the one/s that do work so that we can have the more sensible setup of two of each which, in the case of the reversing light would give much better illumination, particularly for those drivers who are flexibly challenged as regards owl-like movements of the head and neck and rely totally on the wing mirrors for their reversing manouevres which become particularly difficult in poorly lit areas and, in the case of the rear fog light, having two of them eliminates the thought that you might be following a motorbike in heavy mist or fog. One further question that I don't know the answer to is, when you are driving in daylight with your DRL's operating, is there anything on at the rear or, do you have to switch on your sidelights which automatically includes your rear lights. -
More Questionsand Points On The 300H
bluenose1940 replied to bluenose1940's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Edward, I wasn't meaning a full heated windscreen. On my previous IS250 SE-L there was a button that you could press and it just heated the bottom couple of inches of the screen to ensure that the wiper blades didn't get shredded if they had been frozen to the screen. It is an option on the 300h but as I've alread said, it really should be standard. -

I don't belieeeeeve it! The next thing that I've found that I aint not got, is the windscreen de-icer button. I really think that this should not even be an option, it should definitely be standard in my opinion. I am still looking at what I have and have not got but, I'm beginning to think that my IS250 SE-L was better equipped than my current Premier. My thoughts are that the Premier edition really ought to have everything on it, they're expensive enough. Too much cost-cutting methinks. -

One or two other things I have noticed........... Why on earth have Lexus decided to fit only one reversing light. As stupid as not providing a spare wheel in my opinion. Why have they removed the hooks in the boot where you could hang your cargo net. yes they do still provide a cargo net as an option but its not the same as I had in my 250. Will probably find more as I explore the vehicle. -

Hi David, thanks for this. I am using an Apple iPhone 4s. Interestingly, when I went out to the car to try to resolve my queries, the screen said 'Phone Connected' and yet I had left it on the desk in my study!! If I decide to go for the updates, do they have to go through the sequence of them going 'C' 'D' 'E' and then 'F' or can they just go straight to 'F' ? -

Thanks folks, I have now found the Auto-Zoom feature and I think, the software info too. The information that I have found re the software is as follows:- Model ID 13LHENCU-BB01 HARD No 86130-53182 NAVIGATION VC03101B Now I am wondering, is the number shown against 'Navigation' the number that some members are referring to when they say that they have gone from D to E and finally are right up-to-date now with F. If this is the case, I am way behind the times if the 'B' is my version. Can anyone confirm that I am looking at the right information please? Many thanks. -
Congratulations on your new car. Same colour as my Premier which I only got last Monday. . As you say, lots to learn and, as you get older it takes a few reads before it sticks in the brain so it will take me a while to get to grips with it all. Enjoy your new car.

Where do I find the 'Auto Zoom' feature that I have seen mentioned on here. I have looked everywhere I thought but, there must be somewhere that I haven't looked 'cause I haven't found it yet! Also, can anyone tell me how I can check to see what level I am at with firmware/software (not sure which it is). I have seen people mention that they are staying at 'D', some are at 'E' and some are right up-to-date with 'F'. I just don't know where to look. One thing that I am disappointed with is that there are no hooks in the boot to fix a cargo net to. I found this a very useful thing to have in my IS250. They (Lexus) do seem to have done away with some nice touches that were on the 250, such as illuminated scuff plates, rear blind, the earlier mentioned cargo net, I don't doubt that I will come across others in time. The quality of the boot interior seems inferior to the 250 too.

Elevation at long last, I always wanted to be a posh bugger! Wait til I tell er indoors! I don't think the status will last 'cause I don't not talk proper I don't :winky: -
I'm a bit of a shorty (would have been a policeman if I was taller!) and when I get into my car I have a bit of a problem reaching the brake pedal before pressing the power switch. Today I discovered a bit of a gem. Most of you are probably aware of this but I haven't seen it mentioned before on here. I have found that when I get into the car, if I put my seatbelt on before doing anything else, the seat, steering wheel and door mirrors all move to the pre-set memory position and I can then reach the pedal without any problems.........brilliant. I have also since read that this can be achieved by setting the memory and linking it to the door unlock but I haven't tried this yet.

No no no, this is not another story of 'The one that got away' more so a tale of what I caught and will definitely be keeping. My 'catch' comes in at over 15feet long and tips the scales at over 4500lbs and, without any doubt whatsoever is the best catch in all my years of fishing!! Here are a couple of piccy's Seriously folks, after all my threads/posts over the past few months, I have finally got there. The car is a smidgen over one year old, it is Mesa Red, it is the Premier version, it has 4600 miles on the clock, it has a Tracker fitted, the dealer very kindly fitted my Dashcam including a rear one as part of the deal. I have got 4 years warranty on it (I purchased the 2 for 1 extended warranty that kicks in after the remainder of the manufacturers warranty ends in December 2016) It also came with a full tank of fuel. I have met the previous owner, he lives less than a mile from me. I mentioned this story in an earlier thread, here is an extract from that thread - "Funny thing this morning, I walked into a shop and tripped up a step as I didn't notice the 'MIND THE STEP' notice as I was looking at the chap who was holding the door open for me. We exchanged pleasantries and each went about our business. Fifteen minutes later I was walking back to my car and there was the same chap sitting in a beautiful red IS300h Premier and so I tapped the window and got chatting to him again. he has had the car for 12 months and he is part exchanging it at the end of December as he is getting an NX300h as it will be easier to get into and out of. The car has only got just over 4000miles on the clock. Lucky chappie eh!" Thanks to all you members who have been so helpful with answers to my many and varied questions on the 300h I now have to spend some time getting to know the car and all of its goodies, and so I expect that I will have to ask more questions. One question already, is there any way that I can tell if I have the 'F' update that I have seen mentioned in other threads?

Insurance Question
bluenose1940 replied to bluenose1940's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Quote from Martin who posted at #18 "With insurance companies you never know how good they are until you need to call on them to make good on their side of the agreement." Precisely why I asked the question when starting the thread. I was looking for a competetive premium to go with some recommended customer service. -

Blimey Bob, what did you actually pay? I've got maximum NCD and have been quoted £231.65 with protected bonus. -

Non taken David. I had my 250 insured with them and so asked them for an idea on the 300h if I should get one, they weren't competetive at all I'm afraid. -
