  1. Whenever I go out in my car, I obviously have to park it. Sometimes it is done by 'vertical parking' and sometimes it is 'parallel parking'. When vertical parking I always make use of both the reversing camera and the dipping wing mirrors, which I think are a fantastic option to have available. When parallel parking, I do it automatically, having driven for about 57years, it's second nature I suppose. I am wondering how many of you have made use of the 'parallel parking' option on the screen and if so, do you find it easy to use. I must admit to not having summoned up the courage to give it a go yet. I would be interested to hear your thoughts. One thing that I saw in the manual, it mentions on more than one occasion, to ensure that the vehicle is totally stopped when turning the steering wheel. Now I have always been taught NEVER to turn the steering wheel whilst the vehicle is stationary, this will avoid undue strain being put on various parts. I have always ensured that my car is moving, however slowly when I am carrying out a manouvre. Any thoughts on this? One thought on 'automatic parking', my cousin had a VW Golf that had this option, he doesn't own it anymore but, whilst he had it, he never even gave it a try!!!
  2. Agree totally with toffee_pie, below are my comments posted recently in the thread "IS300h As a Family Car" I have to agree totally with these comments. They are precisely me. If you could hear my wifes comments when I am parking my car! I am so fussy, even to the point of moving it again if I think I need to. If I should ever be cajoled into going to the supermarket in my car, I always park as far away from the entrance as possible, much to my wife's annoyance. If I have to park amongst the many, then I always look for a space between other quality motors. I always keep a bottle of Bird Dropping spray handy too, the seagulls round here enjoy Bomber Command status!
  3. Sorry to hear this Dave. Some inconsiderate yeti I expect. It's similar to when you wallpaper a room and put a little tear in the paper, no one can see it, but you know it's there, and it irritates.

  5. My 220d was an 07 and I could do it on that. You definitely can't reset the tank average, that sets itself on fill-up as mentioned above.
  6. Yep, absolutely right, there is plenty of room in the car, i have 5 adults in mine frequently without any bother at all. i couldn't carry all their bits and bobs aswell though! As I said earlier, if I was much younger with a family, i would definitely go for an estate or a hatchback.
  7. My kids are all in their forties now and so I don't have that problem anymore. However, what I would say is, I don't like driving around without a spare wheel and so I have purchased a spacesaver and obviously this takes up valuable space in the boot. When we go off to the caravan (regularly) I find that I have to load up part of the rear seat as the dog takes up one half of it. If you're not put off by the thought of putting gunge in a punctured tyre (I am) then the boot is of a reasonable size without the spacesaver. From a personal standpoint, If I were (many years) younger and had a family, I would not buy the IS300h. I'm just glad that my kids are all grown up and so are the grandchildren, they no longer want to go out with nan and gramps and, this has put me in the marvellous position of being able to own and enjoy my car, and boy do I love it!
  8. Couldn't fault my 220d, only got rid of it because of the very low mileage that I now do. Enjoy your car.
  9. Welcome back!!! Busy busy man!!! Enjoy your car!!!
  10. Yes, Normski is right, you can set the average for a trip by doing as he says. For some reason though I thought that the OP meant the tank average. Sorry!
  11. I'm not 100% on this but I think the tank average only resets itself on fill-up
  12. I'm not sure if this matter has been raised before. I spotted it this morning. http://www.motoring.co.uk/car-news/new-rules-mot-fail-for-faulty-tyre-pressure-monitor_66345?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=motoring-200415&src=motoring
  13. I too will be interested in the responses to this thread as I am a new owner of a 300h myself. At the moment I am driving mine exactly the same way that I drove my 250. I went to Bridport last week (from Exmouth) and the screen was showing 62mpg at times. The overall round trip gave a figure of 54.9mpg I am over the moon with every aspect of my car but still learning by the day. The techy bits get me foxed and it takes me a time to get my head round it all. When I was younger I could read or hear something once and it would stick, not anymore Im afraid! However, with the splendid members on here, I can always get my answer in the end. Enjoy your car Hardy.
  14. Yes i think that to buy new from a dealer would be an expensive option. A swap could be a possibility of course. Thanks for your input.
  15. +1 for the DAS6.................although I went for the pro version
  16. You're probably completely right Rabbers. I will most likely stick with what I've got in the end!
  17. Michael, the ride does seem a little 'hard' from time to time. i've never really been a fan of low profile tyres and would like a bit more rubber. This also helps I think, with lessening the chance of 'kerbing' the wheels . Anyone out there driving on 16" wheels who would care to relate their experience/thoughts on them?
  18. All sounds a bit of a pain Gang. Thanks for all the info though. If I'd have thought about it at purchase time I could have said, "fit some 17" wheels and I'll buy it" I expect that they would have done that without too much hassle.
  19. I have had a good look through this forum but haven't found anything yet as regards to changing down from 18" wheels to 17's I am wondering if anyone has done it after purchasing their car and if so, can they give an indication of cost and, if it is done via Lexus, do they make any allowance for the 18" wheels and tyres? Mine have only done 5000 miles and so are in pretty good nick really. If Lexus don't/won't get involved, are there any other sources to pursue. As my car was 12months old when I bought it, I never thought to ask if they might change them for me.
  20. Thanks chaps, very helpful. When you are looking at the 'Energy' screen, am I correct in thinking that the battery icon you can see, is that of the Hybrid System. Mine seems to get quite low at times and I have only ever seen it 'full' i.e all bars filled in, on one occasion.
  21. Can anyone tell me please, using my car as a retired person rather than someone commuting to work on a daily basis, i.e. popping out for a 20 mile round trip, coming back and parking up, then a 4 mile round trip into town and then parking up again for possibly a couple of days before using it again, somtimes even leaving it for 4 days before staring it up again................................. if I was to put a multimeter across my battery, what reading should I expect to see at various times if the battery is in a 'healthy state'? I know (at least I think I know) that it won't read a straight 12 volts. Thank you.
  22. That's a relief, thank you ColinBarber. Mind you I have to admit that I was a little unsettled during the night, wondering if the alarm might just go off again! I even put the keyfob on the bedside cabinet in case it was needed quickly!
  23. When I purchased my car, the dealer fitted a dashcam for me (hardwired) but I have had a couple of problems with the parking mode option draining the battery. The manufacture has updated the firmware and so it is hoped that it won't happen again. I have had the battery on charge today but, when I disconnected the charger and then reconnected the negative lead to the battery, the alarm went off. This did not happen the last time that I had to do this. Does anyone know what might have caused the alarm to sound please? Many thanks.
  24. That's right, Powerenhancer. i've just ordered some AR6400 for initial use and then I will continue with the AR6200 at every fill-up. I've done this with my 220d and my 250 and I intend to continue with the 300h Good stuff methinks!
  25. Yes mine are 18" wheels. As for the rarity and exclusivity of the car, I mentioned in one of my other threads that I was on the road for a full eight hours on Friday and in that time I saw just two other Lexus, I think one was an RX300 and the other was a 450 of some sort. Also when I go for a walk along the seafront, i always make a point of counting how many I see in the one to two hours that I'm down there and the answer is more often than not........................NIL, brings out a big smile on my face!! Loads of Mercs, Bm's, Ford,Vw's, Skodas Enjoy your car.
