  1. Well, because it was such a diabolically outrageous demostration of how not to drive, I have taken the bull by the horns and have reported the incident. Apparently PC49 will be round at some point to collect the evidence. I will report back with the outcome. Edit.........Blimey, the police have just called me and will be with me at 2pm today.
  2. Hi Edward, yes everything is absolutely crystal clear. I thought about posting it up on here but I'm not sure if that would be the right thing to do. Anyone have any ideas where I should report it to, do I just contact the local police station?
  3. I have front and rear dashcams fitted to my IS. I was on my way home yesterday from a weekend away and an incident occurred which has been caught on both cameras and is crystal clear. I had been driving in a line of traffic for about 15 miles or so and there was a chap behind me in a Ford. There are not many opportunities to overtake on this particular road and, because of this the line of traffic remained constant over most of this distance, with just the odd car turning off the main road now and again. We then approached a set of traffic lights at a four-way non-bollarded junction. There were only four cars in front of me as we approached the lights, The first two were making a right turn, which they eventually did and, the second two were going straight on. The car immediately in front of me was about half way over the junction as the lights changed to amber and then red. I had stopped at the white line with the lights on red but, the chap behind simply pulled out from behind me and went across the red light. This to me was very dangerous and was at the very least 'driving without due care and attention' Is this worth reporting or would I be wasting my time. It is people like this who cause many accidents and I feel that their poor driving abilities should be brought to their attention and that these things don't go unnoticed. I have saved the files to my pc so that they don't get overwitten. EDIT - Just looking at the video again, he/she started the overtaking manoeuvre whilst still within the zig-zag lines, another offence!!
  4. i'm with Aviva, Fully Comp, Protected NCD, Legal, etc. etc. @ £213.00 p.a. which I think is pretty good.
  5. Hi Scott, if your vehicle is equipped with this option, the adjuster button must be switched to either 'L' or 'R', they won't work if it's in the middle, i.e. neither chosen.
  6. Most of you fellow members are already aware of the fact that I'm not too brill with the technical bits of our beloved IS's and so, I am once again seeking a little help and guidance please. I have an Apple iPhone 4s which I use all of the time (phone calls and texting), including via Bluetooth in the car. I don't use it for connecting to the internet or anything but, my wife, who seems to spend endless hours on the internet and facebook etc, she has an iPhone 5s which has 3G and 4G connections. I am wondering therefore, if I connect my wiifes phone to the car via Bluetooth (I think that I can 'pair' up to 5 devices) what exactly will this give me as far as in-car connections go. I am wondering if I can get 'Streetview' and suchlike. (I think that's what it's called) Many thanks.
  7. I know that people will say that the seagulls were here before us but, they really are a pain. I kid you not, if I could have put yesterdays 'bombing' together as one lump, it would have been almost the size of a cow pat!!! We were on the seafront yesterday enjoying a coffee, the beach was pretty busy and, some folks just below us were enjoying a picnic when they were attacked by 20 or so gulls swooping down on them and snatching their sarnies. Only last week we saw a party of school kids visiting, they all went and bought themselves an ice cream and three of them had theirs gobbled up by the pesky gulls. The problems have been (mostly) caused by visitors feeding them, despite the many notices saying DON'T FEED THE SEAGULLS. I now keep a spray bottle of poo remover with me at all times but, yesterdays event would have needed four of them so the bucket was the best bet. "buy a car cover, I have no time for this crap (pardon the pun)." toffee_pie, do you use a car cover? If you do, are there any problems caused by such a cover rubbing on the paintwork when it is windy? "Look on the positive side, that could have been your head!!!" The-Acre, I was sat in the garden two weeks ago and a gull went overhead and dropped his bomb, missed my head by inches, landed on my chest! I had just changed my shirt ready to go out!
  8. Some of you may recall my thread (link below) in which I covered the perils of living by the sea. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/81749-perils-of-living-by-the-sea/ About 15 minutes ago my neighbour knocked my door and said that I might want to get a bucket and sponge on the go. He said that he was just about to get into his car when he heard an almighty bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, almost like a machine gun going off. It took him by surprise and he quickly looked around to see what was happening, and then he saw it. He described it as the worst bird bombing he had ever seen. I have taken a photograph but unfortunately it doesn't do it justice. Although it is nice and sunny at the moment, the glare of the sun makes it difficult to see the extent of the bombing. The mess extends from the back of the car, across the boot lid and all up the rear window, across the roof and onto the windscreen. The photograph doesn't even show how bad the rear window is but, I'm sure that you will get the general idea. The was even a pile on the floor beneath the rear of the car. I wasn't prepared to leave it in situ until I could get a better shot. i'm sure that you will understand why!!!
  9. Clever eh Daniel, a bit further up the scale than my swap though!!
  10. Agree totally with all that has been said above. I only ever knock mine out of drive if it looks as though I will be stationary for more than a few minutes. The foot operated handbrake becomes second nature very quickly. Enjoy your new car, you will absolutely love it!
  11. Sorry to hear of your woes BB. This is exactly why I invested in a spacesaver. Total peace of mind and it should get me to my planned destination. Not too sure but I think the gunk is single use. Don't know how much to replace I'm afraid.
  12. All of this is quite funny!! A few years ago when I bought my Rover 75 Connoisseur in dark blue, after I had had it for a few weeks, I began to wish that I had got the higher spec jobby and so, I started to look around for one and luckily one turned up, exactly the same colour as mine. There were a lot of differences mind, leather seats being one of them, different alloys, computer etc etc. Went off and did the swap, got it home and the car was used on a daily basis by both of us but, it took my wife, friends and family close on 4 months before they realised that I had changed it!!!
  13. Some great replies folks, for which many thanks. I'll print em off at some point, can't wait to see the change of expression on her face!
  14. When I had my caravan Lexus quoted me for the supply and fit of a tow bar. Twas a bit spensive I recall.
  15. Well, I really do love my IS300h but her indoors has got me seething a bit this morning. Enjoying our usual stroll along the seafront with the dog today, came across a very very nice 60 plate RX450h in Black parked up. I pointed it out to my wife and she said that she would rather that I had bought one of those instead of mine. When I asked her why, she said that mine was an 'old mans' car and that she was prepared to bet that the average age of an owner of the 300h was probably between 60 and 80 years. I am a smidgeon short of 75 myself but, she doesn't class me as old as fortunately, I am a pretty active person. The good lady is 10 years younger than me by the way As a result of this, I am wondering what is the average age of a 300h owner? Anyone prepared to chip in?
  16. Wonder if they have one of these in Devon and Somerset, shouldn't think so though, surely they couldn't afford one of those AND to give the Big Chief a 6% salary increase!!
  17. You definitely have done the right thing. I had a super 220d, no problems with it whatsoever but, I changed it for the 250 and it is far superior in my book.
  18. My wife would never drive my IS250, she said it was too big but, she always drove the VW Passat that we had. Some of you may recall my threads from earlier last year where I was seriously thinking about buying a CT because my cousin had bought one and, his wife just loved driving it. She had told my wife how much she enjoyed it and that got me very close to making the change but then, I had my head turned by the IS300h and now she won't drive that.............................thankfully!!! Don't tell her I said that eh!
  19. I have to agree with all that has been said above. I have had both the 220d and the 250, both very very nice cars but, the 250 wins easily. Both models that I had were the SE-L, I've no hesitation in recommending that you go for that. I got very good returns with both cars.
  20. Hi again Richard, well that's amazing, Sidmouth is our favourite place too, we go there frequently. We also like Lyme Regis, in fact we have a static caravan based at Charmouth, just a couple of miles further on. How long are you down for?
  21. What part of Devon are you visiting Richard/ Looks as though the weather is set to be reasonably good down here all over the weekend. I'm sure that you will enjoy your trip.
  22. to get a name and address from a registration number. I have video evidence of a vehicle/driver with no idea of lane discipline, cutting me up and almost smashing into me recently. I would love to put the video on a DVD and send it to them for them to see how poor their driving is.
  23. Just a thought from me, I am a big fan of the 'slightly off' vertical parking, not sure what they call it, I would tend to call it 'chevron parking' Rightly or wrongly, I always get the impression that there is more room available with this type.
