  1. I can set the 'Parking time' on my dashcam for quite a lengthy time but usually set for 4 hours as I'm not usually away from my car for longer than that.
  2. Quick diagnosis, I'm afraid you have Chronic Lexus disease, there is no known cure I'm afraid, but we all learn to live with it
  3. Welcome Desmond, congratulations on your newly acquired car, I'm sure that you will get a great deal of pleasure from it. I felt just like you when I got my first Lexus, an IS220d, it was the best car ever for me too. I then went on to an IS250 and that became the best ever and I've done it again now by going to the IS300h. You will also get a great deal of pleasure from this forum, there are lots of great people on here, always ready and willing to help. Ask any question and you will get an answer. Enjoy your car. Sun is shining this morning so off you go for a nice long drive!
  4. On a drive from Exmouth to Charmouth I have had a reading of 61mpg but generally speaking on local driving I'm showing between 48 and 52, which really pleases me.
  5. I still think that the Premier version should have ALL of the bells and whistles. I'm still disappointed at the items that have been left out that I had on my SE-L. I know that those missed out can often be had as 'options' but, I really do think that the so called 'Top of the Range' should have them ALL as standard. Love Richard's comments :D
  6. I often flash my lights to say 'Thank you' to someone who has let me in/cross and they always seem instantaneous to me. I'll check again today though.
  7. Welcome Jag, my first Lexus was the 220d SE-L, lovely motor! Yours looks the same colour that I had too. I'm sure that you will get great pleasure from your new car. You will also get a lot of pleasure from this forum too. Lots of good people on here, very very helpful. Enjoy your car!
  8. Welcome Tony, you are getting yourself an absolutely cracking motor. I started my Lexus life with an IS220d, followed it up with a 250 SE-L and now on the 300h You will love the car and you will get lots of help on here, there are some brilliant people with lots of answers to queries. Enjoy!!!!!
  9. Just out of interest, when I did my 220d, I managed to do it without completely removing the door panel. I just found something the right size to sit the panel on and it was fine. I also made sure that I put/fixed the unit on the shelf below the switch panel so that if I needed to get at it at some future time, all I had to do was remove said switch panel instead of the complete door panel.
  10. I was in Charmouth Dorset yesterday and saw the following :- First, here are the ingredients - one 4 x 4 vehicle two giggly young mothers three children main road - bus route double yellow lines ice cream shop Said young mothers pull up outside ice cream shop, double yellow lines clearly visible, they park by partly mounting the pavement, no pushchairs or mobility scooters could get past without going into the road. On the opposite side of the road, limited time parking is available but no spaces at this time. There is also a car park just around the corner from the ice cream shop. Everyone jumps from the 4 x 4 and invades the ice cream shop, great deliberations ensue because there is so much choice, it really is a very difficult task to make a decision as to which combination of flavours to go for to fill the chosen 'double cones', so much so that people behind decide not to wait any longer and either give up on the idea of an ice cream altogether or, to find another shop. All this time (some ten minutes) the hazards are happily blinking away on the by now very lonely 4 x 4. Decision made, money paid, back out to the car, kids pile in the back, young mums lift the tailgate and plonk their backsides against the rear of the car and happily lick away at their well made choice of flavour/s, totally oblivious of the vehicles having to stop behind them to allow the traffic coming down the main road in the opposite direction. Then the Exeter to Weymouth bus comes along and lo and behold, more congestion, but who cares eh, we've got our hazards on! Ice cream eaten, palate satisfied, time to go now. Oh no, can't go yet, one of them realises that some birthday cards are needed and so its off to the newsagency opposite. You may ask why I didn't say something to them. Well I had an overwhelming fear that they would knock me to the ground and sit on me whilst they finished their ice cream!!
  11. The attitude of some motorists never ceases to amaze me. Many of them are totally selfish, uncaring and lazy cretins. A lot of these people really are extremely lazy, if they are visiting someone they absolutely need to park outside of the house they are visiting, not 50 yards away, not even 10 feet away, no no, they can't be expected to walk any distance at all. So much so that just last week, I and another driver had to knock a few doors to get someone to move their car/s as the traffic had come to a standstill, they had parked exactly opposite each other and nothing could get through! I hope that you have caused the Civic owner a lot of inconvenience. They might learn something....................................................then again, they might not!
  12. Just spotted these stats http://www.msn.com/en-gb/cars/enthusiasts/car-labour-rate-postcode-lottery-revealed/ar-AAdEZpj?ocid=MSN_UK_NL_MO35
  13. Welcome to the club Alex. This is a great place to be. Someone will come along shortly with the answers to your questions. Enjoy your car.
  14. Just as Normski says, contact Michael and he will put you right. I did them on my 2007 IS220d and they worked a treat. Well worth doing.
  15. How amazing is that! I've got it all set up now. I was trying to do it in the car because I thought that it was the most logical route, i.e. trying to get what was on the screen on my phone to appear on the screen in my car. As I say, it is all set up now and it's brilliant. I asked my wife to send me a text as a tester and, whilst driving along, a message appeared on the screen saying something like "message received from Lin" and there was an option at the bottom of the screen to read or not. I pressed yes and it read the message out to me, clear as you like. Thanks for your help folks. Much appreciated.
  16. Told you I was a grey haired old codger. I've been looking in the car instead of the phone. What am I like eh??????? What on earth is siri and what are imessages? I'll just get me quill and parchment and make some notes!!!!
  17. Hiya DJP, try as I might, when I go into Set-Up bluetooth, i cannot see an i for love nor money......sorry to be a pain.
  18. Hi folks, Just wondering......I have 3G switched on on my Apple iPhone 4S and am wondering if I can get text messages to appear on my SatNav screen. I think that I may have read somewhere that some of you are able to get it but I'm wondering if they may be using a more up-to-date phone. Not sure how old my phone is as i got it from my granddaughter some time ago.
  19. Rayaan Even better, thank you. Just waiting for the 'interior' version now. Thanks again for all your efforts. Brilliant.
  20. Yes I can agree with this. i purchased my first Lexus IS220d from Bristol. Dealt with a chap called Marcus Cliffe, excellent chap, extremely helpful.
  21. Congratulations on the new car Mark. I had the same treatment at Lexus Exeter when I got mine in February. Private room to do the paperwork, tea and biscuits, introductions to a couple of people. Absolutely first class, could not fault the service in any way. All this and a full tank of petrol too!
  22. Excellent! well done Normski, a very clever bit of pc work. Thank you very much indeed.
  23. The 12v battery doesn't crank the engine at all on a hybrid :winky: I'm lost now, if the 12v battery doesn't crank the engine, why couldn't I start the car when the 12v battery was flat? Remember.......I'm not very good at the techie bits!! Still learning every day
  24. Have a read of this folks.............. http://www.motoring.co.uk/car-news/car-hackers-remotely-take-control-and-crash_66743?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=motoring-290715&src=motoring
