Typical venue Bluewater for a chat, catch up, coffee and donoughts ? :)

    Weather should be nice.

    Cheers

  3. Hi Tony,

Even with a fault, Lexus if they get it in, they will put it in an auction (ie BCA) and they will put a minimum reserve on it of £4500 ... !!! The trade value of your car even with a mechanical fault is not £2500!!! no way!

I will give you an example a 2007 GS450h with 84.000miles is guided at GLASS guide £6,500 trade value. And Black CAP value below avg condition £5,400, average condition £5,950, and clean condition at £6,450.

A retail suggested sale value of £8,450 to £9,050

Now where on earth they ended up offering you £2,500???? I think the dealer is better off convincing you buy a new car from them, they would have a profit of the car you buy, then they would have a massive profit of the car you exchange and the person with the real loss will be you.

I am sorry to hear your story.

I have some problems with my 407 Coupe 2.7 V6 HDi, typical AISIN transmision solenoid failed, but I have decided to order the parts from the states and have a gearbox specialist replace them. (Peugeot wanted £1,500.00 at least for the job).

Same thinking with my GS300 the ABS/Brake pump failed (Lexus wanted 3 times the value of the car for it) ... got a used one. And when I enquired Lexus about the pins on my rear break pads .... (they were very corroded and I wanted them replaced). Lexus in US sells them as rear brake pads fitting kits. When I called Lexus in canterbury to enquire about the part. They said that the pins are not supplied seperatelly and I have to buy the WHOLE caliper! ??? I said are you kidding, shall I give you a part number to type in the system, when I told them I got the part number from a US site, they have gonne on about not being Lexus UK and they will not recognise it. They hung up the phone to me when I asked for their name. The Lexus Canterbury manager would not call me back so I could file a complaint... I then called Customer relations of Lexus and filed a complaint by them, then the canterbury manager called me and the outcome was so what you want us to do...? I gave up.

I think Lexus customer services and support for cars that are outside of any official warranty, they don't want to know...

I still think the best customer service and support I received was with my Mercedes CL500, where the car was 8yrs old and they have done complete both rear quarters replacement painted them, painted the boot, roof, bonnet. Had to take the car in 3 times to get it to my standards ... more less it cost them £9.000!!! and all that was good will gesture!

For £2,500 I would have the car and repair it ;)

  4. Lol ... there are a few more cars to add on there... but ran out of characters lol. :)

Yes the Vel Satis loving it ... it is on a lead of it's own. and the V6 Nissan engine ... is fast!! :)

UK is a petrol head heaven !! used cars are so many and so cheap in comparison to Greece ... (plus, so much better looked after).

I think not being so hot weather here... the cars do last longer.

  5. Hi Ian,

Indeed is has been removed from the ad as well, must be that the advertiser is following this conversation and has taken appropriate action removing evidence lol.

I still cannot understand though where did you see the mileage online?

It cannot be from here as they do not show the actual mileage of the car, they mention that their estimation is just to be used as a guide.

  6. I am not sure but does the IS300 not come as 5sp manual as a saloon in UK?

I know the IS300 SportCross only comes as 5sp auto ... but the IS300 saloon was coming as auto or manual.

PS.. if you look for RX8's you have to take your time as there are a lot out there!!! PM if you need more info as I only got one my self as a christmas present to me! lol it is a 2003 (231) model.

  7. If it has an amp, it might be the reason why it is not playing loud enough?

You will have to bypass the factory amp which I believe is located on the right of the passenger footwell??

If you search for it, it should come up.

The speakers do not require an amplifier to run as long as the built in amplifier of the headunit is decent enough.

I did have two different non factory head units on my IS300 and they worked fine on there. However it was not me that originally removed the OEM headunit so I am not sure which cables they bypassed.

oohh and a silly question? assuming the DVD Radio you have is already connected? have you enabled the LOUDNESS to ON? this makes a lot of difference in some headunit on the output.

  8. Philip Welcome :)

Guys the link that is supplied it does not show mileage.... it just says suggested average mileage of a car of its age.

It is not the mileage the specific car should have. It says to be used as a guide only in order to judge if a car has high mileage for its age or not.

I usually leave a modified car alone... and look for a fairly standard car so I can modify it my self. at least then I know if a car has been loved or not.

My IS300 gonne to the new owner about 6 months ago as we still keep in contact he sents me pictures of extra mods he has done lol :) so at least it has gonne to a good home and cherished.

If you buy it dead cheap!! then get it as a strip car and get another box standard with low mileage and install the mods on the other one ;) I would concider that.

But the price advertised even if it is proved that it has not had an accident... and it is genuine mileage (I assume the picture with the 150000... is removed as I cannot see it lol) it is OVER PRiced!!

Noone should expect to sell a car that is worth £1,800 in a mint condition for £4,450!????

We all know that we modify our cars for our liking not to increase the value... the mods never add to the value (usually put buyers off) so it would be worth less.
