LOL.
When I heard it - it actually made me think, if you could build a radar detector into the satnav - that'd be cool eh?
I thought it may be telling me it had lost signal, but perhaps it's 'cos I got too close to London.

Try taking the " "s out: e.g. "[....]jpg?bcqfot9AxOnZ9ETx"
and manually paste it into a browser:

but I'm guessing they'll do the same :)

I had a route programmed into my (VCD) satnav system, and about 1 mile from my destination the satnav let out a "BEEP BEEP.... BEEP BEEP". It then shut up for a bit. When I did the same route again later that night it did exactly the same in exactly the same place.
I've never noticed it before - What's the secret message?

I weighed up between an Elise, a Volvo C70, and an Audi Cabriolet. I never considered a Lexus until I pulled into one at the same place as the Audi garage (wanted to see what they'd give me part-ex). Once I'd seen the comparative refinement my mind was made up.

I guess that's good then - even if they don't match.
I'm still mystified - is the difference 'metalic-effect-outer rim' vs the 'plain-smooth-outer rim' due to a difference in rims between models, or is the metalic effect 'added' when the wheel is refurbished?
I guess I should check the rear and see which way that one swings.

On a - perhaps - related note...
Over the weekend I realised that I have an odd alloy - When I picked the car up 3 weeks ago the dealer told me he had put a brand new wheel on, anyway my 'odd' wheel has a distinct 'cut' finish - the very facing edge of the rim is very flat (NOT metalic), and looks almost as if it's been cut back to restore the surface. Comparatively the others' rims are all very metalic and sparkly, and curved.
Any idea whether I've got a poorly refurbished wheel, or did they change the alloys for the 2002 model - perhaps I've got a 2002 alloy on a 1999 car?

Have a look at: http://www.commercialbreaksandbeats.co.uk, it's an excellent site for checking out what that music is on "that damn ad"
the details of the music/ad you're talking about is at:
http://www.commercialbreaksandbeats.co.uk/...ecordingID=1509
A bit more digging suggests that Lou Reed sung it originally. I'm currently trying to get hold of either version.

Mines just over the 60,000 mark, I olny bought it three weeks ago from Guildford Lexus - and this problem was flagged by the RAC check - they said they'd fixed it though. I've a feeling that 'fixed' involved WD40. Guildford's a good 40mins away, so I'll perhaps see if I can get it into Reading, but I feel a bit cheeky as it's Guildfords problem.
Yeah it does happen every time - and it's a very definate click.
-
I've just noticed a clicking noise from my clutch pedal - after depressing it about an inch there's a single distinct click. Anyone know what it might be before I take it to the dealers?
Cheers,

Ok, I found the page. Trevorx said it how it is - once double-locks, twice deactivates the "radar sensor function" (ooh don't they make it sound posh?).
I'll have to give my dealer a good slapping - I've been pressing the fob twice ever since I've had the thing...
-
My '99 sport manual doesn't seem to specifially say - it mentions double locking but just "Close and lock all the doors, using wireless remote control".
However it does go on to say "If you lock them with the wireless remote control, the emergency flashers flash once". Indicating one press double-locks as trevorx said. I can't see the bit about disabling the montion sensors, I guessed they changed the manual.
This contradicts what I was also told by my dealer - that once locks, twice double-locks.

Cheers guys - that's just what I was after.

I just chose some turtle wax 'safe-cut' over the T-cut. It's an abrasive paste, which manages to get quite deep scratches out. comes in a yellow and red tube. Worth a try.

Has anyone got a good before and after photo of the grill?

Thanks - that worked a treat. Glad it wasn't that obvious! Guess it's hidden deep in the manual somewhere.
hmm. I must read that manual. ;)

Ok, this is probably another dumb moment, but how do I eject the satnav CD? the slot in the boot doesn't seem to have a visible eject. I can't see anything in either of the manuals either.
Also when I put a newer version map in what happens to the marked places - I assume these just copy accross?

OK, that was reasonably obvious, I'll give myself 7/10 on the blindness front.
Thanks.

Cheers guys - 'tis exactly what I'm after.
How come I can't find the 'acessories' page off www.lexus.co.uk? am I being blind?

Someone at work's just been given an A6 avant as a loan car (for his TT), anyway it had a neat elasticated cargo net that atached to 4 points on the floor of the boot and kept things from sliding around. Anyone know of anything similar for the IS200?
Are there any acessory websites that i should know about - sorry if this repeats a different thread (I had a quick search and couldn't find :o anything).

Thanks for your replies - sounds as if mine's doing what it should do - no need to get it back to the dealer yet then...
I'll try various cleaners out on the ecsaine - if indeed it's needed (sounds from your answers that it keeps itself clean - as long as no kids are involved). If I find anything works a wonder I'll be sure to let you guys know.

Hi Guys,
I'm now the the proud owner of a silver 99 IS200 Sport with 60k on the clock, and satnav. I have to say that coming from an MX-5 I'm absolutely loving it!
I have a couple of questions about what I've found so far - I wonder if anyone can enlighten:
1. I have no warning triangle or first aid kit - should the Lexus dealer have supplied this - I think they said it's a chargeable extra?
2. The boot lift off the keyring is fairly pathetic - it barely lifts it off the lock. on other cars I've seen it fully opens the boot - is there anything I can do to give it moore oomph?
3. Can anyone reccomend anything for keeping the ecsaine clean?
4. With the headlights on 'auto' it doesn't seem to ever put the sidelights on - just off->dipped is this correct?
er I think that's about it for now. I'm off to clean it again...

Matt> Genius. I must've set the sounds option in the marked point setup. I'll check tomorrow, but I'm sure that'll be it.
