  1. Paul run a thick line of chalk around the rubber seals ( buy box of kids chalk ) ....once you've done that shut boot and run a hose over the suspect area , let the car drop dry for a 5 mins then open boot see were the chalk line has been washed away .....that will be your leak I had to do the same thing for my front screen....now all sorted out .
  2. Neil what sort of mileage did you clock up as a round trip ?
  3. Going by our fellow Lexus guys on "Lexus World" you had a great day out .... https://forum.lexus-world.com/threads/meet-saturday-18th-march-at-2pm-longford-house-cannock-ws11-1sj.2772/page-2#post-62853
  4. My range of splitters are a fork type or fork and bolt to draw off, trouble with the fork type it damages the rubber boot and that's now an Mot failure ,although if replacing the item any damage it not an issue. A fellow member on the Lexus-world.com also had to take a hammer to the suspension it's just very robust but see how you get on
  5. They are all just nuts and bolts jobs, as you are not touching the inner lower control arms to subframe ,as that's the only one with a camber adjustment . The SC430 suspension has to be dismantle with a big hammer ! None of the ball joint splitters I have would touch the bottom ball joint , so undone the nut and then persuaded it with a hammer to come off , not text book but a tried and tested method. Spray all the bolts/nuts the day before with wd40 or similar , brake caliper carrier bolts can be stubborn ...go easy as if they snap they need to be drilled and re-tapped off the caliper. Caliper sliders need to be given a clean and inspection ...kits can be purchased also on eBay other than that....enjoy yourself
  6. I come from a motor mechanic back ground and agree that that thin strip of rubber between you rims and the road is critical ,I would budget for £100 a corner and be a brand I can pronounce !
  7. If the space saver was factory fitted it would have more parts holding it in but I've found once pushed into the slot it's a tight fit, so not going anywhere .
  8. Merry Christmas to members old and new
  9. Hi I also belong to http://forum.lexus-world.com/ very helpful site for SC430 stuff

  10. Hitting a caliper with a mallet is not a fix in any form ! .....either the carrier sliders are sized or the caliper piston rusted in.....maybe even a refurbished caliper is the way to go.
  11. what I've done is cut the cover to fit around the space saver wheel once fitted . I bought my wheel off eBay it was listed as fitting a GS300 but it fitted fine as you can see in the photo. I split my time on this site and the "lexus-world.com" for SC430 help and advise .
  12. Think a standard one is the way to go ....I P/X my old car in for my current SC430 at an independent dealer, they all like to do a deal maybe take you GS300 round to a few . What's your GS worth and what price for a SC430 are you looking at ?....if you don't mind saying
  13. Is it the one currently on EBay Matt black over Heathrow ?
  14. Cheeky photo on an unused promotional stand at Brands Hatch.
  15. I'm 6ft 1" and no problem.
  16. Less of a problem if full Lexus service history but if independent garage or no service history its a bit of a gamble. Basics is its a Toyota/Lexus .....so well build and should last. list..service items....Timing belt /water pump, calipers sticking, exhaust blowing, oxygen sensors . shock absorber wear out early and give a rough ride, front suspension can wear and you get a knocking or steering pulls. tyres wear if tracking is out or worn suspension...size 245-40-18 around £100 a corner for a brand you've heard of ! Warning lights on dash.....Tire pressure warning system.....sensor in wheels playing up or battery flat , engine management dash light......oxygen sensors . Most don't have a space save spare just a compressor and sealer by now probably missing ...check in boot. if you can look after the car yourself to not a major expense but if using a garage could be expensive .....and not all cars will have all the problems above. Just shout if you want more advise :)
  17. I'm back in Lexus ownership after 4 years away , sold my Is300 and had a few other Toyoyta's since then, decided as I can't afford a generation 1 TA22 Celica or 2.8 supra I would go for a later coupe .......here she is ...
