  1. Get yourself a smart charger and trickle charge in the car .
  2. A competent mechanic should take the time to look under the car and find the best position...sound like they couldn’t be bother and will not get your business again !
  3. Wheels off to do a proper job, I used a vacuum bleeder so no need to pump the pedal, you can stand and watch the fluid level drop and top up as needed, after say 30 secs lock up nipple and go onto the next corner of the car. Several vacuum kits in eBay ....just don’t buy cheap 👍🏻
  4. I really wouldn’t bother using it if you have the original disc fitted, as many of the new roads will be missing . Although it’s a rubbish system I fitted the youngest disc I could find on eBay , now have a 2018 disc in a 2006 SC430. There a a few tutorials on YouTube just look for a 2001-2006 Lexus guide to give you some pointers ....last though ...I have a 6" tomtom satnav and set for a long journey last year on the way back home I also ran the Lexus satnav as a comparison, it gave some odd choices of roads and would have sent me in the wrong direction, so don’t worry if you can’t get it to work you are not missing much 👍🏻👍🏻
  5. I have the same cover..make sure you put the supplied straps under the car to pull the cover tight, or you may get marks on the paintwork as it rubs and flaps in the wind .
  6. I used a automotive locksmith to sort me out a key ...most towns have them . First I bought a genuine used Lexus key off eBay, took that to the locksmith, he cut a fresh key using my original as a template, then put the transponder internals from the eBay key into the newly cut key and programmed It and only cost me £80.
  7. Richard did punt them about the Lexus clubs but had little interest, I have the pair he sent to me but will keep them I case I want to use them on my car or a future SC430. As the generation 7 Celica items are the same lens you might get lucky and find a pair of them 👍🏻
  8. Been a mixed bag of repairs on the Lexus World forum , out of a possible 17 members with SC430’s ..7 have had the passenger airbag replace and 4 have had damage ! Ranges from , body damage, trim rips and scratches, problems with heater afterwards . This really is a massive job and it’s pot luck if you get a good dealer or not, myself I had trim damage around the radio and heater panel, yet my dealer says they have done loads of this recalls, I wonder if the mechanics get complacent and rush through the jobs. Book time is 6.5 hrs but my dashcam was only off for 5 hrs before the car moved back out the workshop🙄 ....good luck to anyone having the job done 👍🏻
  9. Do they have the same part number on the side ?
  10. Congratulations on your new motor you’ve made a great choice..you won’t have any regrets....we’ll unless you want to take more than one person out 😉
  11. Mines booked in Monday for two day ..will have a UX loan car .
  12. Received my letter as well..seems it’s a dashboard out to do the passenger airbag 🙄
  13. Great looking car and should be a quality car if sold to you by Rich 👍🏻👍🏻
  14. Go for the facelift if only for the 6 speed auto manual mode gearbox 👍🏻👍🏻
  15. The battery back up batteries in the alarm can corrode and go bad in older Lexus models ☹️
  16. Stunning looking car and one of the best colour and trim combinations...well after blue 😉...enjoy 👍🏻 As to your tyres.. treat the car to a new set Dunlop’s and use the Mobil company Tyres on my drive ..very good price 👍🏻
  17. My last SC430 had discoloured black window moulding and I wiped them with Celulose thinners it took the surface coating off and left them clean ..not of caution DON’T get it on the bodywork 👍🏻
  18. Buy the best you can afford as everything should work if it’s been looked after ....full dealer service history can take the worry out of buying one but getting rare to find on a 10-15 year old car ☹️
  19. Main dealers do try their luck and to a degree get a good result...someone will buy it just because they trust a dealership over an independent or private sale. my car was from a main dealer and was young enough to get a year Lexus warranty and I made good use of it 😉
  20. Well done Graham cracking car ..shame they didn’t do a cream interior 😄😄😄😉
  21. Well above is how bad the Lexus seats can get and here’s is the improvement after added some liquid dye ...this was the results a couple of hours later and 24 hours later .
  22. Out of interest do your seats look as bad as this from my first SC430 ?
  23. Worst car a Rover 216 EFI VP was advised not to buy as an unreliable help of poo but purchased all the same, as a mechanic I was sure I could keep on top of it, fuel injectors would pack up at random and then start working again, would also cut out at junctions but with no mixture or idle adjustment it was the computer with a mind of its own, then the auto gearbox would loose a couple of gears at random......put it up for sale as it was sold within a week . Best car my is my current Lexus SC430....best screwed together car I’ve ever owner 👍🏻👍🏻
  24. Being a Lexus I’m sure it’s very logical in construction....push fit for most trim with 10mm for the radio & sat/nav 👍🏻
