Did someone call my name 😎😎

Couple of thoughts with your motoring problems , the GS300 of a similar age could share the same steering rack, worth looking into for used rack. with brake judder..rule of thumb from my car mechanic days....on braking ...judder through the peddle only rear brakes, judder through the steering front brakes. You could of had a pattern set of front brakes that have gone bad already or as suggested, Caliper slider has semi seized and caused one of the front brakes to over heat and distort.

Congratulations on your purchase Richard, I’ve used Lexus for servicing by have the essential service which is a cheaper for cars over 5 years old . what colour and interior is you car 🤔
-
Yes I’m happy it’s gone to a good home 😎😎
-
plus... Reverse lamps have a different lens, gearbox has manual mode, Revised paint colours and wood dash choices, Radio has soft touch main buttons, Different wing side repeaters, Revised satnav system and don’t share the same update discs with earlier models 👍🏻

Two guys deal with the admin both have busy day jobs ...so hang in there 👍🏻
-
Nice to hear people being so positive about my old car and in my biased opinion 😉 probably the best available 👍🏻 why have I sold ? The corona virus has had a major impact on my family life and as the car was just for shows, meets and the odd sunny day, it was luxury I can’t justify this year . Think my thread on the LW covers the cars history from end to end but if you have any questions..fire away 👍🏻👍🏻

That’s the darker blue..think it’s Westminster blue, this one as a knee air/bag on the passenger side, downside is a smaller glovebox and as you know now £580 road tax . As Nic says don’t need to be over worried about the mileage as cars in the States can do 200k plus without drama, for me 50-60k is a preferable mileage if you could find one. 👍🏻

Here’s the link... https://www.liquidleather.co.uk/ ask for RUTLAND IVORY. ..and my post on the subject 👍🏻 https://forum.lexusownersclub.com/threads/leather-seat-rejuvenation.13611/

Black leather as a general rule it’s almost maintenance free, whereas the ivory leather needs attention to keep it looking beautiful but does make the interior bright and airy. I was the first on the Lexus World forum to buy cream leather dye for my previous SC and it can up very well it was so bad I had nothing to loose, have since purchased a bottle of dye for my current Rutland Ivory interior and it’s looking in tip top condition 😎

It’s also the more serious damaged category 😳 "What is a cat S write-off? (previously known as cat C) The ‘S’ stands for ‘structural’ damage but cars that fall into this category can be repaired. Unlike cat A and B cars, these can be made roadworthy but have to be fixed by a professional and also have to be re-registered with the DVLA."

Well done nicnac that’s saved some heartbreak further down the line 👍🏻👍🏻

Website called "Total car check" once you registered you can look up a few extra car details 👍🏻

Only extra info I can find is it last had an owner change on 6th dec 2018 👍🏻

That’s one of my favourite colours after my blue 😉, the dealers had got very carried away with his/her advert but I guess that’s what their job is to promote the product . As you say good mot history and from the photos looks very clean and tidy , so questions to ask are ...has timing belt been changed , needs to be main dealer service history for that money and have 12 stamps in the book . He has no idea on the colour and trim names are ! Body colour is Mesa red and leather trim is Rutland Ivory 👍🏻 Price wise.. it’s over book price but if it’s a nice original example you have to pay what the seller is asking , as I said rare colours command top dollar . I would ask the same for my car if I was selling but that does have full Lexus history and a stamp for every year of its life . This red one should have come with 3 keys from new , infact needs to be almost perfect for that money, leather Lexus folder with all the books, bills and receipts, tool kit etc . depending how long it’s lived it’s life in Scotland you have to be concerned about corrosion underneath, Scotland as salt on the roads for longer in the winter, so something else to consider 👍🏻
-
Not your favourite colour but is a facelift as the lower road tax, low mileage, headlamps don’t look faded and it has the Beautiful Ivory interior... downside at the end of the country for you 😕 eBay number 313023938493
-
Just looked up the current road SC430 tax prices £330/ £580 !!
-
The first of the facelift model were still the £330 road tax bracket, ( mine in a Jan 2006 ) the government had budget in early 2006 and put big engine cars up, so you could have two facelift models side by side and one day apart and one be £330 and the other £555 😳 The magic date Is 22nd March 2006, on the 23rd they became £550 !
-
...and do an HPI before parting with any money , dealer may already have done one but is £20 well spent for piece of mind.
-
Roy has done the basics available for free on line, good mot history in that no advises or fails over the years, so somebody has looked after it . Unusual colour which is a plus , Ivory interior looks ok for the mileage , headlamp don’t appear faded from the photos . questions to ask is if the timing belt on the engine has been replaced, if no paperwork to say its been done, that is a priority job. should be no lights on the dashboard once started . sat/nav works ...although they were never that good when new ! roof should be smooth in operation . boot carpets have no stains from the photos so that’s a positive. check tyres for condition and see if the disc brakes look corroded. handbrake should hold the car on a hill. play the radio/cd player at fair volume as the front speakers disintegrate with age and sound terrible. Air/con should be very cold if set on 16degs. check every switch and button in the car including the folding mirrors, if the glass is broken they are over £350 each ..just glass ! under the bonnet.... Oil is a nice Golden colour, no stains of coolant loss, pas and brake master cylinder topped up. in boot.... full tool kit under the mat . on road test ....... should be quite and smooth with no knocks from the suspension over rough surfaces, steering shouldn’t pull to the left or to the right when driving or breaking, gearbox kick down should be very good in "power mode" that’s the little switch on the Silver centre consul by the gear knob. Can’t think of much else for now, service history would be nice . let us know how you get on ...price could be cheaper but on the other had is and unusual colour and with a SC history and colour command good money👍🏻👍🏻

Post Lockdown Dealership Servicing/MOT Resumption
Bob King replied to Maxz's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Lexus Sidcup have been quick to phone me up to book my mot but I told them with the governments 6 month mot extension, they won’t see me before October ! I feel sure all dealers are going to be struggling for business 🤔 -
This one has possibilities..... https://www.acesautomall.co.uk/email.php?book_test_drive=2703368 sorry dead link ..look up their Lexus cars . plus side is it’s a 55 reg and will be the cheaper road tax think it’s £320 but sc430’s after March 2006 changed band to £555 ! downside ..colour of the wheels, headlamps are heavily faded and going yellow at the top and the rear exhaust chrome tailpipes have corroded off . The grey was a colour I looked at before buying my blue one and looks nice with the Ivory interior and dark wood. chrome tailpipes are several hundred pound each and to replace the headlamps like I recently did with my car and cost almost £1200.00 ! But could all be bargaining power 👍🏻
-
Hi Lucille, I watch all the SC430’s for sale on Auto Trader some have been up for more than a year ! Sadly not much about if you don’t want silver or black. My favourite colours are blue or red in a facelift model but not seen one for many months. There was a gold one at Lexus Sidcup Kent, a rare colour and does look very striking ....update ..that sold over the last week 🙁

Follow this YouTube guide and the bumper will be off enough to replace the bulbs . I use this guide to replace the headlamps on my facelift model recently 👍🏻 https://youtu.be/A--4SgiPG3Q

It’s very easy to buy copy discs on eBay but they will in time damage the laser head on the satnav unit , first one I got was a copy although the seller said it was genuine ! It’s kept saying disc not loaded, disc dirty ...so got a refund . let me show you genuine and a copy .......
