It’s a double edge sword buying cheap, as the quality of the footage is not much use to insurance or police if needed . Facelift with lower road tax and full service history ….don’t think about it too long 😉

May just need the chrome tailpipes replaced for better/bigger ones. The fact the originals have dropped/rusted off could be a sign of underbody corrosion. The MOT this year had a fair amount of work done, that surprises me if it’s been dealer maintained, so go view with caution 👍🏻👍🏻

I’ve had a quick look around Google and think I found the car you are talking about …blue 2006 ? Has almost full Lexus service history , so should of had belts and w/pump done when needed. Vehicle was registered on 20th March 2006 so is the cheaper £360 road tax, tax rate went up at the end of March . car looks in great condition but do ask for some photos of the underside as that do corrode. Tail pipes are the wrong ones ..look like pea shooters !

Rusted suspension normally responds well to penetrating oil, heat or a big hammer ! As you say not being over experienced, you could cause more harm than good. Have you gone back to the job since using penetrating oil it needs a few days to do its work. Did you spray some on your inner side of the driveshaft by the brake hub ? If you’re feeling out of your depth and not wanting to do any damage,your choice of a local garage makes perfect sense👍🏻

I personally wouldn’t go near a company like that, as you have to give them too much car information ….and I’m sure the programming needs to be done using a sequence I mentioned above ….so car also needed .

Both black keys do the same job, from memory the grey doesn’t open the glove box. My first SC430 (2003 model) only had one key, so following advise from other Lexus forums, I purchased a used 3 button key from eBay, also purchased a new blank key. Took car and keys to automotive locksmith, he cut the key, reprogrammed the guts from the used key, carried out the procedure with a mix of door open then shut, ignition on/off, foot on brake etc….was a 8-10 part process and all done for £75.00…..note that’s 2016 prices 👍🏻 What goes against you now is finding a used key and a auto locksmith that’s familiar with close too 20-year-old technology ☹️

Just an observation but when the SC430 was new it came with 3 keys two black and one grey . Is the only key you have a 3 button black key ?

Only unwanted "extra" on the SC430 is a wind noise at motorway speeds , from the drivers door mirror . No fix for it other that fold them in or turn the radio up 😉😉

Agree with car covers, they keep moisture in and can flap in the wind and damage the paintwork . Tyres…I put Falken FK510 245/40 R18 97Y XL on my last SC430, Reputable brand and a fair price .

My pet hate is how the wording "full service history " is used when it has only a few stamps in the book ! The SC430 model needs a service every year of its life , so example ..if buying an 18 year old car you’d expect 18 stamps . The exception might be a service every second year.. if very low mileage and then only in its later life 👍🏻
