  1. Saw my first LBX on the road today …. whilst in Taipei as part of my holiday 😆. Looked good in White.
  2. Yes ‘Lester’ is tucked up at home with just 50 miles on him as we only picked him up a couple day’s before we left 😆. We were supposed to be going to Hualien, but that has obviously been cancelled due to the terrible earthquake. We are arriving early in Keelung giving us an extra day and overnight, so that means we are able to see the night market which should be great.
  3. Ha ha, I thought I was getting confused 🤔. We are on a cruise taking in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. We are currently making our way to Keelung so I am sat having a coffee on the ship at 11:30 am, hence the time difference 😆
  4. At the time I didn’t realise there was a difference, I naively thought all cars for sale would be presented in their best condition. I have just purchased a new NX as I think the UX is too close to 2nd generation for my liking.
  5. I went to a main Lexus dealer when I was looking to purchase a UX and I was amazed at the condition of the car. All four wheels heavily kerbed, scuffs on the black wheel arch trim, dings in the bumper. The salesman was very upfront about the damage and said it was their policy to not prepare cars until they are sold, just wash and hoover which seemed madness to me. However, I did take it for a test drive and the smell inside was unbearable, it smelt like a horsebox, the previous owner must have carried saddles and tack in it which totally explained its condition. it was so bad I turned around after five minutes. Needless to say I didn’t buy it 😑
  6. I do remember there was a time when I was first looking at the NX around the time they made some changes to specifications and the website had quite a few specification anomalies which wasn’t very helpful.
  7. Is there not a 12v socket in the back seat area or boot? If so you could plug a USB adapter with a couple of outlets into one of those like the item below? USB Adapter Plug
  8. After sitting very comfortably long and low in the Prius for many years I was concerned about seat comfort, especially as I suffer with sciatica. I am pleased to say the seats in the NX are supremely comfortable for me and having the electric adjustment means I can fine tune them perfectly. Why would you send a car back if you thought it was not good value, surely you would work out that kind of thing before you purchased a car, confused? 🤔
  9. My goodness, nearly £49,000 for a Takumi🤔 I think the UX is now an awful lot of money for not much car, lovely though it is. That is what I was always struggling with wanting to change from my Prius to a UX. I would be spending a lot of money to buy a car that was smaller and less practical than I already had. In the end I have just bought a new NX which seemed much better value and feel I have got a lot of car for the money. Still going to be interested to see what the Gen 2 UX will be like whenever it arrives.
  10. I think that is the best bit of advice to anyone, especially if they are new to Hybrids although the OP is already in the ‘family’ 🙂
  11. When I had my Prius my commute was only a total of 6 urban miles a day and I never had any issues with the 12v battery. I too had keyless entry and I just used the car as I wanted to without any thought about things draining the battery. I sold the car a couple of weeks ago and it still had the original battery from new at seven years old The only time I would take precautions was going on holiday and then would connect my smart charger and have it come on twice a week for 8 hours at a time which worked perfectly for me. it seems odd that some people have issues and others do not 🤔
  12. I am currently in Japan where Toyota is King and none of their cars have the pedestrian warning sound. They have some amazing London taxi lookalike Toyotas and great mini vans too 😀 It’s weird now that new electric and hybrid cars are louder than modern petrols at low speed which are virtually silent yet need no artificial warning sound 🤔
  13. I got the front dashcam fitted as part of my deal. They also mentioned about possible DAB interference, so I didn’t want to risk it even though I never listen to DAB 😆 Also I wanted as little trim disturbed as possible and after seeing @Andy B photos of the rear camera I think it would annoy me as it looks quite distracting. Would it be possible to add the rear one if I wanted to later down the line or does the front camera have different sockets on the dual camera setup?
  14. Saw loads of the IS in the US last year, they really look great
  15. I am not wanting to replace the battery as I have only just taken delivery of the NX this week, therefore the battery is brand new. I was just curious as to the type of battery it is, but you have answered my question 🙂 I am so used to putting my Prius battery on my smart charger when I go on holiday, so I wanted to do the same as I know how quickly the 12v can discharge if its not used for a couple of weeks or more. I expect the NX is more likely to drop charge due to it being 'connected' which my Prius wasn't. Thanks
  16. It seems that a lot of the issues with the app is to not have a too complicated password. I am a stickler for long complex passwords, but it seems the Lexus app is fine with length, but not too many symbols. The consensus seems to be just have @ as the symbol and then just a combination of letters, numbers and upper case. I read about this over on the NX forum before I took Delivery this week, so I anticipated this quirk and created a nice long password with lots of variation, but just the @ symbol. So far everything is working well. It took just over two days for everything to come online.
  17. Does the NX have an AGM 12v battery or a standard flooded type? Had a quick look and I think it's the same battery that was in my Gen 4 Prius - flooded type, but that was located under the bonnet. With the NX's being located in the boot I thought it would have to be an AGM. I know the Gen 3 Prius was AGM as that was boot mounted as they classed it as being in the passenger compartment. I will be connecting my smart charger to the car whilst I am away which does auto-detect battery type, but I just wanted to double check. Thanks
  18. Success! Sat in the car this morning and was greeted by a nice blue sat nav screen and a Qi code to scan. Deleted the car in the app I had set up via registration number yesterday and scanned the barcode. I had to go through some of my personalisation settings again, linked the key to my profile and now everything seems to be OK. Nothing in the hybrid coaching section yet, but hopefully that will populate once I drive the car.
  19. Quick update. Just checked the app and it now shows the vehicle status - doors locked etc. but no hybrid coaching yet…..
  20. I picked up my new NX yesterday and I have the exact same issue and behaviour in the App, unknown status, no trips etc. When I picked the car up, they could not get the car to link up when they went through the handover, but said this happens sometimes and should be ok in a day or two. Today I managed to link up to the Lexus servers via the Lexus Link + app, so I thought all was OK, but if I got to the head unit and click on Lexus it says an error has occurred, try again later. Is this likely to come online in the next day or so, or do I need to uninstall and start again? Thanks
  21. I noticed this the other day too when following an NX. It was normal daylight and I was surprised when I saw the taillights come on with the brake lights. I thought maybe this had been ‘tweaked’ somehow, but maybe that is how it works…. 🤔 Pick mine up next week, so will find out for sure then 😃
  22. The only time I ever use the EV button in the 7 years I have had my current car is when I want to take the car out of the garage to wash it and I do not want to invoke the warm up process. As others have said, just let the car decide what is best. It will usually run with the engine off at low speeds most of the time on its own, subject to the variables listed above. Counting down the days now until I pick up my NX. Wonder how long it will take for me to get used to not getting 70-80 MPG 🤣
  23. Thank you, that's encouraging to hear. I guess I am a bit wary of causing damage to the 12v battery if it was to go flat, not sure how much damage it causes if it was to only happen once. I have been used to doing it on my Prius due to it being the original battery and not wanting to have to fork out for a new one before I changed the car 😬 The charger I have is a smart one so is designed to be left on for long periods of time, but I am a bit of a worrier about leaving things on that are not normally, especially this time with the car being brand new. Thanks to everyone else to their tips and advice, it's very much appreciated 😀
  24. Thanks Colin, that’s good to know. The car will be garaged, so I will connect it to the points under the bonnet. If the negative lead doesn’t reach the place stated in the manual is there an alternative place you would recommend?
  25. Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would tag onto this one. I am hopefully picking up my new NX350h AWD next week, but I am going on holiday a few weeks after for nearly four weeks. I am familiar with using a smart charger as I use one on my Prius when I go away and have it linked to a smart plug so it comes on twice a week for 8 hours per day. My question is, on my Prius it was easy as the battery is under the bonnet, but the NX is in the boot. Do I have to connect the charger to the terminals in the boot or can I use the jump points under the bonnet? Or will I be OK as it will be a new battery rather than my original 7 year old battery I currently have? Thanks.
