Adding puddle lights to NX350h / NX450h
stepppy replied to rado16v's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I have these and they are excellent. They have the smaller connectors that are fitted to the Gen 2 NX. https://www.addcarlights.com/product/lexus-logo-door-lights-car-ghost/ There is currently a 20% discount code for new customers. -
Battery Maintainer / Trickle Charger
stepppy replied to Harrier Man's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Pretty much my usage as well and I have not had any issues yet. Had a Prius before for seven years and that was on the original battery when I sold it and it was still going strong. I just connect my charger/maintainer and let it do its thing. The display shows red at the beginning, analyses the battery, charges it (displays goes green) then just maintains its charge. I generally only use it when we go away on holiday. Mine does not have a boost function. -
Battery Maintainer / Trickle Charger
stepppy replied to Harrier Man's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I use the jump point under the bonnet under the black cover then a nearby bolt head that I know has a good solid ground. I used a meter directly on the battery terminals and the measurement was the same as using the jump points. The battery is under a pop off cover on the left hand side under the boot floor (2024 model) -
Battery Maintainer / Trickle Charger

Very good point to check. The current NX uses a normal flooded wet battery. When I connect my charger it flashes up the different types in a self test then settles on 12v Std. -
Battery Maintainer / Trickle Charger

I purchased the below smart charger from Amazon during the first lockdown for my Prius and it worked perfectly and at a very good price too. It analyses the battery type and charges the battery and then maintains it at the correct level. Smart Charger I use it on my NX now when I go away on holiday. Although they are designed to be left running continuously, I have mine hooked up to a smart plug and have it come on for 8 hours a day twice a week. It comes with the usual crocodile clips, but also another lead that enables permanent connection to the battery with a plug on the other end for easy connection to the charger. -
DASH CAM FEED IN NX 350H
stepppy replied to old man 2's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Yes, correct, power is shutoff as soon as the car powers down and therefore does not draw any power from the 12v battery. Interesting that power from parking mode comes from the internal battery, but I wasn't sure if this is kept then topped up from the 12v when in parking mode and could in theory flatten the 12v battery, but hopefully the voltage safe guard it has should prevent that happening?, but I have just been a bit nervous to try it.... but maybe now I will. I hoped that the camera would record anytime someone crossed in the cameras field of view, but I think it will only record if it detects a bump... am I correct in that thinking? I am going to get one of those battery monitors when I get back from my holiday as I will be interested to see how the 12v battery performs as I am a very low mileage user. I sold my 7 years old Prius when I bought my NX and it only had 21,000 from new, but it still had the original 12v battery and it was still going strong 😀. -
DASH CAM FEED IN NX 350H
stepppy replied to old man 2's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Agreed with the above. I have always had dash cams in my cars for years which I have always self installed, however when I bought my NX I didn’t want to be pulling trim apart myself on a 50K car, so my dealer was more than happy to include the Nextbase dash cam as part of my deal. Although the camera also included the backup battery to be able to use parking mode, I have not turned that function on as I do not want to risk the main 12v battery going flat. I know the camera has a low voltage detection to prevent that from happening, but I’m just a bit too wary of it as I have not seen any comments from people who use the parking function. -

Amazingly having too many special characters in your password can cause problems. I had the same issue with my NX and on advice from another forum member (advice from their dealer), I changed my password to only contain the @ symbol (still long and complicated) and all my problems went away. Worth a try.

Driving position
stepppy replied to ikarian999's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
If the LBX has buttons on the door like other Lexus models, then they are independent of the key and are programmed by setting your position, pressing and holding the relevant button to memorise the settings (until it beeps). Do that for each driver, then just press the button (briefly) when you get inside the car. I only use one key for myself and my partner as I like to have all the driving information under one profile. Not sure if two keys can contain all information in one place, but I have been happy with what I have set up. -
Configure a USB C to play in LBX
stepppy replied to Jaytgee's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
This seems to be a common question asked about USB formats etc. but I am always puzzled why people still want to use USB now? When I had my Prius I didn't have a choice, but now with my NX having Apple CarPlay/Android Auto it is so much easier to use that instead. I have created a 'Car' playlist on my Mac where I have added several albums and every time I put my iPhone on its charger it syncs and adds any changes I made to my phone and they are ready to be used when I next get in my car. Am I missing something as to why people still like to use a USB stick? -
Configure a USB C to play in LBX
stepppy replied to Jaytgee's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
Does the LBX have a USB-C next to a normal USB? That is what my NX has, but you can only use the normal USB for media files. The USB-C is for charging only. -
The Lexus/Toyota Hybrid's do not have a gearbox in the traditional sense with actual gears. They have an e-CVT which uses among other things a planetary gearset to give an infinitely variable ratio of 'gears' and therefore does not have any traditional gears to kick down. Some models have an S mode which can give the impression of changing gears using either the shifter or steering wheel paddles, but it is just software trickery and pretty much a waste of time in my opinion. Your Technician was probably correct in saying the later models have a different engine management system. If it was a later 2023 model i.e. 300h, then it would have the 5th generation hybrid drive system which has more power as well as the electronic shifter and you would definitely notice that difference. I hope this helps.

Suitable trickle charger
stepppy replied to LBX2024's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
It was someone on the Prius forum years ago, so I was just going by that. Others above have advised of not over charging which is what I was getting at …. I agree a smart charger/maintainer can be left on 24/7 as I said which is what I do when I go away on holiday. I did also say in my post that “someone with more knowledge will be able to fill in the gaps” -
reverse sound
stepppy replied to ikarian999's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
No, this is a mandated pedestrian safety feature. "All new electric cars, hybrids and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) must now be fitted with an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), which will activate at 12mph and below, emitting warning sounds to alert pedestrians and other road users of the vehicles' presence." Some cars used to let the driver switch off the warning sound (I had a Renault Zoe and it had a switch), but now they cannot be disabled. Unless you want to invalidate your insurance and possible have someone with hearing loss walk out in front of you I would just get used to it. My Prius, before my NX did not have any warning sound and I thought the noise from the NX warning sound would annoy me, but I quite like it now. Luckily the NX has a speaker in the front and the back, so when reversing, the sound only comes from the rear speaker and is the same volume and from the front speaker when going forwards. I believe some Lexus models now only use one speaker at the front and ramp up the volume when reversing which I have heard and can be pretty loud. -
Suitable trickle charger
stepppy replied to LBX2024's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
I bought a smart charger as below in the pandemic for my at the time Prius and I now use it on my NX when I go away on holiday. It is a smart charger which charges, but then will maintain the battery rather than giving it a constant trickle charge which I understand is not a good thing to do. I am sure someone with more knowledge will be able to fill in the gaps. https://amzn.eu/d/19TbiYR The one you show does more things and I am not sure of its cost , but the one above is a bargain at £25 -

For what reason are you wanting to use the EV button? Don’t forget the NX is a hybrid and not a full EV, therefore it is not set up for extended electric driving. The only time I use the EV button is to take the car out of the garage to wash it without starting the ICE. the rest of the time the car decides when it need to drive on electric 🙂 -
Customer Satisfaction Campaign Recall

Just checked mine and I thought I had never seen the Lexus items whilst in CarPlay, but I don’t have a collapse button? Happy with my set up, so I’m not going fiddling 🫣 -

Ahhh, I completely missed that in the screenshots - missing Lexus icons. I must check mine and see what it is like, but I don’t remember seeing them before …. -

Mine is May 24 (2024 Model) and my dealer checked and said it was not eligible. There does seem to be a lot of inconsistency on which cars they will it will not fit the tracker too. -

I think the CarPlay update you are seeing is due to iOS 18 rather than Lexus updating it. Mine changed to the later design when I updated my iPhone to iOS 18. Interesting you have had a tracker fitted as I understood the 350h was not applicable to the update, unless it is where yours is an early 2022 model? -
ACP - Apple Car Play I would say, although not sure why it would surprise many on the motorway? 🤔
