  1. Thanks for info Rick, car seems fine this morning! guess computer thingy had to sort itself out.
  2. Fitted the Denso sensor yesterday, old one came out really easy. Fitted new one and left battery disconnected for a couple of hours. Engine light has now gone out and car runs fine but have noticed that auto choke does not appear to come on when engine started from cold, Do you think that it might need battery to be left disconnected for a longer period to reset cpu? can't think what else to do as didn't disturb anything else, just unplugged old sensor and plugged in new one!
  3. Cheers guys, at least that one is easy to get to, just hope it's not welded itself in. Just checked on Euro Car Parts and they have two, not sure which is correct one, any ideas? HAAS sensor (exhaust manifold) £38.99 DENSO sensor (cylinders 1-3 front) £73.99
  4. Is this 02 sensor the one closest to front of engine? (on the manifold)
  5. So I went to Wheels in motion Friday and had geo done and wheels properly balanced...absolutely spot on, car has never driven this well. Really nice guys who take a pride in their work, not often seen these days.
  6. Cheers guys, will get it sorted.
  7. Thanks Andy, much appreciated mate. Did speak with Wheels In Motion yesterday, and was quoted £95 to do this...did sound a tad expensive considering it's a bit of a trek to get there in the first place. Having said that, their website is most impressive with all the up to date gear etc. Still considering going there to have them do this and to remove/refit/balance the new tyres that the local muppet didn't do right! I mean it's not difficult to put the white dot on the new tyre exactly where the valve is!!! He got them all out by 4 to 5 inches and marked one of the newly refurbed rims as well, what a total ******. Also have a very slight shimy on steering wheel at about 60mph, which is probably due to the fact that his balancing machine was out of the bloody Ark! Can anyone vouch for these guys?
  8. Well, got my wheels back after being fully refurbed. If there is no sun on them, they look pretty normal...but when sun hits them they go mad! The silver metal flake really sparkles and you can see different colours of glitter all over. Was good to find someone who was prepared to listen to what the customer wanted and do a really good job, will always use this fella from now on. I was prepared to pay over the top for this work but he only charged £45 per wheel (18 inch) and £5 per centre cap so £200 total. Wheels were shot blasted, refurbed and powder coated etc, but he doesn't fit tyres or balance which was no problem as had new Goodyears to go on anyway. Only problem is that they look so damn good I don't want to drive it down to London, have left it on drive and used a different car today...how sad is that!
  9. Many thanks for that, probably a good idea as the old tyres wore through to the white ribbing on the insides! Would anyone have the required settings as can't find on Googe
  10. Apparently they can even be welded if they crack..
  11. Well that is it Ken! If this doesn't cure it then I have no idea. Reckon that you will know in about 500 miles mate.
  12. Yeah, the garage MUST be feckin up somehow putting them in, maybe not correct torque?? dunno, I just gave up in the end! I know that some people on here don't like them, but I use Greenstuff pads all round, expensive but there is a noticeable difference when braking hard. My is300 is Platinum with the original full Areo body kit and 18inch wheels. Had the wheels powder coated a couple of years ago but have had them straightend so many times that need doing again. Been to a few known places that refurb alloys but not happy with the colours they have ie, really sparkling silver. Found a guy in Kent who is going to do a "special" paint/laquer job for me, either sparkle silver with silver metal flake in it, or his "disco" effect, which is sparkle silver with different coloured sparkles in it! Gonna meet him again tomorrow to see the samples and hopefully choose one...
  13. Never had the tracking done on my car as it drives straight without any issues, but have changed both front hub/arms complete (used from ebay) and have new tyres ready to be fitted as soon as wheels have been refurbished, is it worth having tracking (4 wheel alignment) done?
  14. These wheels are pretty darn rare as was only available as an option and most are now bent beyond repair. I managed to buy two recently for £85 each but would have paid more if needed!
  15. Hi Ken, have never had my car tracked at all, maybe it's about time I did as have just had the drivers side hub assembly replaced with a second hand one as the wheel bearing had gone again (only 6 months after garage replaced it for the 3rd bloody time!) so a used hub with original bearing seemed the way to go as garage clearly feckin up somewhere. Also just bought new Goodyear Eagle 3 tyres to go on as soon as I get a chance to have the wheels refurbed again (hopefully this week) just cant decide to get done in sparkle silver again or go for black with some sort of colour in it...what you reckon? (18inch Areo)
  16. Ken, if like me, you have changed and checked everything else and still no joy then it's got to be worth a go. Buy the complete unit from Ebay (prices vary) which includes bearing and hub, Okay, you are taking a chance that the bearing is not knackered but still worth the gamble.
  17. Yes Ken, infact I changed everything shown in the diagram in one go, bought as a complete second hand unit from Ebay for about £35. Before this I wasted loads of time and money changing Hub and wheel bearing separately (not to mention loads of other bits) which were not the route of the problem. When I bought the car, the spare wheel was totally buckled so in hind sight this was a clue! Reckon that car must have gone down big pot hole that had damaged/bent the actual steering knuckle itself in some way. Since changing the complete unit I have had no problems with braking/wobble at all, that must be well over 10k by now. I obviously cannot state that replacing this is going to be the cure for everyone else but it worked 100% for me. I
  18. Most interesting, just had 02 sensor B1/S2 changed on mine as EML light came on but still not happy with way that engine seems to "back off" when foot off accelerator...
  19. If you had 02 sensor flagged, why are you looking at coils rather than the 02 sensor??
  20. So you have fitted new hubs, I assume that this was just the hub and not the complete arm (steering knuckle)?
  21. Yeah, not cheap though!
  22. The one before the cat makes sense as it detects air/fuel mixture coming out of the engine, but whats the point of the one after the cat? I can only assume that it monitors the cat itself...
  23. Hi guys, engine warning light came on the other day but then went out. Local garage plugged in tester which showed "Lambda Sensor". Has anyone changed this before and is there only one? Where abouts is it located on a is300?
  24. What sort of shaking are you getting and when? Could be bent/damaged front rims or tyres, try swapping with rears. Does engine tick over smoothly?
  25. No, didn't change filter, drained and refilled 3 times with 5 litres of new ATF. Have not noticed any difference in the way gearbox performs though..
