  1. I will have the ECU read for any error codes before i start throwing money at it but most things to start with is make sure battery is in good condition and charge rate is good, also have alternator tested to make sure its holding charge and take things from there!!
  2. it might depend on where you park! if you park on a slightyly uphill then chances are it will not edge forward when you first stick it in D but that momentume will be used to hold the car sliding backwards hence it doesnt move forwards. test this by driving to a flat surface road or a downhill road stick it in P or N start and stick it in D the minute its in D quickly take your foot off the brake pedal and see if it edges forward! so long as transmission is shifting ok and smoothly i wouldnt worry too much bout it. Also when was the last time it had a fluid drain and refill? had mine done in Feb buy Albin B Motors (Lexus/Toyota) specialist in London using the recommended Toyota Type -IV oil and seems to be shifting more smoothly but this was because my car had done over 100,000 miles so thought it was due a drain and refill although Lexus said it was a Lifetime oil didnt believe it. worth having this done but make sure no other oil is used but Toyota Type T-IV as anything else will cook the Transmission. cost me £206 all in for transmission oil , differential oil and brake fluids change from Albin B motors if that helps...
  3. if i really liked the wheels of another car manufacturer at least i will buy thier cars to match aswell but i think it looks weird!! but hey thats my two cents... at the end of the day its a free world! go for it mate!!
  4. what was Lexus's reason for not bringing the 350 to UK? it doesnt make sense if they thought it wouldnt sell because they had the IS-F and GS430 here both of which are bigger engines than the 350 cus that would have been my next car after IS300 gets tired...
  5. silly question but why in the world would you want to put a Mercedes alloys on a Lexus??. Other drivers will think mmmh couldnt afford a Mercedes so got a Lexus and thought the alloys will bring him closer to a Mercedes!! Its like removing the Lexus badges on your car and replacing them with Merc badges ... simple if you want to look good on the road just get IS-F alloys or go aftermarket if you dont want Merc drivers laughing at you mate or just get you a C class Merc at least you will have the car and badge to match the alloys!!
  6. If that will make you happy I’ll say go for it mate, all I was pointing out was you will not gain 20-50 bhp by having a decat maybe 5-10 bhp could be achieved. But for more power a turbo or bigger cubic capacity will be a way forward.
  7. not having enough luck are we? check yellow pages for coventry or DVLA website for your councils MOT garage as i beleive they only do MOT's and no repairs aswell. they normally MOT local councils buses and stuff.
  8. as steve2006 pointed this will be quite a hassle every year jut to pass MOT then decat again then fit a cat again when it's due! IS300's are going for reasonable prices both on ebay and autorader! 210bhp with with almost 300NM of torque which comes to the back wheels early in rpm aswell...
  9. Hi bigsteve dont mean to bash IS200 but all IS's do come with a good tuned exhast system and by fitting a new exhaust and decating will not free a lot if any more horses out of the 200 as enough has already been squeezed out of it from factory. best solution for power increase is to either go forced air induction i.e Turbo or Supercharge the engine or the easy and simplest option is get you an IS300 and forget what people say about it being automatic they are a BLAST to drive . use to modify my previuse cars in the past but always wanted more after every bit added to it b but realised either going forced air or getting a bigger capacity solved this and as they always say "its easier to make more power from a bigger lump than a smaller one"
  10. thought i'll post the MOT only garage. they based in Hemelheapsted so commutable if you live around 10-20 mile radius. at least the extra £20 i pay in fuel making the trip will save me £££'s for having unnesscary work done by another garage.. http://www.apsley-mots.co.uk/
  11. well id its driving ok and not showing any lights on the dashboard then am guessing you can live with it but if not have the ECU read for any error codes chances are, it mite pick something but again 'if it aint broke dont fix it'...
  12. tell me bout it steve! thats why i tend to use MOT only garages now. these are garages that do MOT's only and no repairs so they will not look for unnessesary faults just to make £500 out of a £45 MOT test. but i dont think there are a lot of them across UK but lucky i have one near where i live!!
  13. no probs this is off topic but i wanted my brake pads front and rear fitted and lexus Milton keynes quoted me £230 from thier fixed price promise deal and quess how much a local garage quoted for the same job? £350 and this was not even using genuine Lexus parts..so sometimes its best to try lexus dealers first you will be surprised some of the quotes are reasonble will come with 12months warrantly and will be a genuine part aswell. hope it gets sorted..
  14. yeh they are quite expensive but not for everything infact something a cheaper than what some other garages quote. you dont have to have the work done by them when they tell you what the issue is you can ask for a quote and tell them you will think about it and let them know pick your car and head to another garage you trust for the repairs to be done.
  15. you can always book it into lexus at your local area explaining the exact issue the will carry out diagnosis with thier high tech gadgets tell you if its brake master cylinder or something else then take your car to a cheaper reputable garage to have it fixed.
  16. have it WIM'ed mate just had mine done today and no steering wobble or puling to one side on my way back home. cost £129 for geometry set and wheel balance and they will talk you through the issues and solution aswell. http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/tyres-wheels-lexus.php
  17. if the car breaks OK but just spongy I will try another garage for the MOT as i think that garage is being a bit picky! ounce it passes the MOT you can start looking into having the brakes properly looked into as I beleive ABS issues normally throw ABS light on the dash board and if this is not happening then mite not be ABS but something else.
  18. http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=162349&l=nl http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=160138 Valkirk has even confirmed its more quicker from 0-62 thats even more excuse to go IS-F and at almost 25mpg thats icing on the cake as my IS300 gives 26mpg on the same combined cycle.
  19. Hi GWilso I wouldnt think the mpg guage moving up and down is to do with the cambelt change as mine does it aswell when say am cruising at 60mph and its sitting on 40mpg the moment i take my foot of the gas peddle it will move to 80mpg, i put my foot back on the gas peddle and it adjusts its to the avreage mpg based on how hard am accelerating. so the mpg guage always moves about and doesnt really stay in a constant position. regarding tax yes I think any one with certificate of insurane, V5 and MOT can buy road tax so long as those three docs match with regards to vehicle reg number and chassis number on V5 and MOT doc.
  20. just give lexus a ring and they will give you the part numbers..
  21. no probs worth e-mailing or give them a ring they mite be able to get hold of one for you..
  22. There is a much simpler solution for all of this... - No problems with fidgety ride, - No need for a sport button - just press the accelerator and the torque will do the rest - No need for flaps or manual gear changes (although it has the flaps, again: TORQUE !) - Who needa a radio when the engine makes this sound? Conclusion, here is the best IS-F: C63 AMG IS-F 1730kg 1700kg 451 bhp 417bhp 600 nm torque 505nm torque 0-62 = 4.7secs 0-62 = 5.2 Drag coeffient 0.32 Drag coeffient 0.27 Power to weight: 260bhp per ton Power to weight: 245bhp per ton Torque per ton: 346 nm per ton Torque per ton: 297 nm per ton Price tag £62000 price tag £40000 Conclusion: Although C63 AMG has the advantage of 15bhp power to weight and 50nm of torque more per ton than ISF guess who will win a drag race? ISF cus its 0.27 drag coeffient will make it more fluid and stable than 0.32 of C63 AMG and come 155mph driver of ISF will be waving past C63 all the way to 170mph. Further Conclusion: So are you saying I have to pay £22000 more to go 5tenths quicker from 0-62, because of 15bhp power to weight and 50nm of torque more per ton advantage? Cus that’s where the extra power and torque of C63 goes. But past 62mph drag coefficient and gearing is most important. I will have the IS-F and save £2200 in my bank. :D
  23. havent used them yet but Japarts.co.uk seem to stock them or might be able to order them for you. http://www.japarts.co.uk/shop/index.php?sh=search&make=39&model=GS%201993-05∩=&prevo=&hidden_make=&vehicle_iid=438&s=0
