  1. Hi Terry major things which was missed above was fluids and belts. Engine coolant, most important to have changed on a highish mileage car is Automatic transmission fluid and differential. Cambelt on GS430's i beleive last 100,000 miles so check the history if this wasnt done at 100,000 mile service, means it will need doing with the idler and tensionor aswell. and why not have the drive belt done aswell whilst thier there. If water pump condition looks good during cambelt change then that could be changed at a later time but if you can have that changed as part of belt change then do it for peace of mind. also if you can run the car on high octane fuel for about a month (Shell Optimax 99, Esso 97, BP Ulitmate 97) as these contain cleaning agents which cleans your injectors, fuel system, valves, and the engine as a whole this will def make it perform better than the volvo T5. dont forget GS's are refined cars so you wont feel the speed but you will be going very very fast!!
  2. Hi Damo n nice ride !! were there any Nissan GTR's and 2008 RS6's there and how did the ISF fare against them performance wise round the track??
  3. No problem North I have the saloon the mirror, case and everything is the same as IS200 only the white female connector which links to the male on the door was bigger for IS200's . 300's seems slightly smaller but all sorted now so am happy thanks all.
  4. update: all sorted guys cost me £40 which is 100 times cheaper if i went for a new one from Lexus dealer tho IS200 will not fit a 300 because the connectors from the mirror on the 200 is larger than the ones on 300 luckly he had a spare green wing from a 300 so we swaped the back casing from green to mine(silver) and within 15 mins i was on the road. he only breaks lexus IS's and had about 6 of the cars being broken so if you need any thing he mite be able to sort you out and knows his way round the IS aswell. not sure if am allowed to post his number on here?? hes happy for me to pass it on....
  5. count me in aswell wont be in uk from 26th tho so if ist before then i mite make it 4.Noby76
  6. am having the wing of that Altezza tomorrow :D yep thats the guy from birmingham!!
  7. no mate! my previous car was a V6 ford cougar another Range Rover sport killer on the M1 but wont bore you guys with it either !!
  8. Thanks Maneesh, i managed to arrange with a breaker based in Birmingham for saturday and he recons IS200 will fit perfectly but i will loose the auto dimming feature as IS200's didnt have this so will be going to see him tomorrow and hopefully will have a new wing. i talked him down to £25 which he might fit for free!! he only breaks Lexus's so will see if he has good stock and update you guys on what he has available if you ever need spare parts.
  9. no mate!! am far from a mechanic...am into cars so just know a little bit about them...
  10. tell me bout it mate 100mph feels like 50mph with no stress to the engine!! and yes with a turbo feeding the 2JZ with more air that M5 driver in my other thread would have been sucked and blown out from my exhausts
  11. H.K.S is your best bet when it comes to tuning Japanese cars but check out the price. http://www.hopupracing.com/pecatbaexsyl.html
  12. not quiet start with just having the ball joints oiled with some WD-40 and see if it clears!! changes are the garage might do it for free or maybe in the region of £25 !! best to use an independant toyota/lexus garage near you as they will know where to look/oil.
  13. just noticed i have the same 300 as you silver Aero 18'' with sport (yellow) fogs :winky:
  14. Hi Luki, when was the last time you had all four tyres balanced and wheel alignment done?? would also help to check your psi on tyres to make sure none of your tyres are under inflated. i think it shoujld be between 33 - 35 psi... might be worth having all four tyres balanced and wheel aligned and see if it makes any difference!!
  15. for definate IS300 will loose at some point more over to be honest to IS300 it was designed to challenge BMW 330i Audi A4 3.0 quattro and C Class 320 so it has no business to race an M5. It was definately a big fish which i will leave for a Supra Turbo, ISF and LFA to fry for breakfast all i wanted to bring to attention was the fact that the IS300 on its release and other reviews i read was painted as a slow automatic car which its definately not but definately not a super car territory without boost(Turbo) on its sides...
  16. You are a star North i owe you a beer thats if we all decide to meet oneday !! will pick one up from ebay as I have seen a few IS's being broken for parts/spares.. I dont really need the auto dim feature so long as the electrics will still work am cool with it!! mirror glass did suvive the abuse tho!! Thanks
  17. Thats right...I think the engine was designed with mid range in mind rather than 0 - 60 speed lexus says 8.2 secs but i have seen people recording 6.8secs . watch any races between a 2JZ powered car be it Supra, GS300 or IS300 and you will notice they are lazy starters but ounce they hit mid range they can hold that tourque all the way. you see it more in the Supra's 2JZ-GTE because they have boost aswell.. its all down to valve timing, transmission gearing, ignition timing, ECU spec and other factors!! secret lies in an engines ability to hold torque without droping from very low to high rpm and if an engine is designed or can do this, it can comfortably rub shoulders with bigger capacities!! off topic: but anyone ever wondered why Honda S2000 and the Type R record 6 sec to 60mph and can do 150mph from a 2 litre? its all down to the engines ability to make small torque but hold it even in high revs without dropping with aid of thier VTEC cam switching capability and transmission gearing...
  18. Cheers guys..hopefully can source one soon. will any of you know if i can fit IS200' wing on the 300? am guessinig it should be a straight swap but i know 300's have chromic (auto dimming) feature where as is200's dont so not sure if it will be compatible..
  19. At last someone who understands characteristics of an engine has backed me up on this people alwyas think 0 - 60 mph and bigger bhp is all that is important. yes they are important to some extent but not always. the VVTi on Lexus's is always on (continues) i.e. the engine is always on 'cam' which can allow it to make around 80% of the engines torque at a low 1500rpm and can hold it all the way to 6000rpm before it drops due to flat tourque curve so although 0 - 60 or top speed is not IS300's great strength, it can hold it with BIG engined cars that should have slaughtered it on mid range cus tourque come in early and it holds without dropping..thanks North
  20. dont hate mikey :-) ....looks the part after having it machine polished from head to toe and had aero alloys refurshised! only hassle now is finding a spare part from the breakers..Lexus quoted me £437 just for the part I had to do a U turn...
  21. Hi Pete does it smell like rubber burning or metal (brake) smell? would be best to check if its coming from the front section or back section of the car as I read sticky calipers could cause burning smell although i havent experienced it. if its coming from the rear is it always when you engage reverse? if so maybe have your differencial checked looks like a strange issue. if this only happens after spirited (agressive) driving and braking then it might just be heat generated from excessive braking...
  22. if it only happens when turning left might be worn bushes or ball joints starting to play up worth having those two checked first and take things from there. mine made a sqeaky sound after i had it WIM'ed took it back and after sparying some WD-40 on the joints cured it... hope this helps
  23. I shouldnt have had it professinally valeted on saturday it made it look like a 61 plate car hence the attention.
  24. Cheers Pete Tell me bout it mate looks like thier design hasnt aged in 12years so attracts unwanted attention...at least i was lucky it wasnt keyed as well... might have to find an alternative parking spot .
