  1. is200 also has the amber effect on the side of the head lights but 300 head lights dont have it. would be nice if they did though....yellow fogs gives it mean sport look at night looks nice..
  2. special thing about Lexus parts is the engineering. i.e. they hardly break and some can last for over 15 years. e.g. my exhaust is 10 years old and still works and sounds fine car passed MOT last month with no advisories, car was still running its original Toyota battery and was working ok only changed it to another Toyota battery last week due to age. but that cant be said for say a 10 year old Alfa Romeo or vauxhall as those would need a new exhuast, alternator, battery, suspension parts etc at least after thier 5th year. So lexus parts in fact Japanese car parts in general are not cheap to buy but will last longer. looks like wheels are not Lexus's strenghts but have you considered having your existing ones refurbed rather than paying for new ones from dealer? having them refurbished will cost way less than 2400 euro and will look new. there are some car parts you just dont bother buying from dealers no matter what car it is and wheels is one of them.
  3. this looks good for a late model LS400(bulletproof) version of the 400's. you can haggle to £1500 -£1800. worth the travel from cheshire. low mileage ,long MOT and Tax service history etc.. http://www.autotrade...age/1?logcode=p
  4. really does make a difference as i tend to fill up weekly rather than monthly with the ocassional fill ups if I'm going away for the weekend. as they say there is no point carrying excess weight (fuel) around if you dont really need to. 20+kg extra in fuel really slows one down and the car will feel slugish and heavy which would result in more effort from the engine to move the car from traffic stops etc ending up in more consumption. snow button dulls the trottle response making the device which transmits power to the rear wheels (differencial) slightly sluggish which gives the slowness sensation when driving.
  5. 0:17 to 2:44 was Mclaren F1 ... 2:45 to 3:30 was pure Lexus. whos says you cant have an F1 car and LS600 quietness in one car huh :D .
  6. the 450h is quicker by a couple of tenths of a second but give me the sound of that V8 plus bags of mid range torque over 450NM.. thing with the h models are the cost of batteries once they need replacing can cost an ARM and LEG but 460 is naturally aspirated engine muscle car !!
  7. saw that GS460 weeks ago now that car is about as close as one can get to an ISF performance wise mpg is no different from my current IS3. GS460 is a BEAST and very rare alot of car and go for less that 20K aswell!!
  8. nice one also changed my mind about Toyota fitting it so just bought the part got a set of spanners pulled up at the Air section of my local petrol station and in 15 minutes I had fitted mine wont need touching for another 10 years thats if am keep the car that long of course..
  9. ignore my previous post mate was looking at something else in your pic. dont know the purpose of the rubber ones..
  10. think its to aide under body airflow to make the car stable when crusing at high speeds if you watch its on all four ends of the car. mates BMW 3 series has them too..IS200 has a drag coefficient of 0.28 which is very good for a car designed in the late 90's. modern top ranger ISF has 0.27 drag coefficient.
  11. I am having a new Toyota\Denso battery fitted by Toyota dealers this afternoon as that's what came in my IS3 and they quoted me £70 inc.VAT for just the battery and £20 to fit. these should last another 10 years as thats what the original battery had done and still works fine am only changing it due to age. worth trying Toyota dealers in your area..
  12. nice example for some reason i like the design and looks of the MK1 GS's than the MK2's... not sure why people block thier reg numbers in photos as everyone on the road can see your reg number when driving anyway!!
  13. yes pretty much the same chasis, suspension etc and guys correct me if am wrong but i read IS300 under pinings have been strengthend to handle the weight of the 3litre engine if ths is true then that will only be the difference between the two cars. oh and the 300 is very torquey aswell to paint a clear picture, IS200 makes 195NM of torque at 4600rpm the 300 makes almost 290NM at 3800rmp so based on these figures one can say at least 195NM is available at the wheels of IS300 at around a low 2500rpm.and based on the formula on how to calculate bhp IS300 is still making around 260NM at 5800rpm where maximum horse power is reached but the advantage lies in the fact that the engine is using 210 horses to make that torque of 260nm so as you can see this car does is not lack pulling power.. thats what a difference of 1litre in engine capacity can make..
  14. ok there is not much of a difference insurance, road tax and mpg wise between IS200 and IS300 so i think an IS300 will be your saviour as it lazyly sits at 2500rpm at 70mph as you can see this 3ltr is barely stressed :winky:
  15. is just to alert one its in reverse rather than 1st gear i think its a safety alert feature so one does not put it reverse thinking its 1st then slam the accelerator peddle only to run into the car behind you at the traffic lights!! trust me it happens mainly in America as majority are not used to driving 'Stick' as they call it (manual). so no its not a parking sensor i think later models did have the parking sensor..well in my case yes mine does have one.
  16. ok my bad!! maybe someone one here might have answers on this this one.
  17. its a 'close' gear ratio design to help it stay within 4600 - 6200 rpm power band which means it stays closer to its peak torque figure of 195NM without falling of it too drastically. and its a sports saloon so you will always be busy changing gears.all sports saloon/hathces mainly Jap cars like IS200, Honda Type R, Honda S2000 etc have close gear ratios... automatic version would suit you as its geared longer but its only 4 speed unless you go for IS300 wich is 5 speed manumatic so can be driven in auto or can be controlled manually on the steering wheel and you wont have to clutch down to drop or go up a gear aswell. i wouldnt waste my time tampering with final drive or diffs as lexus engineers have thier reason for setting it that way.. go auto if driving the manual is a mission!!
  18. am I the only one missing a new weight shedding mod here?? silly question but why would you want to disable your passenger air bag? we all know the reason why its there right...
  19. matey, its a 12 yr old car..come on now!! bound to happend at some point and worser if you live closer to the coast!!
  20. 400 hp from just NA is possible but very very tricky as you will need revs reach 8-9000rpm from a big capacity..why does it have to be naturally aspirated??the good news is a 3.0 litre straight 6 from the Supra (2JZ-GTE) if you have enough cash to splash on Turbo/Transmission modifications, thier pistons can push around 1000bhp but that will just be crazy HP which can only be used on the track...sounds like you from US http://us.lexusownersclub.com/
  21. This is true, when I told my dad I was buying a Lexus he said "what do you want a massive thing like that for?" he thought all Lexus were LS400! Lol.... even your dad knows thier built like war Tanks .. off topic: anyone wondered why rebels always use Toyota pick up trucks during country conflicts?? cus thats the only car that can withstand bullets and rocket shelling! get any Lexus car in there and they will have the Luxury to match ..IS will be good for a twisty getaway tho :lol:l!!
  22. hey Chris dont forget the winter tyres if you want to make it past your drive ...
  23. another 20 - 30 years and these LS400's will be collector cars as they are known as the first ever Lexus car. would fetch a lot of money than they are going for now. and congrats Martin...
  24. drove 70 miles from bedfordshire to go meet him as Lexus wanted £460 for a drivers wing mirror after some **** head broke it on purpose even when it was closed. cost me £40 all in and he fitted it aswell he had about 5 Lexus IS which he was breaking from wheels to bumpers to mirrors pretty much everything so worh making a list and he should def have what you need. he would help you fit them aswell.
