  1. I think those yellow ones looks nice but i prefer these!! dont miss the rear bumber on this one those LEDS look good might fit those hid number plate lights on mine to bring it into 2012.
  2. depends on how many miles one does on a monthly basis! the more miles you do the faster oil burns the less miles the less oil burns but a cars odometer mileage will also accelerate this process; and with my car being at 111,000 i do about 800 - 1000 miles every month so i tend to check my oil every 3 weeks and top up if required. any 5W30 in the market which meets API SJ, SL, SM or ILSAC GF3 will do although 10w40 wont hurt the engine but 5w30 is better for it. so long as you change your oil every 10,000 miles or 12 months then any brand will do but i personally lean towards performace ones like Castrol, Mobil, Shell and tho i havent used Motul before they are meant to be really good oils for Jap cars so mite try that for my next oil service. you can pick a genuine oil filter and sump plug washer for a 10tener here. happy servicing!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Lexus-Oil-Filter/170900433842?ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1&ih=007&category=174038&cmd=ViewItem
  3. Hey Rich just hope and pray my lottery numbers drop this weekend and your bonus will be paid on the sale of this LS...and whilst we are there; i can also take order of 1 of the 500 hand built LFA for a nurburgring trip...
  4. if you TTE your IS200 you will always long for that JZ conversion!! hold off for an IS3 which has the Supra JZ block and sport VVT-i cams from factory and TTE that instead! will put a smile on your face even in stock form .. and if you have a spare £5k you can do the boost!! havent been modding my cars lately but think am gona do some slight mods currently got Apexi high flow panel filter on order from US which might release another 5 bhp with help of MAF sensor cleaning and ECU reset! might also do red brake caliper painting, darken(tint) my back windows and convert my back number plate lights and interior lights to hid one's! happy with exhaust system so wont tamper with that... gosh thought i was done with modding but Lexus is slowly tempting me back into it again! ....hope i dont start looking for sport suspensions and coilovers once it gets back into my blood stream...
  5. bet you cant wait to get in every morning for a drive!! yes they are quite nice test drove one in Jan when my IS3 went in for cam/drive belts change at the Milton Keynes branch and was impressed with the drive, interior panels, dials and steering tho i didnt get the chance to explorer the power as I like my cars with a bit of power, it does stick well around tight corners unlike the MK1 IS's which you need to be awake to drive when attacking a corner so not to kick the back end out and gear shifts was smooth as butter! shame the IS350 version was not brought to Europe but for now am still enjoying my MK1 IS3 so i dont think i need an upgrade yet..but IS250 was a nice drive tho..
  6. he seems like a genuine guy from the advert and from the pics the car looks good cosmetically tyres, body and interior but obviusly we cannot tell if its ok mechanically untill you see it in the metal to check all parts , electrics ,test drive and if all paper work are genuine.. worth checking out i would say you can always walk away if something is not right mechanically but from the pics, body and interior looks good to me so the thre main things i personally will look for if I am to make the trip to view will be electrics, mechanical parts (gearbox, power steer, signs of fluid leaks), LPG condition and paper works .
  7. they say cars are like women! you will never ever find the perfect one even when you buy one from new... you might meet one who can cook and clean but might lack in the looks department and one who cannot cook or clean but her looks are striking hour glass figure!! as my grandma said to me go for one who has 60-70% of what you look for and try and work with them to achieve the remaining 30-40% they lack... and this applies to cars you can search and wait for the 100% with the right spec, colour, year, service history, few owners, low mileage to come along but it will never exist; there will always be a shortcoming! rather, pick one which has at least 70% of what you look for in a car be it year, colour, low mileage, service histroy, performance, fuel efficiency(LPG) etc and work on the 30% to bring it to your taste. i.e new set of tyres, paint touch up work, new brakes, service, all fluid changes, new stereo etc and you will be a happy man :D
  8. Should have picked the 3.0 R spec and not mention to the wife it packed 245 bhp under the hood . regarding the error message what internet brower are you using if its firefox or google chrome try using internet explorer but looking at the error it looks like its failing at the e-mail method! double check your e-mail address entered again it either thinks your e-mal address is spam or not genuine or try an alternative e-mail address. if you still having issues registering they should have a contact us phone or e-mail address to get in contact with thier Admins.
  9. Hey MarkoIS have no idea on how to tune this unit as I don't have one installed but would be worth contacting this company based in Japan either call or e-mail them for a step by step document on how to tune air/fuel mixture on the IS although they have discontinued selling camcon they should be able to help or point to the right direction. scroll all the way down for thier contact details. have you noticed any gains in terms of engine responsiveness, power, torque or mpg improvement after fitting Camcon? Guys in US mentioned on a few forums the Lexus ECU fights it and over writes the Camcon programming after a while but not sure how accurate this is! http://www.nengun.com/power-enterprise/camcon
  10. there are similarities in the design aspect to the Toyota GT86 but looks nice... i do like the front grills tho thats how a sports car should look like; have a bit of a mean look to it... http://www.creativecrash.com/marketplace/3d-models/vehicle/cars/sport/c/toyota-gt-86-2013
  11. you wont know how accurate your cars mileage count is until you have it professionally read using those high tec measuring equipment's but with trip computers in modern cars being digital i doubt they will be out of sync by a large margin and we know how Lexus pursuits to perfect every part/equipments on their cars so they wont be getting their odometers out of sync they might over read thier speedos for road safety as every car manufacture does but i doubt it will be the same for trip(mileage) computer count...cant really say the same for mpg figures the computer shows tho as all car manufactures makes their computers mpg figures look good hence i work mine out using the website based on how many miles i have traveled using trip computer count against cost of fuel.
  12. this will make things easier darkoracle!! i use it all the time and its calculations are accurate. go down to 'Real life miles per Gallon' and just fill in price per litre of petrol! how much fuel purchased, and how many miles travelled on that fuel based on your trip computer's mile count and you will get your real world mpg figure... http://www.fuel-economy.co.uk/calc.shtml
  13. since mine is the same as Chri's TTE thought i'll give you the night view...
  14. ok i have owned two fords first was 1.25 Zetec fiesta and 2.5 V6 cougar and i must say fords are really good cars if well maintined. i.e regular oil changes every 10K infact i had my fiesta for 2 and half years and never had an oil change done! why?? because the Zetec engine is built by Yamaha and the longer motorway journeys on this small engine results in it consuming a lot of oil on monthly basis so all i did was top up with shell 5w 30 every 3-4 weeks and this thing started first time everytime and run everywhere with no breakdown issues. I only changed from my 2.5 V6 cougar to IS300 because i wanted four doors and bit more oomph but the cougar drove well and had some guts the only breakdown i suffered was faulty alternator which was a common fault on the cougars so was bound to happen at some point. so keep the fords in top shape and they will run and run.... ST170 on paper are quick and will handle but i doubt they will be any different in the real world compared to IS200 as both are 6 speed and do 135mph the only difference between the two is the 0-60 time of 7.9 to ST170 compared to 9.2 for IS200 but then again how many times does one race from 0-60?? 29mpg to IS and 31 mpg to ST170 so mpg is the same pretty much if the IS is driven sensibly...IS200 being 6 cylinder will be more refined than the 4 pot ST and wont feel strained at higher speeds the Lexus brand gives a bit of class on the road being a 'luxury' brand.. in a nutshell, both will perform the same and return similar mpg so will boil down to if you want a hatch or a saloon.. if you really want a hot hatch get a Civic Type R and if you want a faster IS, get an IS300... hope this helps without being bias to Lexus...
  15. from the pics your IS looked really good condition for a 99' 170K no wonder it was scooped up quickly...farewell!!
  16. Hi Mike this might help!! http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=78264&hl= and as you can see bluenose is happy!!
  17. congrats on the new purchase :hocus-pokus: !! you had been looking for quite sometime now and the right one has come along! the noise level and smoothness will be quite different fom a diesel..I still cant hear my 10yr old IS3 engine idling when in traffic... which shows Lexus does Petrol engines very well... enjoy!!
  18. OMG 550hp chanelling through a standard IS200 diff !! talk of Toyota over engineering a car and chucking 150hp engine under the hood no wonder most IS200 drivers feel the car can take more power and 150hp was not enough to start with... hey Mat i want to see some videos of your 2JZ-GTE taking on M5's and RS6's in the IS or maybe an LFA round a track..
  19. have it code read and checked over by your local Lexus dealer cus i wouldnt be able to live with 9 mpg on a car if its not an LFA.. they might charge to have the code read but you dont have to do any repairs and replacements with them rather just buy the parts from them and have local trusted garage who are familier with Lexus engines fit them.
  20. you might be right mate! maybe she had those after market parts fitted during her ownership at least that saves me the hassle of doing that my self !!
  21. fogs might have been aftermarket fiited by previous owner but previous owner was a Mrs so i doubt she would be into car modding! my main beams are also hid's maybe she fitted those on it aswell but cant see any after market wiring of this linking to the car battery when i pop my bonnet open! I meant the 'TTE options' in my Lexus owners booklet its listed as 'IS300 Sport + Styling Kit' I think those were seperate models as also confirmed by parkers. http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/facts-and-figures/lexus/is/saloon-1999/
  22. both dipped and main has HID's fogs on my TTE's are sport Yellow ones not sure if none TTE models had the yellow ones tho but there are lots of new yellow IS fogs on ebay for conversion if one wants but they not cheap i.e. not £10 or £20
  23. havent done it before but from this pro here looks like a 2 minute job.
