  1. Like they say 'Once you go Lexus you cant go back' :D . Its just something about the cars which makes people come back or get hooked. SC430's are nice cars and rare sight on the roads aswell. saw one in the metal when i took my car to a Lexus specialist and the Interior of that car looked really good nice cream leather.
  2. Nice IS mate!! must admit wasnt a fun of dark Green or Green coloured cars but after seeing one valeted with cream leather interior on the m'way I thought they actually looked quite nice. Green ones are quite rare aswell.
  3. Yeh the things which used to set apart 'Luxury cars' of past was the electric windows, sun roof, all leather seats, cruise control, traction control, alloy wheels, sat nav, trip computers etc... but like you said even a small KIA hatch has all those features now as standard or optional. so the gap between a then 'luxury' car and a non Luxury car has really shrinked. My previous car which was a 99 ford Cougar V6 had all leathers, all electrics, traction control, trip computer, mpg computer(funny enough my 02 IS300 doesnt even have this). AC, 6 CD changer, H7 light bulbs V6 engine, which all could be classified as Luxury and drove really smooth too. So I guess todays Luxury will be the badge even saying that most Honda Accords and VW's I have rode in felt better than the 2011 E class merc cdi i rode in munich(taxi) and my mates 330Ci BMW. which I think was down to Luxury car manufactures i.e (Merc, bmw, audi,) even Lexus going for a more harder suspension setting so the cars can handle on the limit. so the word 'Luxury' will now mean the badge and cars engineering but saying that, even mordern day KIA's have the reputation of being well engineered and more reliable than say a BMW of today hence you dont see many KIA's broken down on the road side.
  4. you are getting 2 mpg more as the stated town driving for auto is 20 mpg. 29mpg figure will be for both town and motorway driving so if you dont drive on motorway you wont achieve this figure.
  5. 'we buy any carrrrrr . com :winky: tho might be quick to sell through them you might get a lower offer from them. you can get a quote from thier website!! just noticed other 55 plate RX h's going for less than £10K with full service history and similar mileage etc so maybe you have priced a bit higher..
  6. not worth taking it on if you dont know your way round the engine. I had mine replaced by Lexus Milton Keynes which included Idler, tensior and drive belt for peace of mind and 12months warranty if it snaps...but not water pump. i might need to have that done now i guess. some one here might have a step by step process of how its done though.
  7. Open all four windows for 2 mins the moment you get in and fresh air from outside will sort it out. :) oh and switch it from 'air recirluation' to the the option which draws air from outside and after 2 mins everything will be clear.
  8. Yeh makes engine note sound awesome when the revs are climbing I can hear all 6 cylinders now as the Toyota OEM filter i had made it a bit quieter . def not like an Induction kit sound but more sportier engine note. might also be in my head but i think the car responds better after i fitted it. mpg hasnt changed that much but then again its a 3 litre petrol engine so wasnt expecting 50mpg when i bought the car. K&N should be ok for IS200's as they don't have Mass Air Flow sensor like IS300's.
  9. Hi Dav_lambo, Toyota Oil filter should be ok blitz and hks are both established Jap tuning brands so thier Oil filters should be ok too tho I havent personally used one the OE Toyota oil filter will be your best bet as it be cheaper. The stock Toyota air filter is good and K&N tho will flow better might not give a huge power or torque increase but engine note might sound sport (like Apexi i have in mine) and can last upto 50,000 miles before needing a clean so tho more pricier than stock OEM filter will work out cheaper in the long run if you keeping the car for that long. Spark plugs good for these engines are Denso or NGK so just stick with those and youll be fine. regarding Oil any 5w 30 or 10w 40 oil in the market should be fine but lean towards 5w 30 semi or fully synthetic if you can to help VVT-i controller function at its best I am biased towards branded oils like Castrol . Mobil etc.. and currenlty running Castrol Magnatec 5W 30 for best performance and economy. Happy servicing :)
  10. Hi Jamalaya as i confirmed earlier you do have the right to have it repaired under sale of goods act law. have a read through this link. section 48A (3) applies to your case which extends to section 48B so i dint think you need to pay a penny to Lexus. I recon you could phone them up and quote these sections to them they will then contact thier Legal dept for confirming and come back with an answer you want to hear. http://www.legislati...1979/54/part/5A you can also mention about this being a known issue by Lexus so chances of you causing the head gasket to blow in your ownership within 3 months is very very slim.
  11. thats a nice looking IS... how much horses did you manange to free from all the mods?
  12. if you have only had the vehicle for 3 months then should you not be covered by the sale of goods act law? or am I missing something here? http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/sale-of-goods/your-rights-buying-second-hand-cars/second-hand-cars-your-rights/
  13. dont get me wrong guys BMW M3 -M5's are one fast cars both drag racing and tracks but S2000's even tho they dont have a lot of grunt can really do wonders round a track and have seen lots of videos of them taking on porches etc and beating them from thier small sewing machine engine. I need four doors so an S2K wont be practical for me personally shame tho.
  14. never said the engine was like for like to an F1 engine; was comparing the speed at which the psitons travel under heavy load. I think Honda said it was somewhere around 55 - 60mph which are close if not similar to f1 engines; come on I know its not an f1 engine but was designed and enginnered by Honda's racing Team. think about this apart from the Honda Type R's how many production engines can kiss 9000rpm without blowing up except the few LFA's, ferraris and lambo's which cost £300,000 and above.
  15. yeh!! i dont know how the Japanese do it but they are able to extract ridicilous horsepowers from thier smaller engines and those cars can still run reliably all day long!! strange how my IS300 returns the same mpg figures as your V8 5 litre! will definately get one if the budget permits oneday but for now I am having fun with the IS300!
  16. Nice ride Damien..i do agree a GTR looks fast even when not moving and for 7 year olds to give you compliments means Nissan did a great job with the cars design! GTR is not for the faint hearted as I watched a race between one and a Bugatti Veyron in the streets of Moscow and the speed of both cars was scary. tho the Bugatti took it, it did not have it easy with the GTR on its coat tails all along! ISF is certainly 'no attention' car which i personally like its more of a 'sleeper car' doesnt shout and not known by the public untill it takes people by surprise with that V8 roar . 420bhp will put a smile on anyones face so GTR wont be missed for long. Enjoy it...
  17. 1. Yes you 100% correct i dont know anything about cars. 2. checking pointless specs and stats is not an obsession but helps to tell me roughly what a car will be like in real life. oh and if specs and stats were irrelevant car manufactures wont quote them in thier owners manuals. 3. why should i bottle up my point of view if i dont agree with ones views. chill out matt and not take things too seriously we all here as a 'Lexus family' to help each other when in need, share ideas, debate have a laugh, attend meets etc so just enjoy the forum and just take ones views or comments with a pinch of salt.
  18. tell that to an S2000, ISF, M, RS and AMG drivers who use those cars for everyday real life driving..
  19. tell me matt what else will make this naturally aspirated 2.0L so fast round a track if its not down to Japanese engineering and handling dynamics?? the piston speed alone in that engine is similar to a formula one engine and was designed to run on the limit without blowing! and your thread has not been derailed by me nor anyone..we all just having a discussion which has taken that turn!!
  20. come on Mikey you know it was down to Japanese engineering and not the 250kg lesser weight! to show how good the M3 is on paper it has 1.2 litre more, has 2 more cylinders and makes over 330 bhp even if it weighs 1495kg thats still 226bhp per ton advantage compared to S2000's 185bhp per ton weight. BMW's are nice cars to own and drive so enjoy it ...
  21. forget DRL and just turn your headlights on its effectively the same thing and wont cost you nothing :). joking!!! just fit them on your car If you like them..
  22. for a 19 year old you really "balling" in that Lexus :winky: . at 19 I was driving a mid 90's renault Clio with only 60hp.. take care of this Lex and it will take care of you...
