  1. well my TTE IS300 has Sport stickers on the back windows (and i dont mean aftermarket ones), has a gas sport suspension so sits a bit lower like IS200 Sport, has Sport pedals, runs on 18" low profile Sport tyres, drives and behaves like a Sport Sedan. so this makes it what?? an IS300 Sport...
  2. Cheers for that LexIS200port, dont forget to check the condition of your pads and discs whilst you changing over to winter tyres and pick some off Eurocar parts
  3. Hi guys, had new Pagid brake disks and pads fitted to my car over the weekend and during the process of fitting the back wheels i noticed the mechanic spinning the right trye forwards but the opposite tyre was spinning counter clock wise. I was under the impression both IS200/300 sport had LSD's fitted and both wheels were meant to spin the same directon? does this mean I have an open diff or an LSD? someone correct me if I am wrong.. off topic but Eurocarparts are doing 30% off disks and pads at the mo so worth checking thier website if you think you due new brakes. paid £125 for four set Pagid discs which should have orignally set me almost £180. money saved paid for the labour :winky: .
  4. I would like IS200 body with the curves + IS350 engine really deep inside the engine bay and autobox + IS200’ front and backside and IS250’s double holes oops exhaust I meant :D
  5. Hi micker35 if you feel you need winter tyres there no point getting another persons view just shop around your self and pick the ones you can afford. Good luck :)
  6. IS300 sure does tick some boxes..with its toned down Supra engine, powerful gearbox and lighter weight compared to GS300 which shares the same engine. IS300 is a 400bhp street car which has been detuned to half of that without a turbo , ECU and high power exhaust..stick these missing items back on there and its a Supra with four doors.. so the potential is there to get back to Supra power with a bit of luxury to match if you wish.
  7. am with Barrat on this one, MK1 IS's do look timeless and even more when done up well. MK2's do look good with sport body kits and 18 inch wheels but its just something about the MK1's. I would only opt for a MK2 only in IS350 F sport. with 300 horse power and tweaked handling dynamics, thats enough for both street and track driving sad thing is thats its only available in US/Japan.. . if one prefers power over looks then IS250 but will still boil down to personal taste as some might think the MK2's look better than the 1's but i think the 1's look better.. if i would have to jump ship it would be INFINITI G37 saloon once the prices are within budget ..no slouch car either. :winky:
  8. high octane fuels will not automatically slap like 20+bhp to the IS200 or an NA engine compared to say the Subaru/Mitsu evo Turbo but can wake things up a lil bit on NA engines running high compression ratios like keeping the torque curve more linear from very low to high rpms, car could be a bit more sharper to respond, high speed cruising will be a breeze with no stress to the engine etc. I alternate between 95 and 99RON to be honest and I'm currently running the Shell 99 at the moment due to cleaning additives, it being better at cold/freezing early mornings startups for my engine compared to 95 and i can happilly sit at 120mph on a late nite motorway journey with no stress to the engine. only way to find out if an NA car has gained extra bhp from high octane is to stick it on a dyno but like i said it wont be much unless its running redicilous high compression ratios like 11:0.1, 11:5.1, 12:0.1 as found in mainly high revving Jap cars eg JDM honda integra type R has been mapped to run 100RON from its high revving 1.8litre engine run this car on the exact ocatne Honda intended and you can hit 62mph in 5.8secs and clock 150mph all from a little 1.8litre. all down to how and engine has been tuned by the manufacture and ECU spec... if one wants power, forget using high octane on smaller less revving engines and go for high revving cars, forced induction cars or bigger cc engines as thats where true horse power lies.
  9. IS300's dont have gearbox filter..well thats what i was told by the mechanic when i had mine drained and refilled last year so just the oil needs changing and thats it.
  10. 18-20 in town and stop start driving and 30-33mpg on longer motorway journeys is achievable for me in my IS3. all down to how its driven really!! hasnt let me down.. This link has few tips you can check when looking. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=78264&hl= curiuos question: why IS300 and not another LS400 or LS430?
  11. Nice clean example...looks well looked after hope it finds a good home.
  12. a grown man like you could make that decision. I did..
  13. Guys this back and forth is just bull s . ever since I started driving I have never fitted winter tyres to my cars and I have owned 7 different cars ranging from a little front wheel drive 1 litre hatch to my current rear wheel driven Lex. All these cars have managed the winter period without me being stuck in snow or a ditch as a result of not wearing winter tyres…I actually bought the Lex during the winter month of Jan this year and we did encounter some snow during this month which the car drove OK without wearing winter tyres…I have not driven a car with winter tyres during winter months so couldn’t tell if all my previous cars including my current car would have gripped, kept me out of a ditch or would have driven any better. I am not saying winter tyres are no good or are waste of money in general as industry tests have proven they do have their advantages in snow but I do not bother with them for these personal reasons. I don’t see the point in forking out say £200 for a set of tyres I might use for a period of a month to 3 months as I personally think we (UK) do not experience Russian or New york level of severe winter to justify this. I am not that fortunate so don’t have the space to store my summer tyres during winter months and vice verca during summer months so again I personally cannot justify owning a winter tyre as lack of space wont permit this. If it snows heavily and the roads look undriveable after looking out of my window, I just stay in without bothering to move my car and as we all know the snow clears out after about a day or 2 in UK. So unlike me, if one is fortunate enough to have the storage space for summer tyres and feels they need a winter tyre then by all means go buy your self a winter tyre. If one feels they don’t need winter tyres and can skilfully drive with summer tyres during winter months but don’t bother moving the car for a day or two when roads are undrivable from judgement like me then save your money and stay at home. At the end of the day we are all grown enough to make that buy or not to buy decision.
  14. which concludes winter tyres was not fitted by your company but chaines were provided to give the normal tyres grip in snow.
  15. Have you considered Lexus Milton Keynes I have used them a couple of times but not for car servicing. they seem to be reasonably priced. worth asking them for their essesntial care service package as that works out cheaper for cars 5 years or older.. or try these guys. I have used both toyotec and albin for spark plugs, brake fluid, diff and gearbox oil changes and service and price was reasonable havent used Jem yet thier website can quote service prices. http://www.toyotec.co.uk/ http://www.albinbmotors.co.uk/ http://www.jemlexus.co.uk/
  16. yeh looks awesome at night i find my self unlocking the car like 5 metres away just to admire it..this is what you need. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1497.l2649 you can also go for the 36 LED panel as the IS lighting unit is quiet wide so can accomodate more panel size. delivery took only two days and 5 mins to fit and 1 year warranty.
  17. I don't know how easy it is but it can be done with a dual filament bulb and some re wiring as I understand it so they work as brake lights and fog lights so not an MOT fail. :) I also want to do this but haven't looked into yet in any real depth. Thanks for that Chris will do some more research on this.. oh and guys if you havent converted your interior lights to leds do it.. it transforms the car at night did mine yesterday and car looks 2012 next step is to do back number plate ones aswell and maybe led back lights after that :).
  18. tell me about it chris I think MK1's will be classic cars in the tuning scene. MK2 IS's dont come close in style..those dudes did a good job with thier cars best bits i liked was the dash lite up in the begining , red devilish looking angel lights on the burgandy IS and the flashing led back lights on the same car. BTW how easy will it be to convert back fogs to light up when brake pedal is depressed and do you recon it will be an MOT fail?
  19. you can get some ideas from here. no IS in this video looks the same
  20. haha you make me laugh ..still dont beleive?? bring me any Supercharged car from any corner of this world making 211 bhp, weighing in at 1500KG with an auto box. and I will show you i my IS300 can suck in as much air and compress in as much air as the supercharger around a race track. go figure
  21. care to give an example of where i might have displayed a level of foolishness?? in fact i dont want to hijack this thread so we can start a new one to have that discussion if you like
  22. I fail to understand why my name is being mentioned here when I haven’t contributed a single letter to this thread. Matt have you noticed ever since you joined this forum just 3 months ago you have picked little fights with 3 members including my self? You have picked unnecessary arguments with zimnismoboy34 on this thread http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=79007&hl= had unnecessary fights with me on most threads and now with fil4362 on this thread. can you not see a pattern here?? but what you fail to realize is we are all different and have our individual points of view so don’t expect what ever words you post on here to be agreed by everyone and I don’t expect the same as well I take from what I think might benefit me from posts and ignore the rest you might have one or two ideas but that does not make you a guru on everything. Like I said no need to pick fights with people if they do not agree with you. just my 2 cents
  23. yes of a smaller capacity engine i meant !! and i do agree people associate volvos as being a car grand dads drive but the T5's and R versions are insane! mainly the S60 R's those cars already come with 300bhp from stock that is enough to propel them to 60 in like 5 secs and 170mph if speed restricter is removed now thats porshe carrera territory no wonder Ford uses thier engines in thier RS and ST versions..
