  1. mordern auto boxes adapts thier response times and shift parameters to how an owner or previous owner drives so if the previous owner was a 'gentle on the throttle' driver the box will learn and adapt to how it responds and shifts so my guess will be maybe the previous owner was such a driver hence there is more delay to responde when you floor all of a sudden because the response or shift parameters are not used to that 'Sudden' command. the ECU will still work out what the driver intendeds but the response might be a bit more slugish. ask the dealer to disconnect and reconnect batteries before your next test drive to reset every parameters in the ECU and this time with enough fuel in the tank maybe you can chuck £20 quids worth in it just so you can spend a bit more time with the car on the road and also have it in Sport PWR Mode. those 450h's are no slouch cars...good luck
  2. i deny matt i haven't driven on a racetrack but will that prevent me from keeping up with a 220bhp Sport Supercharged car of equal power to weight ratio and transmission to my IS300 Sport?? i doubt it unless my opponent also knows his way round that specific track both of us will be bedfordshire track virgins. if that answers your question..
  3. get the sport supercharged car ready for me first matt then after the race, you can then make up your mind about if i have ever driven on a race track or not..
  4. Have you got the 220bhp "Sport Supercharged" car I am looking to challenge?? if you have one then finding a racetrack is no problem. there is one near befordshire
  5. KentIs300 this is not a fantasy buddy this is real... bring me a car that has 'SPORT' officially on its V5 doc which is 'Supercharged' making 220bhp weighing 1500kg with a tiptronic box and i will show you lot my NA IS300 without 'SPORT' printed on the V5 or 'Supercharged' labelled to it will handle as good round a corner and be as fast on the straights as the labelled 'Supercharged' 'Sport' car in a one on one race round a track even with that car having a 10bhp advantage over me. I think you guys might need to go figure out why this is the case...
  6. physically no because the 1.4L does not have a device bolted to the side of the engine but technically yes because its cylinders are charging the same volume held in the 1L supercharged engine so regarless of how both engines are labelled they will crank out equal power.like i said how it gets in is not that important concentrate on whats contained in there thats where you get your power from. Sorry LexIS200Sport i guess we can go back to LSD's again
  7. yes becsause its sucking in as much air and cramming in as much like a 220bhp supercharged engine. how air or volume gets into an engine is not important. like i said in a previous thread the most important factor is the volume of air contained in a cylinder and if an NA engine is able to suck in and compress the same volume as a forced induction one that NA engine will make the same kilowatt of power as the forced induction. dont tell anyone matt but secret of making power is amount of volume or air contained in the cylinders.. how that volume is initially presented into the engine/cylinder be it forced in or sucked in is not important.
  8. engine in the Mondeo ST220 is a bored out 2.5 Duratec V6 which was in the Cougars . so essentailly the same engine in Noble M400 just been bored thats all.. originally designed by Porsche so no am not wrong a bored out engine is essentially the same engine with same block but bigger bores.
  9. V6 ford Cougar with the same ford Duratec engine found in Noble M400 cars but was bored out and turbo charges by Noble engineers was only 170bhp in the Cougar as you know.
  10. I put it down as IS300 and nothing else follows after that but guess what that brings my insurance down because they dont know its a Compact Sport car which has a Supra engine and once you drive one you forget it only has 210bhp :D so i save money on insurance because Lexus did not make it obvious but can have fun just like an S Line Audi driver whos paying more on thier insurance just because it has been made obvious by Audi as a Sport model :D cool huh ...
  11. Exactly that will mean its a Supra Sport....it wears a GE code this Toyota code means agressive 'Sport' cams larger valves plus high valve lift, and a valve angle which ensures power in mid to high speeds.
  12. No worries Chris :) IS300 SPORT it is for me and if any one disagrees they can check my back windows for proof. if they still disagree i can pop my bonnet so they can take a good glimpse of that 2J Zee and if they still disagree they can wonder why I am keeping up with them round the corners or on the straights in their obviusly labled Sport car :D
  13. you missed this matt or would i be wrong??
  14. I know it wasnt officially labelled and sold by Lexus as an IS300 SPORT. but like I said earlier in my posts some manufactures will not bother or dont feel the need to label some of thier cars or models a "Sport" even though it can be called and technically is a Sport model due to its spec, power and handling abilities. an example will be a 3.0 Subaru Legacy Spec B... this car is not officially labelled as a Subaru Legacy Sport on the manufactures brochure or V5 form but that car is as Sporty as an obviously labelled 3.0 S Line Audi quattro A4. due to the fact that the Subaru packs a sophisticated sporty AWD train and Bilstein sports suspension. so technically it is a Sport model although its not been made obvious by the manufacturer or on the V5 form. so i wont be wrong in calling my IS an IS300 sport technically.
  15. Looks like am the only one with an IS300 Sport on this forumn. :D as you can see Sport has been etched on my windows from factory, car has full Sport bodykits and its mechanical parts are Sport parts like Double wishbone suspension, Torsen LSD, brakes, Tyres etc as confirmed on my earlier posts. OK lets pretend all these were fitted as options from factory, does this still make my IS300 a non Sport model compared to an officially labelled IS200 Sport which already comes with the same specs as my fitted options from the factory? thats the million dollar question am asking you guys will these two cars be any different spec and handling wise? answer is NO
  16. does this make an ISF with an automatic box less of a car compared to an M3 with a manual box?? NO infact the ISF's box will shift up and down faster than the driver in the manual M3 can blink but thats not what we are debating here... Guys like i said forget what is printed on paper, or type of seats fitted to a car as that wont help you go faster round corners.. does is300 have a sport suspension - Yes does is3000 have low profile tyres - yes does IS300 have bigger brakes and calipers - Yes does is300 have stability control - yes does IS300 have under body trays for high speed cruising - Yes does is300 have a rigid chasis - Yes more than the Supra does is300 have power - Yes so does all these tick the boxes to be called a Sport model - Yes drop a Turbo in it and it will be an IS300 Super Car. All am saying is Lexus was not bothered about labeeling it a Sport but it certainly is a sport sedan more over the IS model is infact advertised by Lexus as Compact Sport Sedan anyway.
  17. That's right. And that's why it's not an IS300 Sport. It's an IS300. Simple just like how a lambo Gallardo is not labelled Lambo Gallardo Sport on paper doesnt mean its not a sports car ..try racing one off the lights even with a granny behind the wheels :D
  18. as my previous question name me an option or spec which IS200 sport has which IS300 doesnt?? and likewise what would a Sport 330i BMW or S Line Audi have which the IS300 doesnt?? dont say suspension setup because IS300 sits on sport double wish bones. dont say tyres because IS300 sits on low profile sport tyres from factory, dont say power beacuse over 200 horses is enough, dont say chasis because its more rigid than the Toyota Supra. KentIS300 I am not going by what a car might be labelled on paper I am.only going buy what a car packs to make it into the League of a Sport model and as i confimred IS300 packs all of it so yes its not labelled by Lexus as IS300 Sport but it packs all ingredients of a sport model sold by anyother manufacturer out there to date .
  19. there you go like i said the name "Sport" doesnt mean anything other than a selling point. Vehicle stability control Antilock brake system low profile tyres electronic brake force distribution larger calipers larger brake discs double whishbone sport suspension front and rear limited slip diff lower suspension setup larger brake master cylinder all these are ingredients which makes a sport sedan and as you are aware IS300 packs all that including one of the best straight 6 cylinders produced to date..
  20. ok what would a sport model have and i mean any manufacturers sport model not just Lexus that is not in the IS300??
  21. fact that BMW does not label a 330i and fact that Audi does not label the 3.0 Quattro A4 a Sport doesnt not mean they are not sport sedans make no mistake those cars can handle , accelerate, corner and stop just like any labelled sports car and IS300 is in the same league aswell. can you name me an option or spec which IS200 sport has which IS300 doesnt?? some manufactures just dont bother labeling some sport sedans a sport on paper but take one round a corner and you know its got sport written all over it
  22. mine says B04B aswell so am guessing pretty much all sport models in UK had it was this the case for IS250/ IS220d's or did they not get the special treatment from Lexus??
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torsen scroll down to the bottom where it says 'rear axle only' and our cars are listed there. :) looks like most Jap manufactures prefer Torsen Type LSD's
  24. matt even if Lexus does not state it as a sport model it has all the parts which makes a compact Sports Sedan including bigger brake discs and Limited Slip differential and the last time i checked car manufactures only fitted all these to only Sport models..
