  1. matts quote "So back to his "formula". 500hp is 500hp. Lets turbocharge the IS and give it 500bhp. Now lets take a Formula 3000 car, that has a three litre engine, just like your IS, and makes around 500bhp (460-500 ball park), and lets put them both on the dyno. Which is faster?"
  2. and i thought you were an intelligent boy matt... thought we have had this discussion before on another thread..read my lips again! horse power is horse power regardless of how an engine is aspirated. there is nothing like a higher level 500bhp M5 and a lower level 500bhp turbo IS300. the turbo charger does not mean '500bhp + turbo' it means 500bhp thats it. so again if these two cars a stuck on a dynomometer they will both yield apples(500bhp) at the crank. again matt!! how air gets into an engines cylinder is not important but what is contained in there is the important factor cus that where you make power from. LexIS200Sport .. you are right will ignore him now. and as much as i hate to say this matt i have a faster car than you. deal with it. Good night matt
  3. Welcome mate! not sure about needing an extra capacitor as I have only done my interior lights and not the stop and indicators LEDs are the futrue so i would go LEDs if you can!! makes the car look more modern.
  4. like i said matt. I think you come across as an intelligent guy and i applaud you very well for that. takes a wise man to unserstand this comment. used to modify my cars in the past and tend to leave them standard these days matt if i need more power, i upgrade to a car with more power from factory! works out cheaper that way. 500bhp M5 and 500bhp turbo charged IS300 are all apples with regards to BHP figures. stick these two cars on a dyno and both will give you apples. 9 years no claims matt with no accidents or speeding tickets... and thats with driving with summer tyres in winter aswell!! go figure :zee:
  5. Hi SachinC..this link will help for the number plate light swap. interior lights are easy to do. remove plastic cover remove old or existing bulb fit new LED buld replace plactic cover :) havent got round to doing my number plates yet tho... http://my.is/forums/f64/is300-how-change-license-plate-lights-340802/
  6. if the cassette adapters you bought sounds like trash doesnt mean all do. can i hear music loud and clear when using my cassete adapter through the 8 speaker system? absolutely..can i pick up phone calls aswell and hear my caller and vice verca? absolutely..and was ll for 5 pounds and it does the job. decision is for the OP to make.
  7. hi LexIS, no its not all stock engine with only an intake filter..
  8. will run for MP in Yorkshire ray.. and feel free to pop round to my office for a cuppa if i win.. and maybe you can have a spin in my magic IS300..
  9. Do i have to answer your question matt?? NO i don't.. i choose to answer questions when i want and to whom i want. If you want to know what what all these are doing on a snow thread then i suggest you trace back to early part of this thread and the answer will be staring you in the face about who brought up power to weight figures on this thread. me a fool?? you come across an intelligent guy matt you really do and i applaud you Can i hold my 2JZ engine at 150mph?? Yes i can and i know what speed I am currenlty doing when my neddle is sitting a quater way just above 150mph so i dont need markers or individual points of speed to know matt. I think you might need glasses Well I just thought I'd have a quick look in to see how everyone is doing but I think that I need to have a look on ebay to find some wellies..... Nobys bull**** is staining my socks..... I fear that Noby will be posting quite late tonight...... No school tomorrow. give your socks a wash transporter . I recommend Ariel. IS300 is my Ariel whats yours?? :D Yep! I get more sense out of my nearly two year old son. He only speaks three words!! What we now know is: • An IS300 can do 150MPH at a constant speed (might be a contender for LeMans 24)?? • Winter tyres are a waste of time as Pirelli summer tyres do the same job. (got new Pirelli's on the Celica but what do I know) • In Britain the chance of snow is limited to two weeks. • Spring starts a month earlier down south.... • BMW's are sh!t • The IS300 outruns anything "in it's weight capacity"¿ varying from 200 to 300BHP N/A or turbocharged... (even though it won't outrun a 325)... • Everybody's driving experience is the same and weather conditions never change so we can base times, top speed and acceleration on figures between different cars. • The IS300 is classed as a performance car. • The IS300 does defy the laws of physics. There was me thinking the IS300 was just a mid-class standard vehicle..... summer tyres does a good job in winter where i live fact that spring officiall starts on the 20th of does not mean it cannot come 20 days earlier as we all know how unpredictable weather is in UK. Yes BMW's are Sh!t been there done that. Never said IS300 outruns anything but will outrun yours tho. IS300 wont outrun a 325i?? why dont you try a 330Ci.. on a straight line my mates 330Ci always stares at my round lights in a race. if a car is capable of 150mph? guess what.. its classed as a performance car give me a reason why it wont dey laws of physics?? physics tells me a 270bhp car with less weight should accelerate faster than it but this wasnt the case. IS300 mid class standard vehicle?? chuck a turbo in it and change the head to a GTE spec and you can eat an M5 for breakfast . lots of guys on the US forumns have done this.
  10. a product and i mean any product on this earth cannot be reliable without having a good build quality. does that make sense? guess what ray i owned a 97 520i, my very best mate owns a 330Ci coupe and have driven it countless times when we go on long tirps and thats where i make my comparisions between my IS and his. and you would be surprised to know IS's are more comfortable than 330's and am on about the E46's. member of my family owns the 3.0si X3. as you can see I too have owned a 5 series before and if i hated BMW i wouldnt have bought one with my hard earned cash. I dont hate them i just think they are over hyped for what they are thats all.
  11. apart from very tight corners mine competes very well with 328i and 330i's thank you...lack of comfort? IS wasnt built for that. GS and LS were. lack of build quality. even my dog knows anything Toyota will out last any thing German not just BMW.. thats what Lexus is known for build quality with regards to lasting not flashy build quality(BMW).
  12. Can a Rolls Royce engine fly ? Yes Can a Toyota engine fly? Yes I rest my case....
  13. you think only Rolls Royce engines can fly?? think again ray. http://mojaveskies.blogspot.co.uk/2008/07/toyota-in-sky.html paragragh from this link "In the early 1990s, Toyota began working with Hamilton Standard to develop a twin-turbocharged aircraft engine derived from its four liter V8 Lexus engine. This project resulted in the FV2400-2TC, a 360-horsepower fuel injected engine equipped with Hamilton Standard FADEC engine controls. Such an engine is twice as powerful as the non-Toyota powerplant used in the TAA-1. The FV2400 received FAA type certification in February 1996 and production certification in July 1997" what have you learnt today ray?? a Toyota engine is good enough to fly to Cyprus and back and will do it in a smooth silky way whilst its at it :D
  14. That's what I meant by you comparing engine sizes/BHP etc etc. Basically you're saying that if one sticks a Toyota 'sport' engine in a Range Rover all is well and it'll do more MPH? yes stick the same IS300 engine i have in the Vougue add a turbo to give it a bit of tourqe to shift that weight from a stand and you will do 170MPH
  15. they are different cars and by Lexus books the IS250's should max out at 140mph. videos have proved this not to be the case. the IS300 bigger engine and lighter than the 250 is down as 143 had it at 147 and run out of road. your 4.4 V8 was not a toyota sport engine thats all am saying.
  16. haha ..i dont need to prove that in pics or recording ray...all you need to know is the younger brother IS250's with 500cc less and 204bhp thats 6bhp less than the 300 does 160mph on the speedo in stock form. and i can send you lots and lots of vids of IS250's doing this on the autobhan so the 300 will get there thank you very much.. ok based on the way you like to work out mph lets drop that figure down and that still translates to 150mph real land speed. so can the 300 get there with 500cc more and 6 bhp more under its belt?? YES it can and i was 3mph away from it but run out of road.. this is the legendary 2JZ block toyota engine we talking about here guys!!
  17. putting my point across does not necessarily mean i was provoked. I can keep my IS300 at a long constant speed of 150mph... try it in your IS and let us know if it manages to get there in the first place
  18. come on Youngiceman 'easily provoked' will be a strong word to use dude. if you trace back to the thread i never mentioned about my IS300's performance until Transporter brought it up and i had to jump on it. we all adults and this is meant to be banter and i love banter and a bit of a laugh along the way :D .. so no hard feelings everyone lifes too short.
  19. sorry Noby. Thanks ray that came in well handy for my profile pic :winky:
  20. Yes Martin handling did play a part in those faster time results of the GTR and LFA compared to the Enzo but that cannot only be the main factor. but to say thier lap times around the ring is pointless will be a big understatement. other parts do play a part aswell. and this was all i was trying to let matt , transporter and ray know bigger bhp figure or 0-60 figure does not always mean fast. and I think the mistake these dudes are making is dwelling on the 211bhp, 8.2 secs and 143mph the IS300 has stated in its book and using that as the true performance of the car. but I own the car and drive it everyday and encounter other guys with similar or slightly powerful cars who want to play when its safe to do so and the IS300 tells a different story as to the way it responds and picks up speed in gears when floored. so I wont be wrong if i call it fast car. Seeing as they're all very fast cars and the track is VERY long with countless corners then handling IS the deciding factor. Again this is abit of a pointless reference tho unless of course u race cars more powerful than urs around a track.....which u dont. Or u race like this on the streets? Which i hope u dont. So i can only assume u 'race' people in a more linear fashion i.e. Straight roads or motorway, in which case handling doesnt really come into it. In which case this boils down to bhp, power:weight, torque figures so theres no need for the track references. around a track, handling is a deciding factor for sure but certainly not the 100% deciding factor! obviously I dont race like that on the streets! the races are safe more linear as you confirmed mainly mways or straight roads with the occasional corner here and there. the track reference was more to point out to matt that some cars could sometimes punch above thier weights when it comes to performance compared to what thier book figure states and the IS300 is one of those. to the common man, an enzo Ferrari would be his/her choice if thier performance figures are put in front of them and asked which one is a faster car based on thier performance or bhp figures alone. and the story changes when these two cars are taken to the Nurburgring. is IS300 the fastest car in the world? No is IS300 a fast 150mph car? yes does IS300 beat similar engined both petrol and diesel or cars with similar or slightly more power than it? Yes it does so I am baffled by all this negativety about the IS300.
  21. This is what LOC is about Chris :winky:
