  1. Whatever name you want to call me matt, but would be nice to get it right for once wont it? and why would i ever need clinical psychology? infact clinical psychology will benefit you, tarnsporter and ray. coming up with 'i can put my car in any gear at any time' lol which they all agredd can be done.. like i said try matt try it at 90mph an see if it slots in and if you can drive off after that then 'yes you can' but if not then guess what? 'No you can't'.. make me laugh!! coming back to this thread i held my hand up and mention i got my predictions wrong and that the snow was not over yet. does that make me human? yes it does.. coming to Supra's just to clarify 98-2002 Supra's came in two forms one with a twin Turbos and one without the Turbos and if i say my car is a 4 doors Supra I am not on about the twin turbo version guys am on about the non-turbo version which has exactly the same drive trains and suspension type as an IS300 but just in a 4 door chasis and slightly raised ride height if this clears things up.
  2. Really :-) ?? OK will stay out of it now will let matt, transporter & buddy ray go on about how they love my 4 door Supra lol
  3. @ray haha me bluff every one?? internet helps me to find which ever information i want so sorry mister, thats not a bad thing. saves me from opening Haynes repair manuals. in a nut shell, DW suspensions are more superior when used in a car compared to MacPhersons struts. yes MacPhersons can be tuned to respond just like if not better than DW but any Sport oriented car engineer will go for DW over MacPhersons. both you, matt, transpoter and i wont even notice the difference between these two types of suspensions when driving on a daily basis. but the DW tends to come alive on the tracks and thats why most sports cars run them. i await your response on this ray. let me know if i missed anything. @matt boost your IS200 to 225bhp and we can put this situation to bed once and for all. am waiting for you in my auto 2JZ.
  4. @ray If Honda Accords wear double wishbone suspensions then guess what ray?? its not classifies as a family car. if in doubt click here to see a Honda Accord toying with a Subaru Impreza with AWD system. you can get any grippier than a Subaru.. see car novices like you need the word 'Sport' or 'BMW' to be printed on a car to make it obvious. Like i said if Accords wear double wishbones from factory don't mistake it for a family car. have i driven a MKIV Supra before?? Yes am driving one now in a 4 door chasis with slightly raised ride height. at the end on the day we can all come on a forumn and say we own or have driven a Supra, lambo, Ferrari, M5 etc and know one will know for sure so your question is really flawed from the start. @matt turbo IS200 with 225bhp i would consider now am asking you do you own one?? oh and regarding evidence , common sense should tell you you can get a mate to do the filming and not you . thought you was an intelligent boy matt?? @transpoter something productive from you will be appreciated big man.
  5. ray the car wears independent double wishbone suspensions front and back last time i checked double wishbone suspensions were not fitted to 'family' cars.
  6. @transporter I have a small family car?? since when was a litre sedan a small family car in UK?? I wanted something practical which drove and hadled like a sports coupe(Supra) and IS300 fits in perfectly and puts a smile on my face all the time.. @matt I wouldnt waste my fuel on a 155bhp car! any thing between 200bhp -300bhp i will consider. and even if i was pushed to teach an IS200 a lesson am sorry 5th gear will be enough. just to paint a picture for you matt, at 6000rpm, IS300 is still making 255NM(190lb ft) of torque from the engine.. so my overdrive gear can handle you. @Petay Hey Petay you gona share that pop corn :)
  7. ok your turn transporter and ray - and this is a simple question. why can the IS300 not be classified as a 4 door NA Supra if it shares almost all mechanical parts and goes liike one?
  8. haha Ray do some research before you start typing ok, IS300 shares the same engine and i mean, block, head, crank, pistons, con rods as 98-2000 NA Toyota Supra. so is it a 4 door Toyota Supra?? Yes it is?? @transporter 130000k miles is still nothing on a 2JZ block even though my engine has done less than that figure. Its a Toyota machine so they meant to see a minimum of 300,000 miles before they start falling apart if taking care of so not sure what you wanted to prove there but hey..
  9. havent made plans yet petay so should be able to make it in may.
  10. @transporter takes a lot to impress me ... so come off it @matt - never asked you to film i asked for evidence and yes my Auto can shift from 5th to 2nd if the ecu deems safe for it to do so if that answers your question.
  11. I want evidence it does matt you say your car can go in a ny gear at any time right? send us an evidence of you shifting to 2nd gear at 80mph its all am asking matt not much..
  12. matt try it at 80mph and let me know if it slots into 2nd gear for you - thats all am saying. and I am having Adult conversations OK. @transporter all you keep going on is cost cost and cost if its so much of an issue then drive another car buddy.
  13. @mikey - geez this guy must love my signature.. copy and paste it yours mikey No worries a dyno will give me that answer not you.
  14. @ matt you cannot select any gear at any time matt. dont beleive me?? hope in your car drive to 80mph and see if it will slot from 5th to 2nd gear. try this and let me know matt. and gearboxes and throttles work hand in hand pal. you cant have a car operating without those two. @mikey trace back to this thread and let me know who mentioned my IS300 first. grap a cuppa whilst you at it cus its a long one.
  15. @matt matt 400KG is a lot of weight and if you think am wrong, loose 400KG in your IS200 and let me know if you can accelrate and take corners faster than it is now. reason for having autoboxes is not cus peopl are lazy matt. let me give you and example. car A has manual box and cable control throtle system car B has a modern electronic conttrolled sport auto box and electronic control throttle system. now all things being equal, the sport auto box will shift smoother, be more effecient and will be faster than car A matt cus if both cars floored it in 1st gear, the throttle pedal can send signals to the electronic throttle system opening it faster than the old school cable operated throttle can react or open and whilst car A needs to lift off the throttle, cluth down, change gear and apply the throttle pedal again, car B wont have to lift off the throttle to change gears gearbox will select 2nd gear whilst the foot is still down car goes into 2nd gear automatically and guess what? the electronic trottle is already opened so 'flat spots' will be eliminated. yes matt 4th to second can be done in one move if the ECU deems it ok, the car will kick down from 4th or 5th instantley and like i said because its electronically controlled, throttle system will be opened instantly aswell. @transporter my auto IS300 returns preety much same mpg as your manual IS200. so guess what big man, i regard that as an efficient box. lets put cost aside, mordern autoboxes are rederring manual boxes useless.
  16. haha thign weigs 1500KG so its not a small car. a fiesta is a small car not a 1500kg four door car. there is no substitute for a manual gearbox?? thought we have already had this discussion in another thread transporter?? if manual boxes were soo good, why would all modern high performance cars come with an utomatic gerbox in some shape or form? be it tiptronic, SMG, DSG, semi-auto, CVT's and the likes?? read my lips again transporter.. mordern day automatic boxes are rendering manual gearboxes usesless when it comes to performance due to very intelligent ECU's and ETCS-i's? so gone are the days when autoboxes trailled behind manuals with regards to performance and mpg in fact most high performace cars automatic models retun better mpg and are faster to respond to the foot than manuals. in a nut shell a computer can react and select gears faster both upshifts and downshifts than you can clutch down. because the auto gearbox, engine and throttle pedal and sometime steering are all linked to each other Electronically
  17. Thank you Petay. the 3litre will struggle to shift that almost 2 ton weight of the LS
  18. Ray all your question have been answered and i do read posts carefuly. if you did own a 4.4 litre then why ask Lexus for a 3 litre LS then?? if you wasnt talking lexus down why bring up such a statement?? you could have just said 'Is Lexus not meant to be a Luxury brand' and i can answer you by saying 'Yes it is but the IS model was built with more sporty emphasis than Luxury'
  19. hang on a minute?? you sold an IS300 for IS200 because it was auto?? the IS300 is every thing IS200 sport and even more. in other words you seem to be the terminally baffled.. why get rif of something better for something not soo better. its not like the 300 wont handle like the IS200 sport and the IS200 will be outgunned even with the not soo good auto box as you claim.
  20. get the name right transporter.. you might need specsavers.. if you would like a manual then go ahead and build your self one using Supra/ Getrag gearbox with slight fabrications and be happy..
  21. Yes i did ray and gave you my answer. or should i repeat my self?? ok let me help you out buddy.. 6litre V12 will still be out gunned by 2JZ if power rating are made somewaht equal between both cars.
  22. you tried it you dont like it go back to BMW.. simples.. Lexus top range Toyota is still a good thing as we know our cars are built by one of the if not the largest automatovie company in the world. yes you heard that right...largest automotive company in the world so they have the budget to build any thing they want if they put thier minds to it which is a good thing. infatc I'm proud my car is built by Toyota.. is it wrong for Toyota to have a luxury brand?? I dont hear people like you saying Audi's and Bentleys are just Volkswagen's or Jaguars are just Fords and the list goes on. why should Lexus offer LS's in smaller engines for you?? either you can afford a bigger engine or you cant buddy. Have you heard of JD power ratings?? Lexus has dominated this for over 10years running both LS,GS,RX,IS's have all picked up awards now which awards has BMW picked up to cover a 10 year spree? log onto reliabilty index website, what car website and other car related websites ond Lexus/Toyota always comes higher. and if you forgot i owned a 97 520i so I have sat in and driven a BMW before my friend and was nothing special. Thread nedds to be locked becuase yourself, matt and tranporter dont have anything productive to say other than going on about my IS300 vs an M5 blah blah blah. its old and boring now guys lets move on. Yes Ray buy a 6 litre V12 and mine will still out perform it if our bhp power ratings are made equal. to make things a bit fair.
  23. @Transporter and matt - why dont you two just get an IS300 and make your self happy. go on you know you want one as all you can talk about is my IS300. dont know what the problem is, maybe envy?? i hope not as IS300's could be picked up for less than £3000 so its not Ferrari money. @Ray if you was such a hard core BMW man why didnt you replace your existing BMW with another BMW? you keep going on about how uncomfortable the IS is but IS's wasnt built with comfort in mind..GS and LS/s were and will be a fare comparison if you compared your 5 series to a GS300 SE. Lexus's will always be better built than a BMW and its fact. drive an E46 320i sport and come back to me as to which car is comfortable when compared to the IS200. quiet sad this thread is still going so mods please free to lock or close my thread if you wish.
  24. oh yeh tell me about it..had my drivers side wing mirror kicked in couple of months i got the car..dont know whats wrong with kids these days man.. they feel the need to vandalize cars they wish they owned!! best to park in a safer place mate.. regardinig servicing i personally buy the parts like filters and oil and have my local garage chage it over for me.. my service book dont even get stamped as its not classified as a service just oil filter change but i keep all my receipts for proof of work done when i come to sell the car on..a stamp wont add anymore value to our cars due to thier age but hey its your car and money and if you feel it deserves servicing at a Lexus garage then by all means use thier service mate.. ask them for the 2013 IS250 as a courtsey car on Wednesay you might get lucky..
