  1. Hi Michael, i was told the metal piping was for boosting(Turbo) dont ask what it does exactly as i have no idead at the moment but the 2JZ engine was primarily designed by Toyota with Turboing in mind. I have the same piping on mine too. and yeh best to turn on ignition wait for dash lights to go off before cranking. you are not alone with regards to the starting problems i get it from time to time and i think Panya on here does too. dont know if an ECU flash or upgrade will resolve it but to my knowledge, there are no records of Lexus recalling IS300's for these symtoms when the model was released in 2001 but i might be wrong. and even changing battery and spark plugs to Toyota ones wont cure it and i have already done these. I noticed a huge improvement after switching to high octane fuel and after running the fuel in for a day or two the car starts first time everytime regardless of how cold the weather is or how long the car has been left sitting. Panya also confirmed an improvement after switching to high octane stuff so that means i wasnt seeing things.
  2. yep time for testing it i guess :D
  3. I have inboxed you his number mate just in case you still looking.
  4. Unfortunately the heated mirrors on its own on ebay is like searcing for a needle in a hay stuck! I got a quote a while back from Lexus for about £250 for just the mirror..thought that was a bit too much for something to look at to see who's behind you or where you have just driven past..so i went for the cheaper stick on replacements off ebay as 24/7 spares wasnt helpful either but still worth giving them a shot. i must say the stick on's are doing a good job. I can message you a Lexus breaker based in Birmingham maybe he might just have a spare heated mirror for IS300. let me know!
  5. Nice example Michael its strange i didn't take to gunmetal grey IS's till i saw a grey IS200 valeted and thought grey colours are nice.. As Panya confirmed if its not on the drivers door sill pop your bonnet and check the chasis plate near the brake master cylinder to be honest that was where i found mine too.
  6. Chris you a nice guy mate and this is not about forming alliances its facts here mate
  7. i dont know any other to put this. is a conrod in a VVTi 2JZ-GE IS300 same as a conrod in a pre 98 Naturally Aspirated Supra non VVTi 2JZ-GE ? NO is a conrod in a VVTi 2JZ-GE IS300 same as a conrod in a 98-2002 Naturally Aspirated Supra VVTi 2JZ-GE? Yes Why?? because VVTi Technology rendered having a thicker conrod useless. have a lighter conrod and your engine will rev quickly due to loosing some pounds/weight. add VVTi to a lighter but still powerful conrod and your Torque delivery will widen through the rev range.
  8. No need to waste your time googling buddy will pop my bonnet open for you to take a picture then go to Toyota and compare the engine code i have in mine to the one under that of Supra NA and let us know if the engine codes differ.
  9. Dinho ask Toyota to give you an NA Auto Supra for the day and lets all see if my IS300 can not go like it... and like i said if it puts 5 car lengths on me? i will remove the 4 door Supra from my signature.. i think everyone can agree to this..
  10. matt i can answer but do i want to answer?? NO .... like i said give this thread a coffee break and a KitKat it really needs it.
  11. Give it a rest matt like i said buy one tomorrow if you want and make yourself happy buddy.. am enjoying mine its quick for any situation, relaible, and comfy, can i service it my self? yes so am more than happy with my choice. if you are happy then give it a rest if not get an IS300 or BMW like ray end off case closed.
  12. Yes transporter everyone could come on a forumn and say thay owned this and that.. i also owned a Nissan GTR but got rid of it due to having more speed and an auto box
  13. So as Ian confirmed its a better car as he has experienced both. Of to shower now bye bye for now
  14. After all said and done matt ray and transporter i drive a 2JZ IS300 and you don't hopefully all this is not down to envy as i confirmed they are not Ferrari money get one make yourselves happy and lets move on lol
  15. @transporter tell Haynes his car manuals are BS lol
  16. Yeh yeh like you don't . I can let you have a go in my Supra 4 door next time ok.
  17. You are a waste of space matt your project was simple undress your IS and let us see a crankshaft once you done put it back again .simples
  18. Oh you still have a week to bring in your project results lets see if you have an inch of a clue
  19. @transporter like i said one does not need to be a mechanic to know about cars and tuning information is readily available everywhere. Yes my mechanic mate has mouths to feed so he wont give his garage work space for free and since am not insured at his premises i cant work on my car there. Help me out here transporter does having lack of space mean i don't know a thing or two about cars tuning or how an engine works??
  20. Ok so now change it to context of mechanics right? I can still play this game and its an adult conversation. Ok let me see if you can remove your crankshaft and this time we all would like to see a video of you doing this from A to Z as you say you claim you are experienced and know how to undress any car right? It shouldn't be hard work for a guru like matt right? I also give you a week to send us a tape of you carrying out this easy procedure matt and once you done, put them all back together again.
  21. And i answered you by saying you CANNOT get your IS to make 200bhp . I dare you to prove me wrong matt
  22. See i don't need to be a mechanic to know how to service any car now can you solve mine?
