the ones you need re HID's i got these from rockauto and fitted them myself with the help of this guy.. one thing though is the driver side was a bit triky due to the air box so i had to remove the air box to give me some room to manoeuvre aligning the bulb into the housing sockets. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6319494&cc=1431834&jsn=2171&jsn=2171

im not sure but do Lexus OEM alarms not come with shock sensors built in and could the sensor sensitivity be increased at the dealers.. i do recall purchasing an alarm years ago for my fiesta zetec during my boy racer days due to me fitting quite expensive rims and pricey in car entertainment units.and that had shock sensors even by leaning on the car when alarm was activated was enough to trigger it.

welcome Greg, always loved the looks and stance of the MK2 GS Sport.. i think they are the best looking GS's than any other i did search for a long time when i was looking to get a MK2 GS in the same colour and interior combo but none was available a that time so i settled for a 430 in SE trim .. lets see some photos i think their classics 😊
-
I've only had mine a year and compared to the previous MK2 GS430, the boot is slightly smaller. the MK2 GS could swallow more grocery shopping or Ikea products than the MK3.. even the Accord i had seemed to have a larger boot than the MK3 GS for some strange reason. besides changing tyres and usual oil and filter service, ive had to replace the HID bulb, one 02 sensor, brake fluid, gearbox fluid and diff fluid. but these was more as a maintenance than anything.. had TPMS sensors replaced 3 weeks ago but ive been away from home sine then and back on Friday so will give it a drive round the block to see if the sensors are compatible as another member mention ours is a 433mhz not 315mhz sensor so will see how that goes. but all in all its been ok. touching wood..☺️
-
@Farqui now 3 years of ownership and i can see the 450 is certainly serving you well .. i did consider one before opting for the 300 as things like limited boot space and hybrid system kinda put me off but i might consider it again. do you find the boot space a hindrance or you have learnt to live with it overtime do you miss a big boot? and how abut the hybrid system in general? any issues since you've had it? PM me if and when you ready to sell as i might be interested. ☺️

ok i know he has been known to be a dodgy seller but i'll give him this one. at least he did mention the state of the car in the desription so in all fairness he's not trying to mislead "Simply due to age, miles & issues above she will be sold as Spares Repairs project donor car. I would strongly recommend this car to be recovered rather than driven away."

last time i checked the RC belonged to the Toyota New N Platform so does MK3IS and MK4GS so if the RC is put together using two models of the same platform are you then telling me it all of a sudden becomes a different platform? half of Platform N(MK4GS) + another half of Platform N(MK3IS) = you guessed it.. N i can understand if some chassis sections have been made more rigid and strengthened in the RC but a male and female chicken do not produce a dog. RC is not a special thing just an offspring of two platform N parents put together. so i dont understand the whole hoo-ha above.. -
if its Tyre pressure monitor sensors you need to replace, these are the ones you need. they only about £26 for the Denso(5500103) ones. I had TPMS issues, bought these Denso ones and had all 4 replaced about 3 weeks ago and it cleared the TPMS flashing light. would have set me back £350 for all 4 sensors if bought from Lexus stealer.. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/lexus,2006,gs300,3.0l+v6,1431834,wheel,tire+pressure+monitoring+system+(tpms)+sensor,12036

Don't you just like how the man is trying his utmost best to justify and "differentiate" when the RC is just a MK3 IS without the rear door... they share the same platform, they share the same interior and accessories but yet still i am made by Linas to think the RC is a special model on its own.. dude just give it time it might grow on ya! -

why buy a car which only ticks the box for looks and nothing else if you couldn't live with how its drives, mpg, gearbox shifting , engine sound etc etc?? clearly would the MK3 IS250 in F-Sport model not be the perfect compromise in term of still having an NA V6 with descent poke, handling dynamics, engine sound and still have the striking looks and interior layout of the RC? well! plus two more doors? this example here would have been a good compromise. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202001226444868?make=LEXUS&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&postcode=mk160ay&radius=1500&model=IS 250&sort=price-desc&colour=Black&advertising-location=at_cars&page=1 i'm not the one to tell a man how to spend his £££'s but £15,000 on a car just for its looks without enjoying anything else about it? i wouldn't mind an RC200t myself but what was the point of owning one if everything else about it was not up to your expectations.. -

considering the MK3 Lexus came with a V6 engine and shares the same platform as the RC... waste of £££'s if you ask me.. -
I might have to disagree. i think it does tick all boxes of what a Luxury car should be if one is not a badge snob. the interior has been thought out well without the need to place buttons and knobs at places just for the sake of it. it looks like a tank and if reliability is on par with Lexus, sensible car buyers may be swayed to try something different. but i know it will be a flop in UK/Europe as its not "German" so most wouldn't touch it.
-
definately looks handsome.. i think most will on the road will mistake it for a Bentley due to the grill design and emblem. looks well built and i like those alloy wheels. something different from the norm and if reliability is on par with Lexus i think most who may not be interested in German Luxury cars may be swayed.

With Toyota having the know how and actually one of the car manufactures to perfect the Hybrid drive train do you really think it will be a challenge to switch to a full EV drive train on thier cars? don't forget Tesla's main sales comes from the US with Europe and Asia being some what smaller sales targets. Toyota builds cars that can be used anywhere in the world be it the north pole to siberia to Africa so them stopping production and switching solely to EV cars will actually make them go bankrupt. at the moment, the infrastructure for getting everyone running EV cars is not there even in US and Europe as there are many members of the population who full EV cars will actually be an inconvenience rather than beneficial to their lives in terms of not having a charge points due to living in a flat or on street parking. let alone the rest of the world. also dont forget the power of oil companies mainly US oil companies and the "say" they have in US Gorverment policies. they will not allow full EV cars on the roads if it will not benefit or profit them so until they have also swapped oil for electricity, ICE cars will be around for a very long time.. but in all seriousness dont think its hard work for Toyota to switch to full EV they just do not make decisions based on US and Europe alone.

If you have had enough and not in "love" with it anymore then best to cut your loses and replace it but if you still have a soft spot for it then might aswell spend the £1000 + fixing the issues as you already "know" the car. even if say you replace it with another car(which will cost just as much), you may still end up spending on replacing a few bits and bops depending on how "new" it is. and we all know the "newer" the car, the more it costs upfront to purchase it which defeats the whole purpose of being economically viable as you are even spending more ££'s to buy it in the first place. so just weigh the pros and cons and go from there..
-
I currently experience this in my MK3 GS300 and had this same behaviour in my previous MK2 GS430 aswell.. both felt wallowy during high winds mainly on the motorway.. i have just learnt to keep speed moderate during high winds on the motorway.. my Accord or previous cars were sometimes wallowy during high winds as well but seems to be more noticeable in the GS's for some strange reason. not sure if the "soft cushy" setup of their suspensions is a contributing factor.

Looking at buying 'Sportiest' IS
noby76 replied to B80's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
but are you seriously comparing a 375bhp BMW to a 220bhp IS300h for straight line performance? ☺️ had Lexus drop in the GS450h's engine into the IS and boost battery power up a bit for a total of 375bhp then it can be somewhat fair to compare 340i to an IS hybrid. -

another rare compact sporty hybrid saloon to consider is the Infiniti Q50h. apparently hits 60 just shy under 5 secs -

question you need to ask your self is are you looking for a sports car or a luxury car with sporty capabilities? then narrow it down to hatchback, coupe, or saloon which of these 3 do you prefer? then narrow it down to fuel type, petrol , diesel or hybrid. does it have to me manual or auto? i think once you have ticked those boxes first then you can have an idea what to get. so say you looking for a sports car that hits 60 in around 6 secs or below, manual box, naturally aspirated then something like a Nissan 370 Z will do. if its luxury car with sporty performance be it petrol or diesel manual or auto and 6 secs 0 -60 then of curse you have plenty options from Audi, BM, Jaguar and Merc if its luxury performance hybrid you then GS450h. although 0 - 60 does sell cars and shows performance level of a car it does not tell all the story as some cars will have a quicker 0-60 but does not mean it will out accelerate another car with a slightly slower 0 to 60 in some gears. some cars may have 0 -60 of say 7 secs but their 40 to 70mph time is quicker than another car with a faster 0 - 60 time if you worried abut reliability on the German side then you can always budget £10k to 15k for the car and £5k to £8k on acquiring some form of warranty which covers everything for the number of years you are intending on keeping it instead of splashing the whole £25K on just the car. -
Twin turbo V8 engine on its way?
noby76 replied to B1RMA's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Toyota might as well use the V8 engine in the LS600h? its powerful enough unless it will not meet emissions standards... https://blog.lexus.co.uk/tmg-sports-650-takes-a-bow/ -
i dont think the machines charges for checking the tyre pressure with the nozzle. it only charges for pumping. at 0.50 pence per visit it will take around 350 trips to the tyre machine in order to break even with the initial investment cost of £175. if you visit once a week you will need 350 weeks which is almost 7 years for initial cost to start paying for itself. thing is you will still have to pay 50 pence to get your tyres pumped when the TPMS - Display informs you there is low tyre pressure on one of the tyres anyway ☺️ . in my opinion, the initial cost out weighs the benefit ratio but that's me..
-
just check your tyres once every week or 2nd week at the filling station and if any is low, the tyre pump machine will tell you.. cost for checking your tyre pressure at the filling station? FREE 😊
