  1. tell me about it Chris I need some tips from Stuart... Hey Stuart help us out here! what's the secret? :)
  2. dude drives in snow mode 24/7 and I bet he doesn't exceed 40mph on a 60mph road to get those figures lol. anyway 10 miles motorway and 5 mile townish should give around the 29mpg mark. I get 30-33 mpg on a 25 mile commute to work. 5 miles town and 20 miles motorway and its a 1000cc more..put my foot down more and the whole tank will average only 25mpg . you can also try resetting your ECU after your fill up as the ECU might still have logs of the previous owners driving style compared to yours. disconnect your negative battery terminal reconnect it after about 15 - 20mins and ECU has been reset.
  3. Welcome to the club Matt.. a petrol head does not worry about MPG :) .. ok jokes aside if you tend to drive mostly in town with lots of start stops then expect around only low 20's mpg even worse if you put your foot down more.. the 29mpg stated is a combination of both motorway and town driving so if around 50% of your driving does not involve driving on motorway or open road were 6th gear comes into play then am sorry you will not see 29mpg. things like tyre pressure also do help so worth checking your tyre pressure Lexus recommends between 33 -35 psi all round. clean air filter and quality engines oils also does improve combustion efficiency so make so worth getting the air filter changed and using the recommended SAE 5W-30 engine oils some do have additives which reduces internal friction which causing the engine to run more efficiently resulting in less fuel consumption so will recommend those brands. couple of guys on here have also confirmed they get not so good mpg when they use supermarket fuels so try some branded fuels to see if it makes a difference.
  4. mods, I think someone is trying to hijack a thread here to get some attention..don't come on here trying to get some attention if you aint getting it at home Trainspotter
  5. that's Maestro's conversion http://my.is/forums/f219/project-maestro2jz-altezza-2jz-swap-431544/ brads IS400 sportcorss conversion. http://home.roadrunner.com/~bedellracing/v8swap/ http://home.roadrunner.com/~bedellracing/v8swap/v8lexusfaq.html all from http://my.is/ lexus forum. good luck These ebay guys below deal in soley jap engines so there might be Nissan RB26's available if you fancy. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-ARISTO-2JZ-GTE-VVTI-ENGINE-/251309135342?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a833115ee 3UZ which are said to be better in giving flat torque curves than 1UZ's V8 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS430-GS430-SC430-4-3-3UZ-FE-VVTI-PETROL-ENGINE-/251025776851?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a724d60d3
  6. 2JZ-GTE has forged rods and forged pistons from factory and makes a detuned 320bhp that will take the hassle off you playing with internals. source one of these engines and supra transmission and ECU and you are on your way. for lazy V8 power, cant beat the 1UZ's for low down torque lots of guys in US have this conversion done.
  7. get a 300 if tiptronic is not an issue. 90% of the time i dont miss a manual box only 1st to 2nd launch on hard acceleration is quite sluggish.
  8. a supercharger will solve your problem.
  9. @Normski didnt know Chichester was that popular? maybe i should go sight seeing there one day too.. @Argento yeh the F-Sports really looks nice and might def get one once the price is within my budget for now i might just book a test drive to experience it. maybe GS300 SE-L next for me i suppose. :)
  10. stop over at a Lexus dealer near Chichester and you would have seen one. :winky: .. the 2014 model is still new so might take some time before we start seeing them on the roads but saying that I was lucky to see one a couple of weeks ago was pulling into a petrol station and the driver was just driving out so only managed to catch a glimpse of it.
  11. still waiting for my pizza hut delivery to turn up to watch my movie with. let me help you out matt. this is my quote from post #51 'i do love my car and if it was stolen then i would want the police to do thier job to get my car back but if human life and public property if being put at risk and being damaged due to a result of this then the police has to call the chase off to protect further properties from being damaged.' in other words I am happy for the police to pursue my stolen car but if human life and public property is being damaged due to the chase then it can be called off with me knowing the police did everything in thier power to recover my vehicle. I will be happy knowing a human life somewhere and thats including the police life was saved that night and who knows maybe10 other properties be it cars or shops were saved that night due to the chase being called off after the police did thier atmost best to recover my vehicle but deemed it too risky to pursue further due to circumstances and obstacles.
  12. read my lips aagain matt. the police are not immune from forking out repair bills to society if they are deemed at fault. my sister had Insurance which covers her property incase of fire, items damage and loss but she did not go through her insurance as per my advise, took it up with the police directly and they repaired her property. Stevlee might or might not have his car repaired by the police/council all depending on what advise he would get from citizens advise. it was another option i proposed to him and who knows if he had come out succesful with the council/police, it wouldnt have taken him four months wait to have his car repaired and his insurance premiums would have also been intact. any way i dont see the point of debating with you matt the dude has had his car repaired and he's happy and i am happy for him. off to watch fast and furious 6. Good night matt..
  13. you talk a lot of BS matt. i do love my car and if it was stolen then i would want the police to do thier job to get my car back but if human life and public property if being put at risk and being damaged due to a result of this then the police has to call the chase off to protect further properties from being damaged. go back and read this thread all over again and point out where i used the word 'Sue the police' i never asked stevlee to sue i asked him to enquire about who forks out the repair bills for his car. there is a big difference between 'sue' which involves going to court and being actioned by a Judge and forking out repair bills which involves coming out of a 'budget' which both the council/Police dept have in case if such situations arise. Thought you were a smart boy.
  14. yes i know you have not read a law book in your life before. prove me wrong on this matt. can the public claim from the police dept or local council if they are deemed at fault? Yes. Three years ago my sister claimed damages from the Police/council due to them breaking her front door. they were looking to make an arrest and totally got the street name wrong on the arrest warranty and smashed her door in only to find out the street name they had was wrong now my sister has a home insurance which covers everything from fire to accidental damages and Item loss but I advised her not to claim from her insurance which she could have, but rather go to the police station make a statement and speak directly to one of the inpectors as to what has just taken place at her house. the inspector confirmed they were at fault, the police paid to have her and kids housed in a hotel for 2weeks with all meals paid for whilst her home was sealed off and they paid to have a new door and locks fitted after 2 weeks. I know your next post will say oh your sisters issue is different from that of stevlee's but what I am trying to drum into your head is, its not immoral to claim from the police if they happend to influence a situation which results in loss of life or loss/damage of pulic property. So dont think the police are immune from being held accountable. they are public servants at the end of the day and any thing they do should be in favour of protecting life and property and not the other way round becuse they wanted to catch the bad guy. Yes Iam not a qualified Lawyer by profession hence i suggested for Stevlee to speak to citezens advice or his local council for more information as to where he stands. And I am very well educated thank you.
  15. those are 19" wheels if am not mistaken. anything more might spoil the handling I recon.
  16. the market is now moving to smaller displacement turbo engines. new BMW's are all small 4 cylinder turbo charged engines. the latest M5 is a v8 turbo compared to the older V10 monsters same as the RS6 Audi's they have ditched the 5.0 V10 for a 4 litre V8 twin turbo so as you can see the market is now downsizing due to emission regulations and the need for more fuel efficient performance cars. . if Nissan can squeeze around 550bhp from a 3.8 V6 turbo why try to do it using a 6.3 litre NA or twin turbo? which comes with added engine weight? I know 'there is no replacement for displacement' but modern technology like variable valve timing, direct injection, efficient gearboxes and suspension tuning is allowing smaller displacement engines to replace bigger displacement ones. even the new F1 engines will be using 1.6 litre engines which can still make 750bhp it wont sound like the V8's or V10's but it will race like one for sure.
  17. Good you sorted it out in the end stevlee. @matt No point getting into a discussion with someone who has not read law in his life. So before you start ranting your usual BS i suggest you read some law books first. I have.
  18. Yeh most always think performance of a car solely lies on high bhp output but forget to invest and tweak things like brakes, better tyres and most important suspension setup. I personally recon 420bhp is more than enough power one will need on our roads or on a racetrack unless one wants to build for professional drifting or straight line quater mile runs or top speed runs. Bilsteins are said by many tuners to be ace but are quite pricey. Hey good luck with the search and don't forget to post some pics of the beast and the mods.
  19. Sure makes perfect sense. I know car manufacturers compromise a little if not a lot with regards to the way they design intakes and exhausts to pass emission and sound laws and also to make the car drivable and bearable for daily driving and these mods are there to make the engine more breathable at the top section of the rev range and all will depend on engine design and ecu mapping of course and i recon there is some bhp waiting to be unleashed in the IS-Fs for sure waiting to see what you do with it once you get it. :-)
  20. my guess... it will be 3.5litre V6 engine from the IS350 but with twin turbos strapped to it.. power figures 420- 450bhp.. similar concept to what Nissan did with GTR but in their case was a 3.8litre V6
  21. nice write up Neil.. thing with all this is, are modern ECU's not meant to overwrite any new performance parameters gained from bolt on performance parts like intake and exhaust after 100's of miles of driving unless the ECU has been remapped to permanently accept the mods due to their intelligence? I might be wrong on this though.. Lexus vehicles for one all have locked ECU performance parameters on their vehicles.
