  1. I occasionally get this 'problem'. See thread I raised last year: When it starts to happen I just brake heavily a couple of times when pulling off the motorway on the slip road. Seems to last a couple of months,
  2. One of my pet hates is blanks instead of buttons. A constant reminder that you haven't got the best spec!
  3. To be honest I rarely hear how quiet it is due to the quality of the ML system!
  4. Interesting but I'm not sure how reliable this data is. I love the quietness of my GS, but quieter than a Rolls???
  5. I had mine replaced by National Windscreens last year. When I contacted my insurance company they said it would be replaced by a Pilkington one as they apparently make them for Lexus. However, when the guy came to fit it it was genuine Lexus with the logo etched in the bottom left corner. The only difference is that it doesn't have the VIN number on it. As for the auto wipers they work better now than before!
  6. My wife finds it strange that I can hear every buzz, rattle, creak or squeak in a car, no matter how quiet, yet I sometimes can't hear what she's saying!
  7. Wives in cars. There's a thread that would run and run......... My wife never hears any noises in the car but that's maybe because she never stops telling me how to drive!
  8. My brake light comes on with the lightest of touches even before any actual braking takes place. I find it really useful when someone is tailgating me. A slight touch with my left foot sure puts the willies up them with no risk of a rear ending!
  9. Meant in it not with it before I get banned from this club!
  10. Thanks John. Guess I'd better leave my ballasts alone!
  11. Previous Cars: Austin 1300 Estate (Lovely first car, learnt mechanics and s*x with it. Wrote it off.) Morris Marina 1300 coupe (The biggest pile of ******* ever conceived in the name of motoring! Handled so badly that if you went round a corner too fast the back end literally jumped. Think I spent more time fixing it than actually driving it.) Vanden Plas 1300 (Absolutely delightful car. Totally reliable. When I sent it to St. Peter I kept the front seats as they were so comfy.) Ford Escort 1300 2dr Mk 1 (Bright orange and just did the job with limited excitement.) Ford Escort XR3 (Loved this one but was disappointed with the handling. Found out it was a cut and shut!) VW Golf GTi Mk 1 (Absolutely brilliant car and great fun to drive. Learnt how to ‘drive’ properly in this.) Ford Cortina 1600 Mk 4 (Practical commuter) Austin Allegro (don’t ask but better than the Marina!) Landrover Defender 110 (Was living in the Thar Desert at the time and couldn’t have wished for a more suitable motor. Noisy and terrible on the road though.) Mitsubishi Pajero (Was living in the mountains of Pakistan with this one and it never let me down mechanically and always got me to my destination in difficult terrain.) Toyota Hi Lux (Still up in the mountains and need a pick up. Battered and rusty but bomb proof.) Ford Fiesta 1300 Mk 1 (Bought for £250 in 1996 and did everything asked of it albeit slowly.) Ford Fiesta 1.25 Mk 4 (Did everything asked of it but less slowly.) Ford Orion 1600 Mk 1 (Liked this but don’t know why. Quite unmemorable.) Ford Mondeo 1.8 Mk 2 (Liked this but don’t know why. Quite unmemorable but it did handle well.) Honda Accord 2.0 Fifth Gen (My first taste of a little luxury and gadgets but boring.) Volvo V40 1800 Estate (Best seats ever. Dare I say it but more comfortable than the GS!) Lexus IS 220d (Loved this car. Did 80,000 trouble free miles in this all over the UK and Europe) Current Cars: Honda Jazz First Generation (Don’t laugh. Brilliant at what it does and what we ask of it. Totally reliable.) Lexus GS 300h (The best car I’ve owned.)
  12. Not to be pedantic Bernard but I's say it was probably the last one in 2017!
  13. At the risk of sounding ignorant John what are the ballasts?
  14. My 2014 Premier has rear blinds, entertainment controls in the rear armrest and HUD. It doesn't have LKA or heater steering wheel or night vision. I think those were options that the tight fisted previous owner never put on my car! I also have 18 way adjustable front seats both with memory and ottoman thingy on the passenger side which I think was standard.
  15. Was driving into work this morning, having not used the car for a while, and noticed a strange bongo like sound which I’d not noticed before. At first it sounded like it was coming from the nearside front but after a while it seemed to be coming from the offside rear. All very confusing. It appeared to be either suspension or brake related and wondered if I had a seized calliper or two having not used the car for almost two weeks. Was getting a bit concerned at this stage so slowed down in the inside lane of the motorway and turned the stereo off to try and identify exactly where it was coming from but it seemed to have disappeared and thought maybe it’s speed related. Accelerated up to 80 in the outside lane and it definitely seemed to have gone. Ah well, I thought maybe it’s sorted itself out so put the music back on and it reappeared. Turned out it was actual bongos! Thanks Mark Levinson. Was listening to the low spark of high heeled boys by traffic and could heat a level of detail I’d not heard before. Love this car!
  16. I had a mesa red IS and now a crimson red GS. They both look the same to me!
  17. I think it may be car/model specific rather than manufacurer as I have no problems with my GS.
  18. The best thing about Amazon!
  19. I drop her off at the door (my wife that is, not yours!) and then go and park. A compromise that she is happy with. Also, by the time I've parked she's already started the shopping which reduces my time in the shop!
  20. My meths days are well and truly over. Prefer a glass of port these days!
  21. That's interesting. However, I'd rather drink my IPA than clean my wipers with it!
  22. Mine's set to 7 which I think is perfect for motorway use and for lane changes at roundabouts. I tried 5 but if often stopped before I had chance to finish the manoeuvre. Cannot understand why 3 is the default. Finishes before even starting the manoeuvre.
  23. Personally I don't like using the stiff as I think it's bad for the environment and I recall reading somewhere that it can be bad for the wiper rubbers. That in itself isn't a problem but I do wonder that if it's bad for the wiper rubbers what's it doing to the window seals?
  24. That sounds like a waste of a good beer to me!
