  1. Um, maybe. Need to take it to the dealer as still under warranty. When I mentioned it last year they couldn't find a fault. Happened a couple of times on way home from work too so has become more of an issue. Do these sort of things show up on the diagnostic codes?
  2. Have experienced a strange thing with my wipers. It happened once last year but three times this morning in torrential rain which is quite scary. My wipers stopped working in mid flow. The only way to get them going again is to put them briefly on full speed. Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea what the problem may be?
  3. It's the same on my GS and when the door's closed and window slightly open it drips right onto the window/mirror controls!
  4. That entirely makes sense John. It also makes sense that it's worse in cold weather when the tyres are stiffer with less natural give in them. My main concern is whether that vibrating/juddering is putting excessive stresses on the suspension or steering geometry?
  5. Thanks for the update. I guess I just have to put up with it then!
  6. Hi Philip, If by Southampton you mean Hedge End then I can vouch for them. They do all my servicing and on the few occasions I've had any problems with my car they have sorted things out very well and given me a loan car. Alan
  7. That's interesting and makes sense. Why doesn't the handbook mention useful things like this???
  8. Said the actress to the bishop!
  9. Apparently my GS has semi-analine leather whereas my old IS had 'ordinary' leather. Can the same product be used on both?
  10. The high beam doesn't appear to move. You can see the lights move within this when driving.
  11. Does anyone know how my head lights work? I’m a bit confused. Every other car I’ve had as has two bulbs - one for the main beam and one for the dipped. On my GS I can only see one big bulb. So, how do I get dipped and main from this bulb and how do my dipped beams turn into corners whilst main is still pointing ahead? Am I missing something obvious?
  12. I agree. The problems found on the IS220D will be found on any modern diesel. It's to do with all the stuff they put on it to satisfy emissions regulation. Diesel BMWs, Mecrs, Audis etc all face the same problem. I bet not many of them reach 180,000 miles!
  13. Keep us updated. I'd be interested to know what they say. Mine seems to be getting worse lately.
  14. Probably no reason at all apart from stupidity! The one thing that really annoys be on this car is the lack of TA button on the dash, which I had on my IS. Generally I don't have it on as it interrupts my listening pleasure but occasionally I like to use if coming up to slow moving traffic to see what the hold up and possible length of delay may be. In the IS I simply pressed a button on the dash to turn it on and then again to turn it off after I've heard about my bit of road. Bu no, not on the GS. I have to go into radio settings to select it. To do this takes a couple of menus and more than a couple of clicks! Not only is this irritating it also forces me to take my eyes of the road. Who thought that a good idea?????
  15. Maybe, but it appears to be something on the RX that can be adjusted via the settings menu on the steering wheel. That's much more sensible.
  16. Just found it. Who in their right mind thought that that would be a good place to put it?
  17. Thanks Jay, will take a look tomorrow. What a stupid design!
  18. Thanks but that looks different from mine. Found this in my manual but can't find the button. I know I have AFS because my lights turn and I have a warming light on my dash when I power up!
  19. Hi all, Does any one know how to turn off my Intelligent Adaptive Front-lighting System (I-AFS)? I was reading on the RX forum about driving in Europe and the advice is that we do not need those sticky plastic things on the head lights as we have a flat beam but they also advise to turn off the I-AFS. I can see nothing in my handbook and a quick search on the interweb shows how to do in on the RX (via the steering wheel settings). However, it doesn't appear in my settings menu. Any thoughts? Thanks, Alan
  20. Yes, we share the driving. I drive to the pub and she drives home! Parking on the drive? - how dare you!
  21. Tis a shame though that I can't afford a driver to appreciate it!
