  1. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/lexus-will-stop-gs-sedan-production-for-europe-next-month-124597.html
  2. I think it's been darkened to look less pinkish!
  3. Just been out for a spin in mine. Not literally, even though it is RWD!
  4. I passed a pound shop the other day which had a 50% sale on, so maybe 50p now!
  5. I have a feeling that this thread may have drifted a tad off topic. I love my GS as it's a comfy relaxing cruiser with quality materials. As I'm not a boy racer I never get anywhere near the limit to really differentiate the qualities of RWD versus FWD handling. If the new ES matches my GS in terms of quality and comfort and quietness I'd be interested in one. I think it's a good looking car and apart from a couple if things in the interior that I don't like it's ok by me.
  6. Before you delete it could you share it with us?
  7. Two years. They have deal on at the moment two years for just over a grand. You only pay the instalments for one year.
  8. I also like the fact that the roadside assistance covers me any wife in the Lexus and also both of us in other cars even if we're passengers. The claims I made on my IS far outweighed the cost. I feel it's like any insurance - you hope you never need it but glad it's there if you do.
  9. I had the same problem. May try the cocktail stick idea next time. Sounds like a good idea.
  10. It was an extended warranty when I bought the car. It was three years old and had just run out of original warranty.
  11. Mine has a hold function which applies the handbrake when I come to a stop but unfortunately the brake lights stay on.
  12. I had two rear shocks replaced under warranty last year. Took it in for a service and they told me they'd replaced them and one was leaking slightly. I didn't even know I had a problem. It was the experience with my IS that led me to purchase it. There was never any questions about the claims I made for that so it seems to be a good warranty. Have heard of other manufacturers trying all sorts of tricks to get out of paying up!
  13. I agree. Have driven quite a few as courtesy cars and pottering around town it's a great car. It's actually quite fun on windy b roads but hated it on fast a roads and motorways. The biggest problem for me as a second car is its lack of practicality. Our old Honda jazz beats it hands down for local shopping and trips to the dump.
  14. To be honest I'm more worried about electrical gremlins. Had to scrap a beloved Volvo once due to repairs to the air con/heating system costing about three times the value of the car. It was ten years old though! With regards to mechanical issues I've read that shocks can be an issue especially the adaptive ones I've got and gather they're not cheap.
  15. Hi all, Have just bought an extended warranty. Two years for £1095. Was in a dilemma as the GS appears to be quite reliable. The warranty on my old IS220d was invaluable thanks to the known problems of that one, most of which I experienced! The warranty comes with roadside assistance which covers me and t'missus on any other car which we are driving or passenger in. I hope I don't need the warranty but figure that if we do have a problem it's likely to be expensive. Has any MK4 GS owner had warranty claims or expensive repairs? Am trying to justify the cost!
  16. The XE is interesting. I was thinking of one as a replacement for my MK2 IS as think it looks better than the MK3 IS which I find too fussy. Had an XE as a courtesy car a while back and it was the interior quality which really let it down. I've always wondered why the exterior looks are so important though as when driving it I can't see what it looks like outside so put my importance on the interior. Hence getting a GS. There is no accounting for taste!
  17. I agree. I don't know why they don't offer an IS450h.
  18. Please share your technique. Am sure loads of folk on here will be interested. Me included.
  19. I originally started using autoglym srp as I thought it was an abrasive but subsequently discovered that it is a silicone based filler rather than an abrasive polish. This detailing malarkey is more complicated than I thought. Sometimes I feel it would be great to go back to my early motoring days when having a car which had all panels the same colour was something I strived for!
  20. Thanks. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the wax won't adhere to the polish.
  21. I've just got some bilt hamber double speed wax. I've also just polished my car with autoglym super resin polish. Is it ok to use the wax after the polish?
  22. Find a red IS!
  23. Fair enough gov. I like to play devils advocate at times but was beginning to feel this thread was becoming too personal and vindictive. Don't worry, if it turns out to be good I'll remind you of your words! 😉
