  1. You're lucky yours recognises FM channels. Mine doesn't seem to recognise me!
  2. I can recommend semi retirement. Spent 8 years commuting on the M27 and don't miss it at all!
  3. Should be easy during rush hour as the traffic will be traveling slowly enough for a wave and a chat. Especially once the road works start to turn the M27 into a 'smart' motorway!
  4. I agree with Colin. I had the problem you mention in my mk2 IS but the GS I now have works perfectly.
  5. According to a French friend of my the law currently is that you don't need the breathalyser and won't get fined if you don't have one. However, if you have one and it's out of date you can get fined. How very French! With regards to bulbs I carry a cheap set of mixed bulbs (none of which fit my Lexus) which I bought from Halfords. They have served me well for years!
  6. That's interesting. I thought there were laws against that!
  7. From my experience the Lexus warranty is pretty comprehensive and the only things that are excluded are normal wear and tear items. Also I believe that you don't have to have services carried out by Lexus but they have to be to Lexus standards using original parts. I'm actually happy with Lexus servicing. I am confident it's being done well and I always get a courtesy car usually an IS or NX more recently. I've had plenty of RX's too and have only had a CT when I've booked it in close to when I want it done. When I had an MOT done recently they let me play with a new LS!
  8. Not sure if this is relevant or related but I had a situation where I couldn't seem to stop smoothly and at low speeds it felt as if the brakes were juddering or the abs was kicking in. Thanks to the suggestion of another member on here I did a couple of heavy braking from high speed which solved the problem.
  9. On my IS I was told that a new passenger seat would cost about £5000 had they not managed to fix it. Hate to think what the cost of my GS seat would be.! Even though Lexus has a wonderful reputation for reliability, things can fail or go wrong. Peace of mind helps me knowing I'm not going to be hit with a sudden high cost which I may not be able to afford. Had to scrap a perfectly decent Volvo once because the repair to the Aircon system was more than the car was worth. My experience with Lexus warranty with my old IS was amazing. They never queried any claim which differs from my experience with car and house insurances. Each to their own but I guess it depends on how much of a gambler one is.
  10. I had one on my IS220d and it paid for itself. Have one on my GS more for peace of mind and the excellent roadside assistance. Hope I don't need to use it like all insurances. If you're getting a 2016 model I'd see how it goes over the next couple of years before making a decision.
  11. I agree. Not only do they look tacky they're also not so practical. The sport knob on my GS is situated perfectly near my left arm and easy to operate quickly without looking. For me the horn is just a tad out of reach meaning I have to take my hand off the wheel to use. Not that ergonomic. Reminds me of the indicator switch on the Citroen CX.
  12. After about four minutes it automatically applies the handbrake. Surely that then creates the problem that you say shouldn't be done. Very confusing. I'm sure Lexus must have thought of that!
  13. I have a 'hold' function on mine which means I can take my foot off the foot brake whilst leaving it in D. I guess that must be an automatic foot brake rather than applying the hand brake. Will have to look at the energy meter next time I use it.
  14. Out of principal I wouldn't give him my money!
  15. Depends on which wheels are driven! I believe the robin is rwd and the meßurSchmitt is fwd. At least neither can be 4wd!
  16. I imagine that the HS is one size bigger than a GS! 😉
  17. I originally was planning on getting a IS300h but took a drive in the GS and it knocks spots off the is. Not the most practical of cars but a sublime relaxing cruiser. Have done a few European tours in it and couldn't ask for more.
  18. I had a Mesa red is and now have a GS which apparently is not Mesa red but looks exactly like my IS colour. To my eyes the best colour Lexus do. Even if it may look pink under certain light conditions!
