  1. Three years ago I was planning on upgrading my IS220d with an IS300h but took a GS300h for a test drive. Was smitten and haven't looked back. This is a keeper as I can't think of anything else I would rather have!
  2. Welcome to the new club!
  3. I just press the next track button on the steering wheel if one comes on twice.
  4. I retired at 58, moved to the country with an acre of land and have never been so busy. My only regret is not doing it earlier! I guess you have to enjoy gardening but the pleasure it brings is immense. My guitars keep me busy during winter months!
  5. Lovely car but was disappointed with some of the interior trim quality. Was thinking of getting one to replace my GS but have decided not to. The es felt like an upgraded is whereas the GS feels like a downgraded Ls!
  6. It is under your nose! It should be on a sticker inside the drivers door panel at the back. Happy hunting!
  7. Am glad that us chauffeurs can disable the audio controls. A nightmare with kids in the back!
  8. Thanks. Took about 6 hours. Was covered in typical rural type filth before. Unfortunately at the moment can't really enjoy driving it but can enjoy looking at it at least!
  9. Also, despite the complexities of cars today they are generally more reliable. 30 odd years ago much of my weekends were spent adjusting tappets or points or topping up some fluid or other. Not to mention dealing with some kind of rust spot. I don't think there's any conspiracy against independent mechanics it's just that cars ( and many other products) are designed in such a way to improve efficiency of production rather than maintenance. The current capitalistic system depends upon us replacing rather than repairing.
  10. I've tried various tyres and found that they all depend on wear. Some have been quiet when new but are significantly louder as they wear whereas some don't change throughout their life. I've given up trying to find the golden egg and rely on the infotainment volume control to to rid any annoyance!
  11. I think perspective is required here! https://www.spectator.co.uk/2020/02/the-most-dangerous-thing-about-coronavirus-is-the-hysteria/
  12. Have you thought about a GS? The quietest and most comfortable car I've owned.
  13. Thanks for all the comments. I think I might go for it. Peace of mind is a great thing!
  14. Thanks Shahpor good to know you've had no problems.
  15. Hi oliesgrandad, thanks. 1. Good point. 2. Surely this doesn't include consumables. 3. My dilemma, but it's supposedly a reliable car! 4. Interesting, I didn't know that. Not written in my terms and conditions. I really appreciate your thoughts as I know that it is just an insurance policy which I hope I won't use so am interested if anyone with similar vehicles have had any problems. If yes then it's a no brainer, but if not then I need to way up the risks against peace of mind. I fancy a new guitar but can't afford that and the warranty!
  16. Thanks. The offer is for £91.25 per month for 12 months then nothing for the second year. I had a warranty claim for drivers seat on my previous IS for a dodgy drivers seat which would have cost around £5,000 had I bought a new seat myself. Hence my concern about seats!
  17. Hi all, bought my 2014my GS300h nearly three years ago and after the first year warranty took out the extended warranty for two extra years which runs out in April. The only warranty claim I had was for wiper relays. I have just received a letter asking if I want to extend for a further two years for £1095. I am in a dilemma about what to do. The first couple of years I was averaging about 15,000 miles per year but due to early retirement now do about half this. It's currently on circa 62,000 miles. My main concern is the internal electronics such as seats etc. I have the premier which has loads of complicated stuff inside. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has a similar vehicle with higher mileage than mine with regards to the reliability of such things. I'm not too worried about the mechanical aspects. Thanks.
  18. With the GS it was specific to the premier grade so maybe takumi only on ES.
  19. I think driving style has more of an impact on fuel consumption than anything else. We moved to rural Lincolnshire about 18 months ago. Initially I was getting about 38 mpg as I didn't know the roads. Now that I know where all the tight bends are and slow down in preparation without braking late our consumption has increased to about 44.
  20. If the flood water was to blame shouldn't hybrids come with a warning not to drive through fords?
  21. This is correct. It shows that the airbag is in operation. If you disable it to put a child seat in the light will go out.
