I don’t want to be controversial (or do I?) but I think the 2014 GS300h premier, despite its lack of speed) is the best Lexus!

I used to work for British rail engineering and we always used a product made by belzona. Would highly recommend. Used it to repair cracks in huge great Diesel engines.

I think cars are now showing too much information. I prefer to concentrate on what’s going on outside the car whilst driving. Thanks to my hud I rarely look at the dashboard these days. My hud is set to speed only which is all I need to know whilst driving.

Where I live the potholes are so bad that it negates the need for speed bumps to slow traffic down!

Sorry Linas but if you didn’t occasionally come up with some words of wisdom I’d think you were a troll! Not everyone wants to drive around like a lunatic and is happy to just cruise and enjoy the serenity and peaceful luxury of their chosen carriage. There is more to a car than ‘speed’. Objectively the 450h is ‘better’ on paper. However, subjectively the 300h suits many. You have the right to your opinion as do I. Neither of us is right or wrong. If you want a kick up the back leaving traffic lights then go for the 450h but if you want to have a lovely relaxing drive then the 300h is perfect. Horses for courses! With respect to the other options my opinion is that the Lexus feels better inside which is my subjective opinion. I am also sure it will last longer. Whether the op wants something that will last or wants something for the short term the decision should be made on their subjectivity. Both the others may indeed be faster, or better ‘on the limit’ but how many of us want that or have the opportunity to safely explore it? The best way to buy a car is to test drive it and see if it suits your requirements. Longevity is a different matter and well worth discussing with owners to see how vehicles last in the long run and are fit for ones purpose.

I agree with johnatg. I also have a 2014 GS 300h premier and love it. Performance is more than adequate for my taste. It is after all a luxury cruiser not a sports car. In sport+ Mode there is more than enough acceleration for overtaking. It’s economical, I have averaged about 46 mpg over the 4 years I’ve owned it. Not had any faults on it either. Have used it for a few European touring holidays and never felt it inadequate and always feel refreshed after a long run. The seats are perfect for my aging back! My wife also loves being a passenger too. In all our previous cars she always wanted to do a bit of driving because she got restless and had to keep adjusting her seat. In the GS she just loves a sleep!

My handbook says to use normal mode for normal driving but eco mode in stop/start traffic. Which makes sense as it uses the battery more improving fuel consumption in town traffic.

Thanks all. I will not be using the Lexus to jump start the Jazz. I have a small battery charger which came with my lawn tractor. The battery in that is 12V, 18Ah and 200A EN. The Jazz battery is 12V, 33Ah and 270A EN. Could I use the lawn tractor charger to charge the Jazz battery? Sorry for my ignorance but I don’t really understand electricity!

We have an old Honda jazz and a Lexus GS300h. Due to lockdown neither have been used regularly. Took my eye off the ball and have had to jump start the Lexus using the Honda. I now run the Lexus once a week to keep the battery topped up. However, the jazz doesn’t get used much and has struggled to start during this cold spell. Luckily I’ve had no problems so far but if the battery dies why can’t I jump start it via the Lexus? I’ve seen a few posts on here saying that you shouldn’t use a hybrid to jump start a normal car. I may be naive but but what is the problem? if I attach jump leads from my Lexus to the Honda surely it is only taking current from the Lexus 12v battery and not from the hybrid battery? Therefore what is the problem?
