  1. Just completed 6k now, and loving the car. It's an absolute pleasure to drive, so much so that my wife wants to drive it all the time. :( No real gripes other than the dirt that tends to collect on the under-inside of the door seals, so I have to give it a wipe now and again. MPG could also be better, still just averaging 35 mpg which is lower than most get, but my short journeys account for that. Radio is complicated to re-tune, I lost all my DAB stations trying to re-tune and had to get the dealership to sort it out. :wallbash: Other than that it is a dream.

  2. Yes, agreed,  but a lot say not so nice things about them too, or they would all be high scoring. Forget some of the scores, but overall the better cars do come out on top. Take reliability, Lexus are the most reliable cars built currently, everyone knows that, the score reflects that. The disappointment with true MPG also reflects in the low score for running costs. One odd score for me is the 1st that the Tesla gets for practicality. Okay, it has seats in the boot that kids can sit in, but the boot is not huge, nor is the front space for luggage. How can that be more practical than a SUV, people carrier or estate?

  3. Yes, there are always some odd scores. It is good that it is the driver/owners that vote, rather than so called 'experts' but what are they comparing their scores to? I have always thought it was a tad misleading, but it does give a more accurate/alternative view than the diesel loving, German loving, acceleration loving, car magazine reviewers. I watched a reviewer once take an NX around a race track at very high speed, trying to break the track record. The fact that no real owner would ever do that and that on our roads you would never be able to accelerate that fast seemed lost on the idiot. So it still makes interesting reading, so long as you understand it throws up odd results some times.

  4. I see the NX dropped 11 places to 17 this year, despite a similar score to last year. Which confirms how the SUV section is very competitive and the newer cars often push older ones down. 17 is still good mind. Voted 1st for Build Quality :), 4th for Seat Comfort, 9th for Reliability, 24th for Ease of Driving, 29th for Road Handling, 34th for Ride Quality, 35th for In-Car Tech, just out of top 50 with a 51st for Practicality, 80th for Performance and 107 for Running Costs. I feel the Running Costs poor result is due to the huge difference of Claimed and Real World MPG.

Top car was the Tesla Model S.

Lexus also had some other good places. 4th IS Mk3, 5th GS Mk4, 6th RX Mk3, 10th RX Mk2, 37th GS Mk3, 42nd CT, even the IS Mk2 still gets a 85th spot. so another good year for Lexus.

  5. Never timed mine, but I have never felt it under-powered, unlike my previous CT which sometimes did, unless in sport mode. I rarely go to sport mode in my NX, I honestly don't think it needs it, but fully loaded, or up and down dales it may need the extra umph. But in leafy Hampshire we don't have too many big hills. :winkiss: If I get the chance I will time it.

  6. Having owned  two Citroen's, which both drove well but were unreliable, I decided to go for a Toyota because they where top of the reliability lists. But I also wanted a plush interior which Toyota just don't seem to get right, all too much plastic for me. I test drove a Prius, but it was let down by the interior and it rattled, so this LED me to Lexus. On my second Lexus now and spent a long time looking at other prestige cars recently but none can match Lexus. I also like the fact that they are more exclusive. I just wish they did a plug-in, as most of my journeys are short duration so that would be ideal for me.

Had an NX300h SE as a courtesy car for a day whilst my IS300h was being serviced. I went my normal journey home from work, which is about 15 miles in length, to check how the economy compares. In my IS I get between 48 and 61 mpg, according to the fuel computer, depending on how I drive, weather, traffic etc and having driven this journey hundreds of times I know quite well what mpg I would get.

For this particular trip I'd expect to get around 55 mpg in the IS and I got 48 in the NX. This NX only had 100 miles on the clock and whilst modern engines don't really need running in (most improvements people experience is more to do with getting use to the car and a hybrid system rather than the engine loosening up) I'd expect a slight improvement and also getting more use to the vehicle should allow an improvement to 50 mpg which means it is around 10% less efficient than the IS which isn't too bad considering it has a less efficient engine, slightly heavier and is less aerodynamic.

My journey to work was slightly different from normal and I got 43 mpg in the NX. Normally in the IS it is around 48 mpg.

I wish I could get near to those figures, but I don't. I did a 30 mile round trip today and managed 37 mpg, which for me is good, in fact the best for me in three months, I rarely get above 35. Since owning the car I have achieved 31.8 so far, with 36.1 being my best fill up. I once, just once got to 40.0 mpg on a 70 mile trip, back in the summer last year. It is fair to say most of my trips are of very short duration which does not help. :(
