  1. Yesterday I did a 77 mile trip on ECO mode, then on the return journey I was in NORMAL mode. The journey was 75% motorway, the rest being mostly 'A' roads mainly with a speed limit of 70, but some at 50. It was light rain both journeys. Outward journey I kept at 70 all the time using cruise control, coming back I was late for a meeting so drove a bit faster, 75+. Outward journey 37.8, back was 37.5. So hardly any difference and with the faster journey coming back I expected to be 35-36, but it was only a very small amount less. It's probably fair to say a mainly motorway journey is not the best option to use a ECO v NORMAL comparison check, but I still expected a bigger difference. I don't think I did anything else to affect the result, and the conditions were identical. I will do another some time, but maybe I will try none motorway. Odd result that.
  2. I found in ECO mode it made a very small difference to MPG, but for me the car was less responsive, so I have not used it much at all, I just leave the car in NORMAL mode. I will try it out again on a longer journey to see if there is any significant difference. I find the MPG is much reduced at 80mph instead of 70. When the motorway to my daughters was all 50mph due to roadworks I found the car managed about 5mpg more.
  3. Both the RX and the NX look stunning in white.
  4. Yes, that seems a reasonable mpg for an 2.5 litre SUV. A diesel may have bettered it slightly, but not by a huge amount and it would have been noisy. :)
  5. It sounds like the sort of journey that will suit a hybrid well. The poorest MPG is on very short trips or motorways, but on that distance and on 'A' and 'B' roads, up and down hills you should get a reasonable MPG. Obviously going up hills you will use more petrol, but coming down you will find it will much less, staying in EV mode longer. If your speed is also 30-50 mph I would not be surprised if you do 40-45 mpg. Let us know.
  6. Yes, from what I have seen that is about right. Longer journeys giving 27+?
  7. Since I am hard of hearing it does not bother me.
  8. Did a 150 mile round trip last weekend. 75% motorway averaging 70+mph, rest 'A' roads averaging 50-60mph. Just pipped 40mpg, which is not bad at all. Best this year so far.
  9. Only issue I had with my CT was the ride was a bit firm for me. I must point out I have a medical issue that makes the ride important to me, as well as a poor balance, so I needed something easier to get in and out of. Other than that it was a dream to own. I now have a NX as the ride is smoother and being higher up it's easier for me to get in and out. I tried lots of other SUV's but I stuck with Lexus as the CT was the best car I have ever owned.
  10. Good review that. It's interesting how he is very impressed regarding MPG. I have noticed that from various USA reviewers. I think it is the fact that the USA claimed MPG is always more accurate in the USA, rather than our UK hyped industry con trick, which disappoints most buyers as some believe they will get what is advertised. Whilst in the US, the opposite happens when they find they get even more than the published figures. It's about time it is sorted out. Sorry, went a bit off topic there.
  11. Another good photo Andy. It makes me want buy myself a better camera rather than just use my iphone 5S which is just too convenient, although I have to say you get quite good results, much better than I expected. I still have a little Canon Powershot camera, which is very good but I rarely use it these days other than on holiday. I used to have a SLR, but it became faulty and the size puts me off. Maybe a Bridge Camera is the answer. Or this: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ70 http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Panasonic_Lumix_TZ70_ZS50/ A mate of mine, who knows a lot about photography and cameras, says it's the best small camera right now, bar none.
  12. I did read somewhere one of the modes (not sure which one) made the ride softer, so much so that it is softer than the rest of the range, which to me seems odd to me as sport models are generally firmer.
  13. I think it will be a dealership job myself. Yes, I tried different heights, but you can't get anything in or out unless it is fully open, so a bit pointless to be honest. :)
  14. Taken from another forum. 1. AWD models do get the adjustable damping (stiffer in Sport S+ mode).2. Sport S mode makes the throttle more sensitive, and changes the way the transmission shifts (shift a bit quicker and at a higher RPM).3. Sport S+ mode stiffens the suspension as well as the steering feel. On RWD models I believe this is the mode that the steering ratio quickens but I'm not sure as i have the AWD IS350F.4. Eco mode tones everything down for the sake of fuel economy. The throttle is much less sensitive (all the power is there but you have to move the throttle a lot more to get to it). The transmission also shift sooner in each gear to keep the engine revs low. Does that help?
  15. Not seen anything about that, but I need it to make sure the boot is reacting to me pressing the key, it can sometimes take a while to do so and the beep confirms it is about to open, albeit slowly.
  16. Quite right, stick to Lexus approved repairers only.
  17. I hate digital clocks, the analogue is so nice looking and does not go out when you switch the engine off.
  18. Stunning looking car. But then again I may be biased as mine is identical. :) Enjoy.
  19. I use a Halfords Digital Tyre Pressure/Tread Guage. It was only £9.99 but it does a grand job. The feedback is very good, 5 star I think and it does what it says. Hope the link works. http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/breakdown-essentials/halfords-digital-tyre-pressure-tread-gauge?cm_mmc=Google+PLA-_-Garage+Equipment-_-Breakdown+Essentials-_-239116&_$ja=tsid:60494%7Ccgn:GoogleShopping%7Ckw:239116&istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istItemId=xxlpwlta&istBid=tztx&_$ja=tsid:35522|cid:344535484|agid:25437357364|tid:pla-221245669924|crid:89797547524|nw:g|rnd:14406187750865513396|dvc:c|adp:1o7&gclid=CNi1ncHY1swCFTAz0wodxyUNjw
  20. Very nice job too, worth the work isn't it.
  21. Made me laugh that did. :)
  22. Nice looking car. Enjoy.... well you wife can anyway.
  23. There is a lot of dust blowing in again, due to winds from the south most likely picking up Sahara'n sand particles. Annoying, a nice clean car one day, dusty the next. Grrrrr.
  24. Well done. As for choice of model, colour etc, Snap! Had mine for 7 months now and love it.
