Am I young and urban?
Goggy replied to javadude's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Customer demand to switch it off? Seems like a backward step to me. They could have given you the option to switch it on/off. That would keep everyone happy. -

I think they look quite nice on the NX. -
NX Three likes/dislikes

I think that whenever cars are offered with cloth seats, and leather as an option, the sales are so low thee manufactures prefer to add them as standard in most premium cars. I think it is fair to say that most people prefer leather, but not all. I quite like them, but would not buy them as an option, my wife prefers cloth. I think the seats are very comfortable, in fact it is one of the best features of the NX. Sorry to hear some people don't get on with them. I suppose we are all different. -
The Michelin winter tyres that fit the NX are the Latitude Alpin LA2's. I think you would need to buy the wheels too, as most (if not all) tyre centres won't swap tyres on one set of rims. Or so I have been told. So if you go down the winter tyre route you need to budget for a set of wheels too. Oddy enough the NX winter wheels that Lexus sell are 17", not 18" which the NX has as standard. Not sure why they change the wheel size. Or you could go down the 'all season' route and get Latitude Tour HP which are much better in the winter than summer tyres, but maybe not quite a good in the summer as summer tyres. By all accounts they are a good all round tyre. That is what i will probably do when I need to change mine, as I live in the south so don't really need full winter tyres. If I lived in areas of higher snow coverage I would get winter wheels/tyres.

Panoramic Sliding Glass Sunroof
Goggy replied to dochybrid's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I have one and I like it a lot. I close the blind on a hot sunny day, but when it is overcast and cloudy it makes the interior much brighter. My grand children love it when they can see the stars at night or the moon. Maybe that is why in the USA they call them moon roofs. :) -
Had my car serviced today and asked about updating my Sat Nav and was told it was about £200. I don't use it that much and it is rare that anything is wrong, so i will leave it at least another year.

I didn't realise that either. Thanks. :) -

Dislikes: Having to go back to set up to turn Sat Nav volume on/off. Too many buttons to do this, there should have a one press option. If the radio is on quite loud the Sat Nav voice cannot be heard. Back door seals get really dirty. Likes: Lovely seats. The high quality of the interior. I paid extra for a panoramic sunroof, which makes the interior nice and bright on a dull day. -
My little review of my (loan) NX300h
Goggy replied to Deathstar's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I didn't either. I find that when I use the hold function the car jerks a little when starting off again, rather than removing the foot from the brake which makes the car creep forward slightly before you hit the accelerator. I prefer the latter. but still use hold if I am going to be there for a while. -

New tyres - change make?
Goggy replied to Goggy's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
S o how important is it to use 'all season' tyres? Most of the tyres on sale are listed as summer tyres. I suppose in the UK most summer tyres would be fine for all year with our mild winters, unless we had a real bad winter with lot's of snow and ice. I do not want both summer and winter tyres, I have never had them in the past and do not want to go down that route. My current Yokohama BluEarth's are summer only. -
The new 2017 survey is out. The Lexus NX does well: 15th overall, which is not at all bad considering newer cars always do better. 1st for Exterior Design and quality of fit, finish and materials. I always said it is the best looking SUV out there right now. :) 5th for Interior and comfort. The RX is 2nd. 3rd for Safety Features. The RX is 1st. 9th for Reliability. The RX was 5th. The NX scores low for MPG and running costs, and below average for Engine/gearbox and Infotainment. No BMW SUV mentioned! Best Audi was the Q3 at 13th. And what happened to the Tesla S, which won it hands down last year.

New tyres - change make?
Goggy replied to Goggy's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
There is a wide choice. From the research I have done and what has been said here I think the following are all going to be good buys: Avon ZX7, C, A ,69, £108 - best for cost. Good grip, quiet. Micheline Latitude Sport 3, C, A, 70, £130 - best for grip, quite quiet. Goodyear Efficient Grip SUV, C, B, 68, £126 - quietest. Michelin Latitude Tour HP, C, C, 71, £130- average all rounder. Bridgstone H/P Sport, B, B, 71, £130 - best for petrol. So, still thinking about it. -
Ideally we should all have two cars, one for relaxation and one for fun. I wouldn't have a mini though, my daughter has one and although she loves it I find the ride very hard indeed. But as Rayaans says a Golf R, now you're talking. :)

New tyres - change make?
Goggy replied to Goggy's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Still undecided, but they are okay for a few months yet, so I will take my time and research it a bit more before my final decision. When I do make the change I will let you know. -
New tyres - change make?
Goggy replied to Goggy's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I tend to agree, it may be legal but I would be a little wary of doing that. Either both or none. -
My NX will need a couple of new tyres in the next few months, as they are down to 2-3mm. At the moment they are fitted with Yokohama Bluearth E51A 225/60R18's Is it best to stick to those, or try something different? I do hear Bridgstone H/P Sport are good for SUV's. The tyre label being B B 71 rather than the E C 71 on the Yokohama's. If I do change, I understand that mixing makes is not a problem as long as they are on the same axel. Is that correct?

Lexus Nx True Mpg
Goggy replied to jawadarif's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Paul, It's a main discussion point because it is about the only slightly negative thing about the NX. In many cases it is not a deal breaker, but for some it could be. And obviously quite a few people do feel they want to post what MPH they achieve, good or bad. That's a good thing surely? Open discussion. :) -

Goggy replied to jawadarif's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Understandable. No-one wants to pay more for anything. If you do a low mileage it's not a big issue, but if you are a high mileage driver then it would become one. As time goes on we all want to get more MPG out of our cars, not less. For me though the MPG was not a deal breaker, although it is fair to say I wish it did do the 54 MPG Lexus quote. The trouble is we all know that the claimed figures are no-where near the true MPG, which the motor industry keep high for marketing reasons. The biggest con in the motor industry sadly, which various governments fail to put right. -

Yea, a plug in would be perfect. Sadly it does not look like it will ever happen. -

What you must understand is that any SUV is heavier than a saloon/hatch, so whenever any buyer plumps for a SUV over a saloon/hatch for the first time they will notice lower MPG. So yes, the NX will provide lower MPG than an IS, the same as a BMW X3/5 will have lower MPG than a 3 or 5 series saloon. The NX compares favorably with other SUV's, in fact for a petrol/hybrid it does quite well compared with diesels, without the noise, although it is fair to say that on long journeys diesels should give slightly better MPG, whilst on short journeys the hybrid should come out on top. -
Just picked up my IS F!
Goggy replied to V1J4Y (VJ)'s topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Welcome to the forum and what a stunning car you have bought. Mine is a Sonic Titanium NX, my second choice was the blue. In fact I think the blue suits the IS F even better. I am sure it will be a joy to drive. -
I suppose I really meant either a plug in or full electric. Most of my journeys are of very short duration. I rarely do more than 20 miles a day, so a plug in that gives me 20+ miles on electric before I start using petrol would be nice, but yes, a full electric would be even better as long as it is cost effective. Full electrics tend to be pricier? I do go to my daughters house about once every 2-3 weeks which is a 160 mile round trip. But that is about as far as I do travel these days.

Wow, a stunning looking car. Very envious. My next car will be a plug in, but it will be some time before I do that. By then there will be a lot more choice and within my budget, sadly this one is not. I hope you enjoy the car, I am certain you will.
