  1. I decided not to pay for the protection. I have polished it and waxed it myself. It is easy enough to do and I do have the time. I quite enjoyed it. We decided on the panoramic roof because we felt it would brighten up the interior considerably. It does. I have had tilting sliding roofs before but always found they are too noisy at speed, and with air con they don't work that well anyway. I don't see any problem with headroom and I am 5' 11". It has a full cover, so it can be closed which may help if it was noisy in heavy rain, but to be honest so far I have not noticed it being any noisier than normal.
  2. Hmmm, not sure why the photo is not centered. But if you click on it, kit is full size.
  3. After a four month wait, I picked it up yesterday. All I have to do now is work out how it all works. :)
  4. Thanks Rayaans, I thought as much, I just wanted to make sure. In fact I have Autoglym SRP, so that is good. I also have their High Definition wax, so that is good too. :) I will do both asap when I take delivery.
  5. The NX, along with other models, have a 'Self Restoring coat of paint'. Will polishing and waxing affect this? I will ask this question on 'Detailing World' forum as well, to see what they say.
  6. I did a 76 mile journey today, most of it at 50mph on a motorway having lots of road works done, some at 70mph. At that speed my end of journey mpg was 65.5, a record for me.
  7. I find it is great on motorways. But then again maybe I am easily pleased. I tend to cruise along quite happily. If I want power to overtake quickly I just pop into sport mode and the power is there, enough for me anyway. It is quiet, smooth and it has very comfortable seats, so I arrive fresh, even after a long journey. All in all I love it.
  8. Nice read that. :) Yes I did know the USA gallon is smaller. It's easy to calculate what the claimed figures would be and it turns out much closer to the real MPG than in the UK. A bit of a faff I know, but quite interesting to do. I know car makers in the UK are not solely responsible for the official figures, but they have not tried very hard to get things changed so that a truer MPG is published. I have heard that it will be changed at some point in the future, until than a lot of buyers are not getting what they think they will be getting. All a bit of a con really, but nothing anyone can do about it.
  9. I find USA claimed MPG figures more accurate.
  10. Yes, my average on motorway journeys is low to mid 50's this time of year. Lot's of short journeys (shopping etc) it goes down to high 40's, but traveling on 'A' and 'B' roads at 40-50mph I can get to 60+.
  11. You are doing well with what you are achieving. I have owned my CT for 4.5 years and it can vary greatly depending on time of year and driving conditions. I am currently getting high 50's on most journeys, but I rarely get above 60. It is a lovely car, far more luxurious than the Prius. Just about to trade in for a NX, as I want a higher driving position. I will not get anywhere near the mpg I am currently getting, probably 40-43, or at least I hope to, it may be less from what I read. The mpg is not a big issue with me as I only do about 8k a year. It all depends what you want, I want a feel good factor when I sit in a car, I get that in a CT and will also get it in a NX.
  12. I was followed by a NX the other day. The only one I have seen being driven. I think it is the same one I saw parked at my local sports center a few months back. Mine is due on 21st September. Not sure when I will take delivery, probably the end of the month.
  13. Two friends of mine have both ordered news cars (not Lexus), neither of which have gone for the Sat Nav option. One uses TomTom and swears by it, the other uses Google Maps on his smart phone which he says works as well as any other Sat Nav he has used. Both feel the £600 and £950 sat Nav options are simply not worth the money. One said that within 5-6 years 'in car' Sat Nav's will be dead and gone as the smart phone improvements will make them redundant. I think he has a point.
  14. I've not used 'B' mode much, other than on a steep hill where I don't need to accelerate. I find it slows you down too much and drivers behind may wonder why I am going so slow. I think the car does enough regenerative braking on it's own without any help from me. I may be wrong of course but it does seem to cope quite well without my input. :)
  15. Mine comes on with about 30 miles to go as well, but it is generally accepted that there is still enough petrol in the tank to do at least double that. Not that I have tested that theory. ;)
  16. Nice job. Yes, it is more costly than other polish, but it looks great. You get what you pay for I find.
  17. I like Autoglmn Aqua Car Wax, easy to use, great result.
  18. I'm sorry, but I'm confused now. When you say foot brake, what are you talking about. The break pedal, to the immediate left of the accelerator? Or the other foot brake, operated by your left foot, to the far left, which in most cars is a hand brake? Can you clarify it please as the more I read this post the more confused I get.
  19. Most new cars built to order are 3 months or more these days, well at least those that are made outside the UK. When I ordered in June I was told September and the last update it was the last week of that month. I expect by the time I get my hands on it, it will be early Oct. A friend of mine ordered a new mini in June as well, she was told 6 weeks! which I thought at the time was ambitious. She chased it last week and has now been told it will be September. She is quite annoyed as she has a buyer her old car and may miss out on the sale. She will be even more annoyed if I get mine before her. :)
  20. Last week of September it seems, or at least about then, I bet it will be longer. :(
  21. If it's out of warranty they don't have to do anything do they?
  22. The seats are real leather, Lexus would not sell something that was not leather unless it is clearly stated in sales brochures.
  23. Clayed mine today. First time for this car. I was surprised how much extra dirt came off in the clay and the bodywork does seem to be smoother, but I have to say it did not make a huge difference to how it looked. Mind you, my car was super clean before I started. So, Washed, Clayed, Polished & Waxed. 2 Hours! Knackered now.
  24. I may have to wait longer. I was told September, maybe October, but from what I read on the forum it could be longer. Grrrrrr. I may just ring them later in the week to see if there is any update.
  25. It has been pointed out to me that this is not Lexus at fault, it is the government testing procedure that is flawed. I do accept that, I am not Lexus bashing, or at least it was not my intention to do so, even if it looked like that. I am a huge Lexus fan, having owned one for 4 years and I have another on order. i just feel that something is not right with claimed mpg and everyone knows that, so it's about time it is sorted out. :)
