  1. Done Ian. Hope you can make it mate. :)
  2. Didn't think it would be that bad, that is nearly a lump of carbon.......As above solvent or degreaser.
  3. I always upload to photobucket, then all you have to do is copy and paste IMG code.
  4. Behind passenger and drivers kick panels in footwell.
  5. Welcome to the club Brian. I have just bought a 98 model and apart from usual check water, oil,and bodywork/ underneath, anything else just drive it they are that quiet that any untoward noises/faults will be very noticable. Check when braking that you don't get a buzzing everytime you press brake pedal as these models don't use a conventional servo, they have an accumulator which is expensive to replace. Hope i have helped in a small way. Can't give an in depth guide as i have only had mine for a couple of weeks. One thing for sure you won't regret getting one.
  6. here you go. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/27788-fitting-heated-electric-sport-seats/?hl=electric+seats please test wires with test light or meter by switching heated seat switch on/off before cutting and permanently connecting. To ensure you have correct wire. passenger red with green stripe/ extend and connect to same colour on seat. drivers side. red with blue stripe.extend and connect to same colour on seat.
  7. I cleaned mine with wd40,, and my personal opinion is yes you would be better with fully synthetic.
  8. VVTI malfunction bank one is easy to fix, It's the filter in the oil control valve that's blocked, just needs removing and cleaning out. the valve is arrowed here, Just unbolt it remove and filter should be stuck to the end if not use a cotton bud to fish it out.(NOT WIRE OR ANYTHING SHARP)
  9. Yes but can you tune an altezza 4 pot to 500+bhp and have 4 wheel drive as well?? But in the real world, you are right the 4 pot altezza engine is the best of both.
  10. :) If your going for a full out engine swap go for a cosworth 4 pot. Would be easier than fitting an engine from an avensis. Would love to see a sierra/escort cosworth engine in an IS. :)
  11. Done Ron and welcome to the club. see you at the meet.
  12. Do you drink irn bru and eat 4 weetabix.. :)
  13. Welcome to the club Erwin, enjoy your stay. Good choice of car BTW.

  17. First thing to try is disconnect wire to lighter and then test..You haven't had clocks changed by any chance have you?
  18. Welcome to the club, sounds like a nice example, one more thing.... :)
  19. Only one that's definately ok is the type iv from toyota/lexus dealers.Expensive but cheaper than a new gearbox due to wrong fluid. I paid £50 for 5ltrs from local toyota dealer.
  20. Just had this done on mine, It is the top one in the middle. My son used a spanner on the tensioner nut, the spanner has to be in line with the tensioner to get leverage.
  21. Welcome to the club Neddie, enjoy your stay. If you get chance put some pics up,always goes down well.. :)
  22. Sorry to hear of your dilemma, Don't take offence but so far you have been too nice with them. If it were me in your situation i'd kick a stink up in the showroom, stating the faults in front of potential new customers. Sounds like they are dragging the process out purposely, as if they swap you for another rx400 they are then stuck with a faulty rx with no chance of selling it. As Steve said earlier take the case to citizens advice, they are brilliant as they have helped me before.
