Hi Amit. Any luck getting your NX fully repaired yet? I have been meaning to ask you, do you think the additional kit in the Premier is worth the extra £4 or £5k?? I must say I sometimes struggle with all the bings, bongs, chimes and flashing messages in my F Sport, and I don't know if I could cope with flashing lights in mirrors, lane departure warnings, HUD info etc on top of that. Are you still pleased you went with Premier spec, and how easy to understand is the information from the panoramic cameras? I've had surround view before and found what was displayed on screen utterly confusing!!
-
Yeah, at first I thought they had tested the hybrid twice by mistake, but the G Force meter, engine sound and lack of CVT noise rule that out. I'd say 6.8 is more like it.
-
Just for info, these two sets of three test runs (0-60) were done by Autobytel on the 200T and the 300H. If they are to be believed, there is virtually nothing between the two models.
-
Funny you should mention it feeling faster than your RX450H, because I never thought my RX felt as quick as the official figures stated - (which I believe are 7.8, but sub 7 secs to 60 in a couple of tests I've read). On the other hand my NX 300H feels very quick indeed, and you say that the 200T does too. Perhaps the NX is just one of those cars that gives an impression that you are travelling faster than you actually are, because the 300H is definitely slower than the RX, and the 200T hasn't managed a sub 7 sec run in any of the reviews I've read so far. So, in a straight line race the RX should manage to out perform the 200T if the tests are correct.
-
You are right, the 450h is too big, and rather shapeless and unattractive (IMHO). Actually my daughter's partner has just ordered an NX 200T. I tried to persuade him to go for the hybrid, but he said he was too much of a petrol head. I think the 200T is a bad choice because performance wise it is barely quicker than the hybrid, and during in town driving, using the torque from the electric motors, it is probably no quicker than the 300H at all. Add to that the higher tax, insurance, fuel costs etc, and it doesn't seem that sensible. Even the dealer told him it was the first 200 they had sold in the entire group, and he still signed on the dotted line. If there is so little demand for the car now, it's likely to have lost value quicker than the hybrid when it is time to sell. Now if Lexus had given it the 2.5 engine from the 300H, and then added the turbos or a supercharger, it might have been a different matter.

David. As somebody mentioned earlier, the Q50 Hybrid is all about performance rather than economy, although it still gets very good mpg for a 3.5 V6.. So, the car is phenomenally quick, gets mpg figures close to those being reported from NX owners (including myself). A winner in many departments, but too much of a gamble without that all important long term after sales back up. I wish Lexus offered the IS as a 3.5 V6 hybrid, and with the same massive standard spec offered by Infiniti. What a great combination that would be,

A bit late in the day to add to this post, but here goes. I have made a few enquiries over the years about Infiniti cars. The first time was about 5 years ago when I quite fancied the V6 G37. What put me off was the lack of dealers, cost of servicing, and the lack of an extended warranty, although Infiniti assured me they planned to introduce them very shortly. Two years later I looked at the FX SUV, but there was still no extended warranty scheme in place. Recently I looked at the Q50 3.5HS. It is a great car, let down rather by it's ponderous and unpredictable app software interface. Unfortunately, despite 5 years having passed, Infiniti have still not introduced an extended warranty, even though they have had them up and running in North America for years now. Infiniti make a big thing about collecting and returning your car at service times and for repairs, regardless of distance. That's great, because it helps to overcome the issue of dealerships being so few and far between. However, what they don't tell you is that after the first three years that service is no longer offered. So, long term owners will have to travel (in some cases) long distances for anything, and NO, Nissan dealers are not permitted to touch the cars. Add to that the prospect of expensive repairs once the warranty has expired, and you can start to understand why Infiniti only sold 386 cars in the UK last year, and why the prices plummet so quickly it will make your head spin. When Infiniti finally decide to stand behind their cars with extended warranties and a better dealer network, I will be in line to buy one. Until then, I'll be sticking with Lexus and their vastly superior product support.

The concept design for the new Mitsubishi Shogun. Looks a bit like an NX that's been on a diet of steroids!! I'll be interested to see what the finished production car looks like, because it is being produced in PHEV spec, with an increased electric range of between 40 and 50 miles. I did look at the Outlander PHEV before buying my NX, but decided it looked far too bland on the outside, and very dated inside. However, the technology is amazing, and I hope it's not too long before Lexus adopt a similar plug in hybrid system.
-
I don't know if it is exactly the same with the NX. The engine turns off when the car is at a standstill, but if you press the EV button, the background hum from the hybrid system stops. I can't see what difference it makes because running on battery power is running on battery power, whether a switch is turned on or not. So, why does the sound from the hybrid system stop when the button is pushed, and is the EV button merely to hold the vehicle in electric mode more effectively than driving without it activated?
-
Quick question please guys. I've been trying to maximise fuel economy by using EV mode as much as possible. I know that in EV mode it automatically restarts the petrol engine if you exceed a certain speed, depress the accelerator too far, or run low on hybrid batteries, but is there any way of making the car automatically revert to EV again afterwards without having to keep pushing that stupid EV button on the centre console? Seems ridiculous if you do have to keep pressing it every time you want to put the car back into EV, and what a stupid place to put it, where you have to take your eyes off the road to find it. Why not mounted on the steering wheel??

Yes, I find it hard to believe given the number of NX's that have been sold so far, and the percentage of those owners who would have bothered taking part. Probably based on half a dozen feedbacks. Same with the JD Power Survey which put the Jaguar XF as the most reliable vehicle, I mean come on, who are they kidding.
-
I see the NX has been voted 2nd most reliable car by the Auto Express Readers Power Survey (Toyota IQ number 1), and sixth best car to own overall - let down by a bad score in running costs, no surprise there!! Best car to own overall is the Lexus IS MK III. Good news for Lexus. Here's the link for those interested. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/best-cars/driver-power/91218/best-cars-to-own-in-2015

Help With The Meaning Of Nx300H "chimes"
lee789 replied to lee789's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Glad it's not just me. EV certainly doesn't seem to make a lot of difference to fuel consumption either, even in ECO mode. My daughter's boyfriend has a 200T on loan from the Lexus dealer at the weekend, and I will be interested to see how that performs in comparison. Re the constant chimes, my Lexus dealer hasn't a clue either. The service manager agrees that some of them are unfathomable, confusing and pointless. -

TBH I doubt any dealership will have all the parts in stock, so some will have to be ordered in from the Miyayta plant in Japan. Still, there is no reason why they shouldn't have been available and air freighted here within a week to ten days. You must be very frustrated by this, but I'm sure Lexus GB working with a competent dealership will sort it out for you. Hope you get a result from Bradford today, -

Yes, it has become obvious to me over the years that when you call to speak to somebody at a car dealership, and are told they are at lunch or on a training course, it is likely that they are receiving additional tuition to make them more proficient in dishonesty, deception and creative accounting. Unfortunately, I have had to contact the CEO or Chairperson at several car manufacturers in the past to get relatively simple issues sorted out. I hope that now you have Mr Balshaw on the case your car will be sorted out quickly, and to your satisfaction. A great pity we have to resort to these lengths, but after years of putting up with shoddy service and excuses, I now report anything untoward directly to the Dealer Principal, or to the CEO. -
Help With The Meaning Of Nx300H "chimes"
lee789 replied to lee789's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
All these chimes are rather confusing, and not even the full handbook adequately covers what they mean. I wonder how much effort it would take to replace these sounds with voice warnings which make it perfectly clear what is happening. Not much I suspect. Anybody remember the 70s comedy Kentucky Fried Movie, where the guy gets into his car and is confronted with numerous bings, bongs and chimes? After eliminating them one by one he is left with one chime that will not stop. Turns out the car is warning him that the zip on his trousers is open. Life immitating art.. -
David, I have no intention of selling the NX. In fact I've just taken out an additional 2 years warranty until Oct 2019 under their current 2 years for the price of 1 offer. Nothing else on the market currently interests me as a family car. It has everything we want, despite being a bit of a disappointment with fuel consumption.
-
And that's the problem. If you were to try and P/ex a car with a non Lexus dealer, chances are they would pass it back to Lexus, take a cut, and you would get an even lower price. I was quite shocked at the offer I got against the GS, even though it wasn't a serious inquiry. After all, the GS is not their biggest seller.
-
I've been trying to figure this out for a while. When I'm driving along, I will get a single chime every so often. Is this the EV system switching on and off? Also, having turned off the ignition, I sometimes get a single chime after opening the door and getting out of the car. This is in daylight and the key is outside the car, so it's not a key present or lights on warning. Also, whilst I'm in dim mode, any idea how you get the car to drive purely in electric mode without the engine starting? In EV/ECO mode I can get up to about 10mph, but the slightest pressure on the accelerator after that just starts the engine. Totally different from the way the RX hybrid system worked where it was easy to get up to around 30mph, and use moderate pressure on the pedal. Any ideas anybody??
-
I thought I'd put this to the test by contacting a Lexus Dealer and asking how much I would get for my NX FSport against a 14 plate GS 450H they were advertising. Their offer - £29500. Got a call an hour or so later increasing this to £30500, but only because they had somebody who wanted an NX 300H. Definitely not impressed, but what I said to the salesman would definitely get me into trouble with the moderator!! Cheeky Bs.
-
I guess it depends what you want to trade it for at a Lexus dealer. With the new RX due in a few months, I expect they will be happy to do a very good deal on the outgoing model. Also, there are plenty of IS's around which I am sure they would love to take an NX against.
-
I'm sure you are right Colin. If I were seriously looking to trade in the car, I would be very disappointed not to get £33-34k from a non Lexus dealer, and up to £37k if trading against a new Lexus. At one point I gave serious thought to going from the F Sport to the Premier, and the Lexus dealers I spoke to were very keen to get their hands on my car. Thanks for your post.
-
I'm in the process of buying a Mercedes GLA45 AMG as a "fun" car, and during negotiations the salesman asked if I was trading our NX F Sport. I'm not, but I did ask what I would get just out of curiosity. The trade in quoted was £26250, which I thought was laughable given the car is only 5 months old and has covered just 2000 miles. Thinking this was just the usual insulting offer you get from a dealer, I did some checking on-line with Autotrader, Confused.com and Glass's. It seems they pretty much concur with the figure I was offered. How can that be when the cheapest F Sport on-line is £37500, most are going for £38 - £40k, and there's a six month wait for a new car? Are they all wrong, or is the NX going to turn into a really bad investment? Hopefully it's because it is too new to give realistic valuations, but rather worrying nonetheless. Anyone else checked out resale/trade in figures yet?
